"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Those lines and that music in the beginning of the video was from the Zoidc Chaotic Century: The Final Four marathon. It's a shamed I missed that marathon and never saw the ending to Zoids Guardian Force though.

Is this some kind of NBC It's new to us kind of thing, or is this legit. Come on don't be playing jokes about that with us.

Don't really watch Thundercats, I just wish them luck, but I love Sym Bonic Titan, I would hope at the very least, they can do those 10 episodes that was written to finish off the series.

Edit: Checked the link, it is not offical. Figured I would have heard about it by now if it was true.

The Man in Black already said that he and another user created the trailer, so I don't see why you'd think that it was official. Plus, if they were going to get new episodes, it would have been huge news. There's also the issue that they couldn't get new episodes for at least Thundercats that quickly and Toonami's budget couldn't afford to help them out either. Personally, while I wouldn't mind a second season of Thundercats, I think that I'd prefer another season of Sym-Bionic Titan instead. While I still don't think that I like the series as many other people here do, it is better than I remember it from when in premiered on Cartoon Network, the series used its twenty episodes more effectively than Thundercats did with its season and had a more unique/creative premise that really should have gotten at least one more season to wrap up its storyline. Although, if either series has a chance of getting new episodes, it would probably be Thundercats due to how it's an established franchise and getting better ratings.

Update on the Tumblr page just showed up.

I'm happy about Bleach finally going HD starting tomorrow and them acknowledging the HD stretch issue and that there's nothing they can do about it. Turner networks are quite infamous for it (Discovery networks do it too) and they seem hellbent on keeping things stretched despite it being wrong.

So, it turns out a lot of people are complaining about how Inuyasha's credits will be sped now. Really? They are doing so to fix the sync issue with the actual show itself, which is more important compared to the credits. Besides, we should be lucky that Adult Swim has yet to marginalize the end credits to all shows like every other network does, including Regular CN. I'd rather have the credits slightly sped up than have all of the credits redone and squished to accommodate additional time for promos, or worse having the final scene of the episode squished while the credits run (Nick does this).

To be honest, I really don't get what the big deal is with either speeding up or replacing the opening or ending credits. I remember when Naruto came back, a few people complained about the opening and closing not being the real ones. The episode was uncut, so I don't get why such a fuss was made over the credits. With Inuyasha, I get it even less, considering it airs at 5 in the morning, where barely anyone is watching it.

Most people are probably complaining about the ending credits being speed up because of nostalgia. It was a pretty big part of my childhood to watch the second ending of Inuyasha play with its catchy soundtrack.

Nevertheless, viewers need to start learning to be grateful and stop complaining about the silliest of things. Want to watch and hear an ending song? Search it up on youtube.

Actually, considering how quickly Youtube pulls stuff like that down or mutes the audio, it's more difficult than you think. XD

You win pie.

The problem is Aniplex. Inuyasha's music is controlled by avex which seems to be looser about this kind of thing. But Naruto and Bleach and a zillion other anime on AS that get edited or removed OPs and EDs are controlled by Aniplex which is really on the ball with stuff winding up on Youtube.

Can't people just watch these episodes with their ending credits intact on Vizanime.com. Also, wasn't Viz recently reissuing the season sets of Inuyasha at a cheaper price recently?

I love that the Toonami crew is open enough to talk about the whole stretching thing that Turner networks seem to do. And it's awesome that they can now broadcast new episodes of Bleach in HD. I'll be sure to tune in!

My 23rd favorite anime eh? (although it's slipping down the ranks quite a bit recently)

If this is true then it'll be the best aquisition the block has made since it's revival. Although Soul Eater is only an above-average shonen series (and its ending is stupid as hell), it's well-animated, popular, relatively recent, nicely paced, and light enough to fit next to Naruto and Thundercats while also being dark enough to make it stand out next to them. Its 51 episode length means Toonami's got a premiering show that'll last a full year, which means they won't have to worry about replacing the other shows for the time being. Oh, and it should get good ratings, better than Samurai 7. Picture it folks. 4 shows on Toonami that get over a million viewers. Good stuff.

Personally, though, I sorta hope this isn't true. While I loved the show when I originally watched it, and it's a good show and a damn better shonen series than Naruto and Bleach (overall), it doesn't hold up quite well enough in comparison to my other anime favorites like Case Closed and Yu Yu Hakusho. More importantly, it means that a NEW series, created after 2010, recently dubbed, will not be comming to Toonami yet. I think we will get Michiko to Hachin on Toonami at some point because it's a Watannabe series, but I really think Toonami needs a fresher series now rather than later, preferably one not released on dvd beforehand (or at least less than six months beforehand). So, I can't really be excited for Soul Eater if it really is comming to Toonami, but I will watch, and I DO and WILL enjoy it, but I really hope the show replacing Thundercats in March will be NEW, not "new."

I could live with this if it was true. I tried watching it on netflix (only got through 2 or 3 eps, though), and what I saw of it was pretty good. To be honest, though, I'm really hoping this is a fluke and that the show is going to be either Michiko to Hatchin or Samurai Champloo.

Here's the Samurai 7 promo that aired tonight:

I dunno, it's too random for Soul Eater to be listed instead of Samurai 7 or other shows [adult swim] already airs as placeholders, or just a plain old blank space. I think this'll be true.

I love Samurai Champloo, it's my ninth favorite anime, but I'd rather have Soul Eater over it on Toonami to be honest because Soul Eater hasn't aired on [adult swim] or another mainstream television network at all before, so it'd have more weight as a "new" show for the block and could draw more viewers.

We both can agree that the sooner Mitchiko to Hachin comes to Toonami, the better, though.

Have you tried reading the manga by any chance? Its currently ongoing. The ending was only an anime original.
Yeah, I've kept up with it. The art's pretty cool, but the pacing is all over the place. While the Arache arc was nice, the Noah arc is all over the place and goes kind of nowhere really, and a lot of chapters of the current arc are kinda meh to me. I also don't really care for Oxford and all the other secondary characters, and I feel I have no reason why I should because they are really bland and forgettable shonen characters to me. So, the manga is really a mixed-bag for me, but since it looks like it's in it's endgame, I'll stick around to the end and hope it ends on a high note.

Oh, I just saw the new Samurai 7 promo after The Boondocks! It was AWESOME! I haven't been keeping up with the show lately, but I'm watching these last two episodes for sure!

Regarding Soul Eater, the dubbed episodes have been removed from Hulu.
