"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Sentai / ADV still has these titles:
Fate / stay night
That version sucks and isn't canon.
Elfen Lied
BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
The Familiar of Zero
No.
Dream Eater Merry
No.
Battle Girls, Time Paradox
That show is horrid.
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen
Too old and the dub sucks.
No.
Daphne, In the Brilliant Blue
All right you just copy and pasted this list from ANN didn't you?
ArgentoSoma
Boring as hell.
No.
Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water
That show is 25 years old.

Sakura Wars (TV)
Why?

Infinite Stratos
Guin Saga
Queen's Blade: Rebellion (season 3)
Thank you for proving my point for me.

Akira was 25 years old, yet it aired on Toonami.
Nadia is also getting a HD remaster and a Blu-ray release.

Akira's also a big budget movie that looks better than most animated films made today, whereas Nadia's a low budget TV show that shows its age a lot more.

By the way, I've mentioned this in the Clone Wars talkback as well, but from tonight onward, Clone Wars is not only new to Toonami, but Adult Swim as well. Adult Swim previously only aired up to the end of season 1, and we've finally reached season 2.

Out of all the choices in that list, Scry-Ed was the only one that made much sense. I may love Orphen, but it is pretty old.

Too old and the dub sucks.

Blasphemy. (Don't care about script changes.)

I'm surprised Gatchaman Crowds wasn't listed. It's really the most Toonami-ready show in Sentai's catalog right now. It's subversive and weird and relies on a heroine that people love/hate (I personally find Hajime endearing), but it could catch on with people and definitely fills the action quota. It really depends on how good the dub winds up being. If it's Stephen Foster directing with Hilary Haag screeching away as Hajime the dub's a lost cause.

Jason DeMarco tweeted earlier that they're working on getting the full opening and ending themes for Space Dandy:

#toonami fans- don't get used to is running the full open for Bleach again. That was actually a glitch! We ARE working on showing...

...the full open and close for SPACE DANDY, however! Stay tuned!

So, what happened to that?

I hope Toonami doesn't air HotD, personally. Sounds really trashy.

We already complain about the fanservice in Sword Art Online.

High School of the Dead
...no. Just, no.

Fate / stay night
I'd rather see the new version instead.

Elfen Lied
That ain't happening. Too much gore and nudity (Same reason Gantz will never air on Toonami either).

The Familiar of Zero
Dream Eater Merry
Battle Girls, Time Paradox
Never watched Battle Girls, but none of those would work, let alone fit on Toonami.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen
Too old, and the dub isn't all that great.

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing this on Toonami someday.

Daphne, In the Brilliant Blue
Never watched it.

ArgentoSoma
Saw this one on Adult Swim VoD years ago. Also, it's kinda old, so ..... not likely a good fit.

Never watched it, but it's from the same people who did Eureka 7, so I don't know if this show would work.

Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water
No. Just no.

S-CRY-ed (aired)
I wouldn't mind seeing this on Adult Swim again, but that's probably not happening.

And if the licenses haven't expired, they might still have these:
RAhXePhON
Gilgamesh
Sorcerer Hunters
Rune Soldier
No to all of the above, except for RahXephon.

While there's some of the sites there I wouldn't mind seeing, I think there're many other shows they should rather get than these.

Toonami airing Kill la Kill and S-CRY-ed back-to-back would be amazing.

Why would you air a visual feast next to rather poorly animated show like s.Cry.ed? Air it next to Gurren Lagann. That's the ticket.

You're implying KLK has animation outside of last week.

As for Crowds... that crap would bomb harder than Tunguska.

What's with all the requests for s.CRY.ed all of a sudden? Frankly, I'd rank it among the ten worst anime I'd ever seen.

Sentai can keep it, for all I care.

Both shows revolve around a rivalry between two contrasting leads, and are insanely fun and over the top.

Seeing Kazuma vs Ryuhou after Ryuuko vs Satsuki would just feel so right.

I'd rather never see Hisashi Hiirai on CN ever again but that's just me.

I'd rather have Big O Season 1 back on the block, which Sentai currently has.

Sorry, but that show doesn't nearly hold a candle to the original Gatchaman series, which many of us remember as G-Force in the states.

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
