I remember a looong time ago when I saw this episode the first time. It was the first time that I ever had seen Lobo, in any incarnation, and he immediately became a favorite! :)

Yeah, the Main Man! The only thing that kind of bugged me was the fact that Kid's WB censored his antics. Not language wise, mind you, but the fact that he only used his main weapon -- the big hook on the chain -- once. If he shows up again I hope he's more like his beer swilling, violent self from the comics.

Overall, it was a solid episode with a small, almost inconsequental cameo that payed off in a big way years later (Starro!). I liked it.

Its understandable that Kids'WB! had to tone down Lobo. His comic title was for Mature Readers and all the stuff he did in that title wasn't gonna pass on a Saturday morning cartoon show. But Dini stayed incredibly true to the look and feel of the character. I really love his design. They did such a great job adapting his design for the animated series.

Hey guys, this is gonna sound nuts and i don't konw how to describe it in this forum without it sounded horrible. If anyone has the episode on tape take anohter look at it. THis might happen in the second part of the Main Man though, im not quiet sure. When Superman and Lobo escape lobo psuhes the heads of the two female robots together. Something comes out of both there mouthes and they get stuck togher. Two big balls begin to swell up right, right infront of Lobo, right infront of his middle region, and Lobo has a giaint grin on his face and points downward at them. I'm sure you all have know what he was suggesting at. i have no idea how this got past the senors. Though if Paul dini helped right this story, i have a feeling i konw why they put that shot in there. :p If the second epsiode hasnt aired yet, please watch it and look for this. I didnt beleive it when i saw it at first, but i reran it a bunch of times, and i'm positive it was purposely but in there.

I really liked this episode, it's not much plot wise, but it has action and humor and provided an entertaining half hour for me.

This was my first introduction to Lobo, and I liked him in this episode. He's a tough, sarcastic, dirty mouth intergalatic biker who gets what he wants when he wants and he's easily one of my favorite Superman villans because he's doesn't really have a vendetta against him and he makes me laugh, he's just so over the top and that's what I like about him.

This episode is basically just a slugfest between Superman and Lobo in Metropolis and it's really well done. The animation is good, the fight is good, and all the destruction in Metropolis from these two brawling makes for some cool scenes, plus added the humor that Lobo provides, and this is just a fun episode.

The only real plot was that a mysterious alien the Preserver is a collector of rare alien species and hires Lobo to catch Superman, but that only takes up about 5 minutes, the rest is Superman vs. Lobo.

One more thing, the alien's designs in this episode were really cool, and some disgusting, especially that emperor. I think that alien who talks through is eye is hilarious, so props who designed those aliens.

This was one the first I saw of this show back in about '99 when the planets aligned and a free to air channel here showed a DCAU show - his 'Excuse Me?' to Lois' whacking is the best thing about the episode.

I love this episode. I think part 2 is slightly better, and funnier, but this episode still stands as one of Superman's best. I thought the Preserver was a lame villain, but Supe's chemistry with The Main Man more than made up for it.

Plus? Lobo = best. Blech. Ever! :D

Great episode!! Dini loves his light, fun scripts and I think this is one of his best. Had me actually laughing out loud in a bunch of places. Just great, great stuff.

Lobo was the character who really got me into DC comics - before I disovered Lobo (and then later the entire DCU) I was mainly into British stuff (2000AD) and Marvel (mainly X titles).

Subsequently it was Lobo who really got me into the Bruce Timm shows - I was aware of B:TAS but was not overly obsessed with it. When I heard that they done a Superman show in the same style and Lobo had appeared I suddenly became very interested... a few months after I'd heard about it I found a ridiculously cheap double S:TAS VHS set in the Virgin Megastore and even though I wasn't sure if Lobo was on there I took the fact that two of the episodes were called "The Main Man" as a pretty good sign! I watched those two VHS over and over and I never really looked back!

Interesting side story... a few years ago when I got a personal tour of the DC Comics offices (from Bob Schreck!) I tried to play everything real cool even though I was in geek heaven! I saw original art from books such as Miller's "Dark Knight Strikes Back" and Perez's "JLA/Avengers" long before they were published but I never showed how giddy I was... until we walked past long-time Lobo editor Dan Raspler's office and I just had to say hi (and we *****ed about the way the character was being handled in the Young Justice comics)!

So anyway as you can see Lobo is at the very heart of my geekdom! :D

I am really fond of this 2-parter from seeing it when I was little, and I've always thought Lobo was a very unique villain, which gave him something enjoyable to his character. I voted 4 and 1/2.

Lobo rocks, plain and simple...so does this 2 parter. It also explains Superman's Fortress of solitude animal collection.

4 1/2 stars

Part 2 was slightly better.

The Main Man is a personal favorite. Lobo is a cool character. The battle between Superman and Lobo throughout this episode was truly amazing. :D :D

Plus? Lobo = best. Blech. Ever! :D

Amen to that, Stu.

Love The Main Man 2 prtr., it's right up there with the Mxy episode in Superman's comedy department.

Some of my favorite Lobo moments:
"Holy fraggorroni, feels like I'm being torn apart! Cool."
"(blows kiss) I love you too."
"Last Call? Already?":D

Despite Lobo's many brilliant moments the funniest moment belongs to when Clark told Lois he was Superman intentionally.:D

Anyways great pair of awesome episodes though part 2 a little more, but only by a small margin.

Lobo is very funny, and that is what saved this episode from being bad. Never a fan of Alliens. Except J'onn.

4/5 not the best but I was never a big fan of Lobo but the episode manages to keep me hooked with its great fight scenes.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
