Via Ed Asner’s official Twitter account, the veteran actor of stage, screen, and TV has passed this morning at the age of 91.
We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head- Goodnight dad. We love you.

Besides being a legendary actor, famous for his role as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Asner was quite the voice actor. He garnered 3 Daytime Emmy nominations for his work which included Fish Police, Batman, Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1st nomination), Gargoyles, Freakazoid, Spider-Man (2nd nomination), WordGirl (3rd nomination), The Boondocks, and most recently American Dad. His finest work, of course, being that of Carl Fredricksen on Pixar’s Up in 2009 which won 2 Oscars including Best Animated Feature.
