From Annecy Festival, an animated series based on Absolute Batman is in development.

From Variety
The announcement of an animated adaption of “Absolute Batman,” the award-winning and best-selling DC comic book series, was met with raucous applause and cheers by the Annecy’s crowd. Safran unveiled the new adult animated series project, written by Scott Snyder with art by Nick Dragotta, as creators shared first look images of the upcoming series. Scott Snyder will serve as executive producer and showrunner, with Dragotta as producer.

It is a fully CG animated series.

It shows how big a deal the Absolute universe is that it's only been around for two years and is already getting adapted into a cartoon O_o.

But I also kind of get it? It's been likened a lot to a manga-style take on the DC Universe and now it might be adapted like manga into anime :).

I hope the CG is good .

I cannot wait for this. For anyone not up to speed on Absolute DC, here is a summary from Wikipedia.

This should be fun. I wasn't expecting the next Batman cartoon to be this much of an Elseworlds concept.

Maybe this will be the start of a potential DCAAU (DC Absolute Animated Universe). I mean there are other comic titles in the Absolute line to work with.

I definitely think if this does well than cartoons about Absolute Superman and Wonder Woman should be on the table.

Although it is kind of funny that there are now four concurrently running Batman cartoons in production :p.

Maybe I'm being cynical, but I don't see the other series getting shows. They're doing great, but AB is a MONSTER in sales. I hope to be wrong, though.

I'm not concerned with the turnaround, especially since we seem to be getting less episodes and larger production schedules. I'm sure having Snyder and Dragotta will help with the pace and even create good "filler" if needed. Speaking of, I'm hoping there's other showrunners experienced with animation, since this is their first project in that field.

I'm not against CGI, but I don't think it suits the art style and energy that the comic is known for. "Abomination" would be very challenging to pull off.

At the very least I can see them adapting Absolute WW's team-up story and treat it like a "stealth pilot," though I can see that AB being a juggernaut personally written by the guy behind the Absolute Universe who is directly involved in the production (and also it being Batman) gives it some preferential treatment :p.

I definitely think one ways this can improve on the comic is expanding on Bruce's friend group and some backstories. For all we know they might inject stuff that Snyder had planned to be in the comic but never had the time to include ;)!

Maybe if they have budget for like Arcane level of CG but I'm not sure they can pull that off .

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
