Is this a good age for cartoons?

I agree with that, as far as I know Disneys paying their cartoonists the best budgets out of the networks and it shows in their work, it'd be nice if Cartoon Network and Nick did the same. I respect the cartoonists in the industry at the moment, but between budgets and executive interference...

Is this a good age for cartoons?

Apologies for my strong words, if you like Uncle Grandpa thats fine, I do like how its a pure comedy cartoon but the execution could be better, the art style is typical of todays animation. I do agree that SnC, Stephen Universe, and a few other recent shows feel like 90's cartoons, but then...

Is this a good age for cartoons?

Johnks blog posts are best taken with a grain of salt, and I don't understand how anyone could like Uncle Grandpa. . Any particular examples? My first complaint was directed at largely comedy cartoons, and what drama I'd find in Hey Arnold and Aaahh!! Real Monsters was actually well executed...

Is this a good age for cartoons?

Long Ranting Post I personally to not like the cliches that this era has brought, comedy animation styles are by large far too simple for me with lots of round curbs, perfectly circular eyes, almost non-existing hands, stiff movement, then we have the writing: 1. Bits of drama that rarely go...

Cartoon Network greenlights Rebecca Sugar's Steven Universe and Pete Browngardt's Uncle Grandpa

If you go to Greenblatts older blog and search under 2009 you'll find the post, basically he's grateful for the executive that he worked with (their name escapes me atm). After comparing SUs old designs and the newer ones side by side the main differences seem to be in wardrobe, and Stephen...

    Modern Cartoon Styles

Its the dead blank stare of their eyes I say i RS's case, I've found SnC to look more akin to animated puppets. Both shows are simple but lack the style or flair of older generations.

    Modern Cartoon Styles

I'd say late 90's, but you're right, though I think there was still more diversity at that point. I'm aware that most comedy cartoons early 90's to now have been simple in style and to me thats a good thing, but there was more diversity in the styles back then. Have a look at a shot of Rocko...

    Modern Cartoon Styles

I'm curious to know if anyones picked up on the similarities between modern comedy cartoons in terms of aestetics. I've noticed that the designs tend to be a bit basic with abstract shapes and perfectly circular eyes (think Simpsons), and generally skinny limbs. Why is this? I don't mind...

    Possible Future Nicktoons

I disagree on just MLAaTR, I only saw glimpses of that show back when it was on but I still remembered it, though more for its visuals and concepts than the writing. Thank you for that link GPR, I'm not exactly a huge fan of the heard like mentality that seemingly stems from CalArts students...

    Possible Future Nicktoons

Are you asking me to link to an article or someone else? My only suggestion would be to use a different IP or something, I too never understood why Nick blocks foreign viewers. Judging by other peoples comments I'm not sure if you're really missing out on much.

    Possible Future Nicktoons

"dudes in wonderland" , that phrase about sums up a popular trend in modern cartoons. I agree with everyone that Odyessy Squad is a caculated shot at rivaling CNs cartoons, I'm surprised that so many people picked up on that though, if not a little flattered.

    Possible Future Nicktoons

Watch 12 Nickelodeon Cartoons From Their Shorts Program | Cartoon Brew A few of these have been chosen for episode pilots, personally I hope that Nick chose Lucas and Tallie Peer console, the others were fine for their efforts I felt, while others tried a bit too hard to fit in.

Sanjay and Craig News & Discussion Thread

I want to start off with positives, but honestly the only one coming to my head is that both episodes made me chuckle a bit but thats it. To me this show isn't just trying to copy CNs line-up, its more so taking a number of cues from TV cartoons in the late 2000's up to now, the problem is that...
