An acquisition that is not relevant to me but happy for those who wanted this.

Arakawa Under the Bridge, Katanagatari Licensed by NIS America with BD/DVD sets

Price point is $69.99 msrp, with certain discounts on RightStuf, you could get both for about $45 each before they become eternal weekly specials (without gotanime and gotanime coupon). It's a really nice price point as I was expecting, as was many others, it to be much much higher. I am...

What Did You Buy This Month--March, 2011

There may be several inaccuracies/delays/cancellations in the release list. If you have GotAnime over at RightStuf, they have a chart of all the March DVD/BD/manga/etc releases. It has become a valuable asset to me in planning what to get that month. That said, the only things for certain are...

What Did You Buy This Month--February, 2011

Received and watched. Also, ordered Shadow Star Narutaru complete series from Amazon Marketplace for $18 and picked up Xam'd blu part 2 and Hidamari Sketch x365 set from the Sentai/S23 sale at TRSI. Oh and Alien Nine for even more crazy.

What Did You Buy This Month--February, 2011

Summer Wars (blu-ray) for me and I should hopefully receive it by end of next week. Slow month is slow.

    The market for fanservice.

Sekirei is an awful series, much like every fan service title out there. I can't think of one that manages to give fan service and deliver on a good, original story. Just goes to show people don't have good taste when it comes to anime. Although I guess its nothing new given Ikki Tousen doing...

What Did You Buy This Month--December, 2010

A few notes first, These have been, in typical Manga Entertainment fashion, indefinitely delayed; Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society (Blu-Ray) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: 2nd Gig: The Individual 11 (Blu-Ray) Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: The Laughing Man...

"Swat Kats - The Complete Series" coming to DVD on December 14th

Hopefully Warner has fixed their MOD program, because the last 7-8 films I've ordered are defective out of the 10 I own. I'm not the only one either, they've even shipped out blanks before. Or they become defective after two weeks. That said, as much as I'd love to own Swat Kats, I cannot...

FUNimation license-rescues Excel Saga, Noir and Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040

It will likely be part of the Classics line, which is one of the "end-of-life" lines (along with SAVE) so chances of a BD are pretty much nil. That and the fact nobody wants to experience a Funimation upscale again, no matter how awful or le~gasp good it is.

    2010-2011 Winter Anime Season Announced

Only three worthwhile series for next season. Hourou Musuko. Love the manga and from the PVs, I'll love the anime. Also, noitaminA. Fractale. noitaminA original anime? Haven't seen one of them since Eden of the East and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. Sold. Gosick. Loved the light novels, I expect good...

Toon Zone Talkback - "PERSONA -trinity soul-": Personally, I Think It's Great

The fact that it was slow, very inconsistent and it pretty much fell into the "all VGs to anime adaptions are mediocre at best to horrible" trap. It's pandering to fans of the source material and doesn't care about story in the second half at all. It's a train wreck. Basically what garfield15...

Toon Zone Talkback - "PERSONA -trinity soul-": Personally, I Think It's Great

Actually, according to what numbers I've heard and seen from the retailers carrying Persona, its sold ... well, horribly and by that I mean, for every 10-15 copies of Toradora, they sell 1 Persona set. The "no such thing as Tsukihime anime" meme has become "no such thing as Persona anime"...

    Favorite Miyazaki movie?

In full agreement with this. Anyways, I'm going with Nausicaa, with Totoro in second and Mononoke in third.

"62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards" Talkback (Spoilers)

I wasn't very impressed with the nominations this year. Lots of amazing stuff was snubbed by the Academy like Community. Although I will say Modern Family's victory was delicious. It's an amazing comedy and easily one of the best I've ever seen. I was equally happy to see Top Chef beat out...

    Studio Ghibli is [NOT] closing

Miyazaki has said, at least, the Porco Rosso sequel is not happening and was a mistranslation. Also, it'd help if a ? was added to the end of the topic title [edit] or that, thanks GWOtaku. As far as Ghibli closing, that is just wild and rampant speculation on this guys part. They've got two...

Toon Zone Talkback - Bandai Entertainment Announces New October Titles Including "Kurokami" Part 3

DVD replication was the reason why Bandai Ent had all those recalls, defective discs and all that less than desirable stuff. With the move to a better replicator, Technicolor, who also handles a heckuva lot of Hollywood stuff, delays are inevitable. However, the discs work. I don't complain. I'm...

    Otakon 2010 Talkback

Looks like Bandai Ent has two announcements. They've got two timers and two black boxes up on their website. One might also think one of them will be another Kannagi-style release given they have store pages and DVD pages setup for one of them.

San Diego's Comic Con 2010 [Info & Discussions]

Bandai Entertainment will be having a panel on Friday and they've already hinted at something, as per Twitter: "San Diego Comic-Con is next week...maybe we'll have announcements? \(^o^)/" The real shame of it all is that Bandai's panel is 6:30-7:30 pst and Funimation's is 6:00 to 7:00 pst...

Toonzone Talkback-FUNi Announces New Oct. Titles Including "Birdy the Mighty Decode"

Seems like just Birdy the Mighty Decode Season 1 for me. Might get the Last Exile BD, but my Geneon DVDs look amazing so the BD will have to be a heckofalot better to double-dip.

San Diego's Comic Con 2010 [Info & Discussions]

Maybe the manga, but not the anime. The anime seems pretty much in the hands Walt Disney, who could realistically have it. Viz having the anime would pretty much mean no BD, which for something as nice as Heroman, would be travesty.

    Best Buy Anime Sale

Simple, I can just wait for an eventual SAVE set or reprice and get it much cheaper and save even more. Funimation titles are never a top priority because I know theres always a cheaper release coming eventually.

    Best Buy Anime Sale

Eh, all of it is Funimation - if it had included a bit more of a choice like MB, Section23 and Bandai I'd probably buy some stuff since those co's are what I really need.

    Anime Expo 2010 Discussion

The real winner of this convention is definitely a tie between Nozomi and Aniplex for myself. I'll be buying all of what Aniplex announced, i.e. Durarara!! and the thought and idea that Kara no Kyoukai is next on their list makes me giddy. As for Nozomi's acquisitions, I probably wouldn't be...

Toon Zone Talkback - Anime Expo 2010: FUNimation Licenses 17 Properties, Announces New Simulcasts

The only simulcast that means something to me is Shiki. All the rest are pretty useless to me. None of the Geneon catalog rescues mean anything to me unless they release Lain and Haibane Renmei (Texhnolyze looks good enough on DVD as it is) on BD later down the road and give them good treatment...
