"Batman: Caped Crusader (Amazon Prime)" Animated Series News & Discussion Part 3 (Spoilers)

Also very excited to see Man-Bat. And pretty much a color version of a shot from the Strange Day short. And wow, so it seems like Riddler and Poison Ivy(?) have teamed up. edit: Was that a quick shot of Mad Monk?!

Looks pretty great.

Not sure if that's Poison Ivy but she looks good. Sure she's a rogue but still. Also interesting to have her and Riddler as sort of a Bonnie & Clyde duo.

Mad Hattie seems to be trying to give Batman some bad publicity. Sort of like Glorious Godfrey.

No comment on Joker but he seems threatening enough. Plus Roxy Rocket, Scarecrow, Man-Bat, and who knows who else will pop up.

Sane people don't dress like bats and do detective work for free. Never thought of it that way.

Ok! So, some things I noticed:
- Gray Ghost figure, poster (and maybe the Mad Bomber cars?) at 0:50
- Hugo Strange's Monster Men at 0:51
- That red hair with white stripe at 1:25 really makes me think of Jason Blood. He's seen better days, though.
- Although Man-Bat would be cool, the coloring of the scene plus Scarecrow's involvement makes me think that's a fear gas hallucination at 1:26
Was that a quick shot of Mad Monk?!
Pretty sure you're right but it also reminds me A LOT of the Chubala cult from the first story of Legends of the Dark Knight.

Thoughts:

- Seems like Riddler is more of a straight-up gangster than a calculating mastermind. Is this their way of getting around the actual riddle gimmick? Does he even still do riddles :p?

- So Mad Hatter here is a "think of the children!" type which is probably obscuring the criminal stuff SHE is doing .

- That really is straight up just the Rocketeer :rolleyes2:.

- I see Flass, but...no Bullock ?

- So...Batman and Harley working together? In the Scarecrow episode maybe ?

- Monster Men? Zombies? Is that Hugo Strange at 1:27-1:28 ?

- The Batplane :D!

- "Pennyworth, it's me" - I thought we were past this Pennyworth nonsense .

- Is that Poison Ivy? A Riddler henchgirl? Or both? I feel like they must know what people are going to think if you have a sexy redhead baddie in a green outfit O_o.

- Is there more than one Riddler episode? One with himself and one with the redhead ?

- Oh snap, the Mad Monk! And a Bat-Cult !

- Joker is still obsessed with Batman...I wonder what context he means to "awaken" him ?

This is going to be an out of the box suggestion, but I wonder if the Poison Ivy lookalike isn't Poison Ivy but Thorn of Rose and Thorn?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. She looks Poison Ivy-ish, but those earrings are making me think of Thorn.

Goodness, I need to get a Season Two page up for Aglets Are Sinister. I'm also thinking about updating the old pages a bit. I've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't from doing those Justice League recaps.

With the question of how many kids are safer with Batman around the scene at 1:21 with the monks or cult or whatever, reminded me of the bit from The New Frontier with Batman sacring the kid he saved from being sacrificed. Maybe that's where Carrie Kelley also comes in.

Read my mind. It was bothering me and I finally remembered her name. Glad it wasn't just me!

Maybe the Carrie/Grey Ghost episode is also the Mad Hatter episode :)?

I'm guessing the scene at 0:40 is the news that made it in the newspaper Bruce was reading in one of the first look images. The dead florist article. The heartbroken daughter seems to be a blonde so it might be a nod to Black Canary as speculated before. Or to make it more dramatic, that's who ends up being Riddler's partner.

At the :21 mark, is that Hugo Strange seen from behind? If so, could B:CC be confirmed to be in continuity with the Strange Days short this season?
It might be but I also thought the black man in a neck brace at 1:27 might be Strange as well.

I doubt Strange Days is canon here. Just Hugo Strange likely creating Monster Men, and Batman shooting his guns from the Bat-Plane, it happens every once in a while.

That shot (no pun intended) of someone getting gunned down at 0:42 feels reminscent of Solomon Grundy's origin shown in a flashback on Justice League. He would fit well alongside the other Monster Men or zombies or whatever.

Giving Riddler a female accomplice (Poison Ivy? Thorn?) and turning them into a Bonnie and Clyde duo seems fitting for the era, though I questing Riddler being part of that. He doesn't seem to leave any puzzles, but still leaves a question mark calling card (with the lipstick kiss being the dot).

I think the Man-Bat figure is a transformed Mad Monk. I think he's formed a cult that worships Batman, or taking it further, maybe even Barbatos.

Mad Hatter inducing moral panic is also neat. I wonder if she's inducing some hypnosis in her show to turn Gotham against Batman. Not that he's had a great reputation.

I've noticed that despite the season 1 finale and the description for season 2 mentioning Rupert Thorne, he's not in any of the promotional material. Will he be taken out fast or will he still be a recurring threat throughout the season?

She could be using hypnotic lipstick. They made a point of showing her applying lipstick in the trailer.

Mm, yeah, that could be it!

Another interesting take.

I presume he'll be one of the first victims of the Joker.

Nitpick but I don't think Dave Franco is confirmed; the Empire article says he's seemingly the voice actor for Riddler and point out a cast list hasn't been announced yet. I'd wait until one comes out. They also mention Firefly and I don't think he was confirmed either unless it's a mix-up with Roxy Rocket.

If Rupert Thorne wasn't in the first season, Thorne (presuming that is her), could have been a gender-flipped version of the character. :P

Is this Bruce as Matches Malone:

It'd be hilarious to me if they basically eschew the riddle gimmick and he's called the Riddler because he riddles crime scenes with his logo. Although I hope he's still super smart :).

Makes me wonder if Kirk Langstrom factors in at all .

Will we still get hypnotic hats ;)?

Even if Joker will probably kill him at some point, he's not really the kind of marketable bad guy you put in the trailer :ack:

To be honest if marketing hadn't mentioned Scarecrow or Roxy you would probably have confused either for Firefly since their looks are more like him than their usual designs.

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
