Dr. Stone Science Future: “Fire” Episode 83 Recap

Last episode began with an ominous threat from the “Why Man,” but said big cliffhanger doesn’t play into the plot of this episode as our heroes kind of brush off the massive threat and acknowledge that they will have to deal with the “Why Man.” First, they have to go to space to confront him. To do that, they need to build their spaceship, dune buggy, and space suit for their spacefaring mission. The first stop on their trip is Spain, which only takes a week on the newly upgraded Perseus.

When arriving at Spain, the Kingdom of Science’s first mission is to get some olives, because olives are yummy. Also because olives are used to make olive oil. Francois creates some delicious Mediterranean dishes for the Kingdom of Science to try. Senku says that they should do some sightseeing, but the thing is that in this new stone age, all of Spain’s manmade landmarks are long gone. The Kingdom of Science uses their depetrification formula on the Spaniards. A few members know Spanish, but most of the team only speaks Japanese. Francois serves the Spaniards some delectable dishes and they say “Gracias.” Francois explains that gracias means thank you. Suddenly a bull charges at Ryusui, but he uses a red cloth to get the bull to charge at a tree.

Since it’s Spain, it’s a required cliche to have a bullfight. Senku also has introduced a new piece of twenty-first century society in the stone world, physical currency in the form of coins made out of precious metals. Said coins feature notable figures from the Kingdom of Science including Senku himself. Yeah, I’m beginning to think Senku can be a little bit vain sometimes. At the very least, he achieved what Three Dog Night was never able to do as he has been to Spain (okay kids, ask your parents to explain that joke).

Senku points out that the next place of interest is India, because India is known for having STEM geniuses who could help them on their journey to create a spaceship. The half of the Kingdom of Science that is from the Stone World have no idea where India is. Senku shows the globe and how far away India is from Spain, which is pretty dang far away. The plan is to use the Suez Canal to take a shortcut rather than going all the way around Africa. Our heroes use a hot air balloon to survey the Suez Canal and it turns out that it is being blocked by what looks to be a giant beaver dam. Our heroes use a missile to blow this obstruction to smithereens and use their shortcut. Thus ends the episode and we await the big trip to India.

This episode ended up taking us to a place quite different than what the cliffhanger implied, but the promise of globetrotting adventures does sound fun. The show continues to point that thousands of years in the future, manmade landmarks would have long disappeared, but their are plenty of interesting natural landmarks in India our heroes could visit, such as the Ganges River and the Valley of Flowers. The “spaceship building world tour” arc is off to a fun start and I’m sure next week’s episode will have the Kingdom of Science learn some interesting facts about India.
