General International TV Channels Thread

Vodafone "kinda" does that in RO, but classic set top boxes are still offered by Orange and Digi.
Here they were discontintinued in April. Even the old customers have to get a new box because the support of the older devices are gone.

However people gave them too much backlash for missing channel numbers in the remote so they at least gave the new remote. I'm fine with streaming box but if linear channels are included, you need channel numbers to quickly jump to a certain one.

What, I thought it was always ETV1 like you see now. I learn something new a lot.

Game One Hungary continuities from 2000:

Ah yes, this was Minimax's very first timeshared channel between May 2000 and September 2001 respectively

At the time when Minimax started to timeshare channels in Hungary — and other 3 countries too —, it had the same playout as Minimax's

Extreme Sports Channel has some boring idents nowadays, if you ask me....

They still use that logo, facepalm

Also, TV1 was a failed attempt at a third private channel in Estonia. It closed in 2001, the previous year Polsat bought it and led it to financial ruin

How much before the other -Box channels get hit by the Canal+ification of the logos?
Likely wont happen, i'm afraid...
Sure that the FilmBox+ rebranding was made only destinated to the FilmBox channels.
Same issue to not rebrand is going up to Dizi Channel.

About the Canal+ thing: I have to admit that, since childhood, I've never warmed up to the Futura font used for TV logos and general promotions. It doesn't look "mature" enough, but more than that, it looks a bit dated and not elegant,

Coupled with some of the "schematic" French-graphics of the early 2000s, I never warmed up to Tele+/Canal+, Sky always seemed superior

Said that, the Tele+ graphics were and always will remain superior to the Canal+ ones of that era

What I mean by "French approach" (and often, to be fair, German too, as well as general European) on presentation against the extremely better "genuine/fun/spontaneous" approach "British approach", I mean that many French promos, even to these days, are often standardized basically clips they have to say the date and time with stings at the beginning etc.., no fun about it. The idents, when they exist, are also not very fun

For instance

BBC and Channel 4 (especially C4)

E4 // Peep Show Continuity // Xmas Day 2007

Since the Sky acquisiton of the Tele+ and Stream channels, Sky Italy is much more "British"-like

For some reason, ID EMEA has the Bulgarian ad break ident kinda "broken":

ID EMEA airing Bulgarian commercials?
This is the first time hearing this...i know there is no advertising insert, looking up from romanian subfeed (with RO subtitles), while Food Network EMEA has advertising insert for Romania. Does Food Network EMEA on Bulgaria subfeed has the same thing as Romanian one?

No, no, the other channels not getting hit by the Canal+ification is actually a plus.

I was saying that this sounded like Game One (my beloved) slander but, no, no, you're not wrong. They keep the graphics quite "grounded".
(Waiting room for the Sky rebrand in Italy, curious to see what they'll do with Sky Classica and the Italy-only channels like Sky Adventure and Sky Serie.)

STAR Channel Portugal to air the OG Toy Story trilogy this weekend.

Yeah, Tele+ Italy did its own thing. They refused to do what the French did, but they sorta predicted what the French Canal+ would do within 15 or so years. I also don't get it why the Canal+ turn of the millennium graphics attracted a huge rabbit hole among DeviantART kids. Maybe they were lured by simple graphics.

Sometimes I wish that Blaze Italy respawned. (And I live with the delusion that it will happen at one point, as Sky and Hearst are in a good standing relationship (it would be funny if it is in time for the 10th anniversary of the channel in Italy (22nd of March 2017 was the launch date)) and somehow, its final LCN, 127, was left empty on satellite.)

And at least, this one is more plausible than the other channels I wish respawned in Italy (AXN, Studio Universal and in minor measure, ID)... )
