Is there a Smallville revival being developed?

I know Smallville has been off the air for 7 years, but many cast members like Justin Hartley, Kristin Kreuk and Callum Blue want a reunion of the show either in live-action or a TV film. But recently, Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum responded to a fan at Awesome-Con in Washington D.C last month by saying they would be interested in doing a animated Smallville revival. But I prefer a live-action revival because I want to see the stories from the Season 11 comics adapted in live-action.

Sure, Smallville probably outstayed its welcome during its initial run, but considering all the success the Arrowverse is having right now, a live-action revival of Smallville on the same channel could be exactly what superhero fans need to pop the cherry on top of an already delicious selection. There's already a petition to show Smallville Season 11 in live-action. The only difference is Chloe won't be back because Allison Mack is under house arrest with her parents.

To my uncertain knowledge there is no such revival being considered.

No, not yet. But considering revival is an antidote for our times, The CW might consider reviving shows like this one and Beauty and the Beast in order to compete with ABC, NBC and Fox TV. I know it's gonna be awkward, but it's inevitable.

Smallville is a show that I continually lose fondness for, as more time passes by. At this point, a revival of something off the wall like even Lois and Clark would probably get me more excited.

Agreed!! Sometimes, shows like The X-Filles that we thought are never coming back do the unthinkable and deliver us new episodes. Soon, Welling could overcome his allergy of wearing the Superman costume and air new episodes of this fantastic prequel show!! People just grow fondness for new episodes of old shows these days.

Brodie? You might want to re-read Rick's post. You two aren't exactly on the same side of this subject. For that matter, I tend to agree with Rick; let Smallville stay in the past.

Brodie didn't provide a source, so maybe he's trolling and making things up to stir conversation.

'Sides, we already know one player won't be back (Allison Mack)....

Of course not, but neither has he made any actual claims. The whole thread is speculative (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Just wanted to point out, the article with Hartley is from 2016...

There was a thread about a possible animated sequel for Smallville recently, based on the comments from Welling and Rosenbaum.

I personally don't care that much since I never watched that many episodes of the show. I might check out if an animated series comes out but I kind of doubt that will ever happen.

Who's arguing? As far as I know this is still just a friendly discussion. And there is a long way to go from actors wanting a reunion to a new series or movie getting made.

I thought you guys were, but since you were agreeing with each other that Smallville will never come back, I thought I'd show you the links, so you can see that Welling has been increasingly embracing his Smallville roots to show interest in a Smallville revival.

I loved Smallville back in the day, but to me, no Chloe = no Smallville. I just don't see a way around it.
