Cheers, folks! I wish everyone here the best!
Or they are exploring and browsing a lot of the streaming service's library out of pure curiosity to always try to find something new to them (new in the sense of "haven't seen it before"), and this is without factoring that Disney+'s algorythm, for example, recommends plenty of both old and new...
I don't think that kids have a real awareness of how old something is. I had no idea growing up of how old many of the cartoons I grew up watching actually were. To me, it was as if they were new. Disney classics are also like this for every generation.
Immature teenagers are probably the main...
The things you said in your comment seem to indicate that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with what the show is doing. At least I don't see anything you described as inherently a flaw. It's just not what you would rather see. And that's fine, there is nothing really wrong with you, and...
Good animated kids' shows are always being made though. That doesn't stop even during the toughest, most difficult moments of the industry. Random thing: my 7-year old niece really likes Shaun The Sheep, and also the Matilda movies.
They could tone down how many times they do the characters glitching, even though it makes sense from a narrative standpoint. Nevertheless, I love how the film developed Gwen, and there is no denying the raw, insane and absurd creativity and beauty on display in the visuals and animation. I love...
Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston talk about the strong criticisms about the state of animation at the time, but they see all the problems as opportunities. They say that budgets don't allow for another Pinocchio or Fantasia, but we don't need another Pinocchio or Fantasia, they were already made...
I'm trying to delete my account, but I'm getting no reply from the support e-mail in this site.
So, while I don't get any reply about deleting my account, I will talk here.
I really dislike comments like the ones I quoted.
First, the tone is needlessly aggressive.
Second, I really dislike...
Guys, I'm gonna delete my account. Not because I have anything against you guys, and not because of this particular discussion (though it is personally unpleasant to me).
It's just that I want to cut almost all internet forums from my life at this point, especially when it comes to art analyses...
I'm not criticizing you, but I have to make clear that strong criticisms against Pastoral Symphony come way before YouTube. They have always existed. Of all segments in the film, the Pastoral Symphony has always easily received by far the most criticism due to, according to its detractors...
We do a lot of evil things. While the "humans are the real monsters" trope can serve many stories and themes to make a point about all the bad things we do, and what needs to be done against them, it's also important to not forget that there are plenty of great people in the world too, and...
I mean, I don’t really see a story being tropey as a bad thing. Tropes are tropes for a reason, they are appealing situations and themes that people have always returned to, and always will. And we all have our biases towards some tropes, I love hero journey fantasies, and also "always a bigger...
The original Justice League cartoon from the 2000s (before it became Justice League Unlimited) wasn't far from being that, as pretty much every episode was at least a two-parter.
Nicholas Cage's character only appears towards the end of the film. The real meat is Miles, his father, his uncle, and also Spider-Gwen and Peter B. Parker.
If you are referring to the first Justice League show from the 2000a, it had a rough first season. It's only in Season 2, and in the three JLU seasons, that it becomes a bona-fide masterpiece.
I watched some of that Avengers show you mention. Never closely followed it, but maybe I should. I...
The problem is that comic books simply aren't very mainstream, they can be hard to follow, and often aren't taken very seriously by the general public (a problem that has plagued comic book artists in the U.S. since forever). Unlike in Japan, where everyone reads some manga (in fact, the manga...
Random interesting trivia. Hayao Miyazaki, the most acclaimed and famous japanese animator (and also director of most Studio Ghibli classics), is not a fan of Disney's work. He far prefers the Fleischer Studios. On Disney's work, Miyazaki has said he admires and respect the craft in Disney's...
I would like to share this review giving 5 stars to the live-action Super Mario Bros. movie from the 90s. It's a truly fun review, congratulations to the author, who is the user Kermiszk from rateyourmusic.com.
Review begins here:
An Adaptational Masterpiece
Super Mario Bros. is a masterpiece...
Buck's big mistake is being insanely concerned with society's expectations, and being well seen, having a good and winning public image. It completely blinds him. Ultimately, all of his mistakes, like being a neglectful and unsupportive father, have as the root his obssession with what society...
CGI was the hot exciting new thing for some years. It had a novelty factor that it doesn't have anymore.
Of Disney's CG films from the 2000s, I love Meet The Robinsons, and I like Bolt. I have fond nostalgia and decent enjoyment of Chicken Little, I can't hate it, though I understand many of...
Whenever I watch a movie, I think it's often better to see it as its own work of art apart from the source material. Otherwise, there are lots of disappointment from films that change what are often seen as the core aspects and qualities of the book, even when the film is well regarded on itself...
@Zanneck
Bugs vs. Daffy can work amazingly well, and has in the past, but their duo is insanely hard to pull off, as the recycling of the Rabbit Season and Duck Season jokes showed through the years.
I have many problems with Michael Barrier, but his analysis of the cartoon shorts from the...
@Pilmedium
The thing about Porky Pig is that he is not meant to be a funny character. He is a likeable everyman who reacts to the madness around him, and often a voice of reason. He works specially well when paired with Daffy Duck.
But people are already experimenting more with CGI. Spider-Man Into The Spider-verse seems to be the boom of this trend, though shows like Arcane started production before it.
I recommend this video on the matter.
I can't help but remember what I read once about Walt Disney's thoughts on the matter (yes, I'm talking about the man). Art director Ken Anderson said that Walt HATED lines. Walt wanted them to appear as natural and soft as possible. Thick lines were...
In that sense, it becomes almost a different story in some ways. Like what Disney did in The Princess And The Frog when in comparison to the original tale, and that's part of why I don't think anyone felt it was weird for the main character to be black. Besides, nothing in either the tale or the...
Interesting comment. The Little Mermaid may not be a "white story" in the strict sense, but it has been cemented as such in popular culture, long before even Disney's own take. Also, the depiction of the Old West we see in classic westerns, and that defines the genre, is not really a historical...
I would like to share this comment I found in deviantart by user Nuclearzeon2 regarding all The Little Mermaid controversy:
"'Lol the only reason you hate the new Little Mermaid trailer is because you're racist'
Or MAYBE it's because we're tired of Hollywood taking white stories and...

This is the site blu-ray.com's official review of the 1980s Astro Boy anime blu-ray release, restored and remastered in Full HD.
I really like the Cars franchise, specially because I like the characters and themes of slowing down, winning is not everything, the journey is most important, getting old, being left behind, mentorship to the younger generation, and so on.
I understand many of the criticisms. Ultimately...
