Power Rangers on DVD Discussion

The chances of the Masked Rider and Ninja Turtles crossovers making it onto dvd are extremely bleak so I wouldn't get too excited over this. Also the rest of the Saban catalog (ie everything unrelated to Power Rangers; the Marvel shows; and the initial syndicated version of Dragonball Z) is still with Disney so don't start campaigning for Shout to release Samurai Pizza Cats just yet.

I hope this deal also includes Space Goofs.
It won't. Saban never owned it.

I had a feeling once Saban got the rights back they would get Shout to put the old series on dvd. I will most defiently be getting the three Mighty Morphin seasons, Zeo, and in Space. Probably pick up Time Force and Dino Thunder and RPM. I hope they do some good extras Mighty Morphin through in Space has a lot they could put on there like the making of special and I remember Bulk and Skull had some type of video special I think.

Actually, according to the PR, they have Ninja Turtles: Next Mutation, so the crossovers will probably be in it. And I'll probably end up getting that In Space set. And like Matt said, Samurai Pizza Cats has found a good home.

Now I can only hope someone, somewhere can release Digimon...

Both crossovers are up on Netflix and Saban owns Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation in the first place, so I don't know why they would ever be excluded. Even if they have cameos from other characters, they're still PR episodes.

Morphenominal!

Power Rangers, VR Troopers, Beetleborgs and Ninja Turtles: TNM all on DVD.

I'd be more enthused if they were not already on Netflix but this is a delightful surprise.

As much as I love Power Rangers, I'm not wild enough about most of the seasons to want to buy them. I'm definitely buying the RPM set (even three years later, I still have an almost unhealthy obsession with that season), and maybe the Time Force set because of my nostalgia for it.

Disney might still have the rights to the first four seasons, though some others claim that their rights expired and went back to Toei. If that's the case, Shout! would have to get permission from Toei to release the series.

I'm pretty sure the rights have reverted back to Toei. Madman has recently released some dubbed Digimon sets in Australia, and they didn't have any sign of a Disney-related logo on the packaging; that wouldn't be the case if Disney still held the rights (hell, if Disney still held the rights, those sets probably wouldn't have been released in the first place).

I'd say Discotek might be the most likely company to pick up Digimon. If the Samurai Pizza Cats announcement is any indication, we could even have subbed Digimon sets if they did.

Toei released Adventure 02 and Tamers on the Playstation store and Crunchyroll, so they at least have those rights back.

But on-topic, I hope there are a lot of cool extras on the Power Rangers DVDs (like all the specials and other odds and ends that were either aired on TV or released on VHS back in the day).

I'm definitely interested in SPD, RPM, and VR Troopers. I love Dino Thunder, but I made myself some DVRs from TV, so that's not a priority. I might get In Space, Lost Galaxy and Time Force if I can find them cheap enough.

Still, I never thought I'd see the day they released season sets, so I'm happy. :D

This is great, if this can happen, so can Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, Mon Colle Knights, Nascar Racers, and DIGIMON! I have my fingers crossed...

Both should be released, especially the Ninja Turtles crossover since Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation is part of the DVD release deal as well. If it's on Netflix, then it should be on the DVD releases when they start.

I have Netflix too, but there's always a chance that the contract to have them stream on Netflix will never get renewed once it's up. That's why I'm glad that there's now a bigger chance that they'll all get put on DVD. At least when you have those, you'll know that you'll always have them to watch, virtually any time you wish. For now though, I still cherish being able to stream everything through Netflix.

I'll probably pick up the original Pre-Zedd seasons. I liked MMPR, but I liked the older footage a little better.

Seriously, where would my inner geek be without this company?
Indeed. I'll get MMPR as soon as I can as the the pilot DVD from ComicCon has been taunting me from my shelf for quite some time. From there I'll slowly catch up to In Space, maybe Lost Galaxy. And I'm definitely in for Next Mutation too, Venus and all, which is a nice surprise as is Beetleborgs which I may also look into.

Oh yeah, that DVD. I wonder if I can even sell that thing once I get the whole first season of MMPR on DVD.

I'll also be getting the VR Troopers and BeetleBorgs sets. Those are the ones that will most likely be released in complete series sets since neither show is running any longer.

VR Troopers- 2 seasons totaling 92 episodes (Season 1 is 52 episodes, so I see a Season 1 Volume 1 with 26 episodes, season 1 Volume 2 with 26 episodes, Season 2 Volume 1 w/ 20 episodes, and season 2 Volume 2 with 20 episodes)

Beetleborgs- 2 seasons totaling 88 episodes (Season 1 is 53 episodes, so I see Season 1 Volume 1 with 25 episodes because I think they'll want the entire Shadowborg saga on the same set and episode 26 begins the Shadow Borg saga. Season 1 Volume 2 then has the next 28 episodes [which finishes off season 1]. Season 2 Volume 1 has episodes 54-73, and Season 2 Volume 2 has the final 15 episodes, episodes 74-88 which is the Astral Borg and Robo Borg saga.)

Now I don't know about you, but I don't see too many series getting a 92 or an 88 episode DVD release. I have seen some 52-episode season set release (like Ultraman), but those are rare. I think they'll break it down like I have listed above to keep major cliffhangers from occurring on the same sets.

This may not be the same, but there have been more complete series releases with at least 92 episodes than you think.

I dig. I watched the show off-and-on during its first year, but was fully onboard from the Thunderzord era right up until the first season of Zeo.Wouldn't mind re-living it again.
