You are right, because there are OTHER things it has to worry about. Like having absolutely NO NEW shows and absolutely abysmal ratings, which are STILL a concern, no matter how much they are being downplayed. Digimon Beatbreak is not a slice of life show, it is a mostly older teen skewing action adventure anime that really does fit Toonami. DeMarco HATED Bleach but even he admitted the ratings made it worth airing.

Again at this points, beggars cant be chosers and even at its peak Toonami did have shows forced onto them. I wonder why Toei didnt force them to air Digimon, because despite how much DeMarco hates it, it would have been a blessing in Disguise. A new show during a drought era.

But again, we need all the new shows we can get at this point. And Toonami aired freaking Hamtaro at one point. People really shouldnt be "Why would Toonami air that? It doesnt fit the block!" at this point.

Digimon Beatbreak is a good show, but I can't imagine it airing on Adult Swim. It can get dark with its world building and the recent arc in particular had some deaths, but it's still a toyetic series aimed more so at kids. It wouldn't fit on Toonami and that still should be something to keep in mind. Not only were the circumstances behind Hamtaro different, but that was a different era for the block altogether. Cartoon Network had a much bigger say on what ended up on Toonami, which is why shows like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Bakugan were airing during the Saturday nights era of the block. The current Toonami crew wouldn't have that kind of issue and would have much more say on what they air.

I wouldn't really call Digimon Beatbreak's audience as being for older teens. Most of the cast are teenagers, if not adults, but that doesn't necessarily reflect the target demographic age. That would be like saying Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's was aimed at an older audience because of the casts being mostly young adults. Bleach still fits with Toonami, while a show like Digimon Beatbreak doesn't.

Digimon has always had the reputation of being a toyetic kids' series and would feel out of place on a block mostly known for violent battle shonen. I would say that the Digimon Beatbreak dub has gotten some publicity for inserting awkward "damns" and "hells" into the script. Boruto also had "damns" and "hells" awkwardly forced into the script, but that did nothing to keep the show from flopping on Toonami. Just the whole phenomenon of adding taboo words to what should be Y-7 anime just to make them seem a little edgier feels pretty cringey to me. Both when Boruto and Digimon Beatbreak did it.

It show looks like an edgier version of 2010s era Cartoon Network dramedy cartoon created by the Regular Show guy with hardly anything to do with action cartoons.

The webcomic is readily available to read if you are interested in getting a taster. It really doesn’t feel like Toonami material, really it doesn’t feel like AS material either. More something I’d expect to see on Netflix.

As for BD and VB, I think those are just from an era when Toonami didn’t need to pillage AS shows to fill its time. As we heard in the recent interview, they see Toonami as a way to get their content in front of more eyes, which will only apply to currently running shows.

Toei can’t force them to do anything. Digimon is for little kids, they would be fools to accept that.

Yea, I have noticed this with a lot of discussion of this particular Digimon series, fans of it try REALLY hard to convince others it’s skewed towards an older audience.

It often comes off as them trying to convince themselves they aren’t watching a show meant to sell toys to preteens.

There's more of a chance Armiger would want it on Toonami for nostalgia's sake (they're even printing a VHS as a Kickstarter reward for Tenchi Galaxy) than the Japanese companies, but I'm more curious as to whether any of this actually happens before figuring out if it'll be on Toonami.

Tenchi has had many, many many franchise failures in recent years, I can’t imagine this will break that streak. Not sure why people are so persistent about keeping this series that peaked in the 90s going when its creator had clearly lost his direction.

Supposedly this is going to be closer to universe than those awful 2010s OVAs. But the legality of licensing of it even being fully produced let alone aired on Toonami is dubious.

Yea, I don’t think people are realizing that this kickstarter effort is for a pilot, not a full series. 500k will get you about 10 minutes worth of episode. The pilot would then need to appeal and sell to a studio to be made into a full season. Which considering they need to crowdfund for this thing, is unlikely.

Even if it does get off the ground, it would be at least 1-2 years for the pilot to be made, then if it does sell, it would be another 2-3 years for the actual season to be made since every anime studio is always booked up multiple years out. So it’s not even in consideration for a Toonami run any time soon.

If both of them get the boot and we get two new shows, that’s a good chance to revitalize the currently extremely lethargic lineup.

On the other hand, this is another point towards a potential President Curtis rerun on Toonami.

Yikes. I think picking up both Blue Lock and Tokyo Revengers might've screwed their budget. This is literally late ASA and early 2025 all over again.

Well, it could be worse...they could've done a double bill of Gemusetto and Rick and Morty: The Anime.

Not starting with Progressive at least means hopefully it’s only three-week filler and not a permanent FLCL slot.

Well now that’s impressive, they actually made a schedule change WORSE than my doomer prediction of President Curtis.

Feels like the block is in a 2008 style sunsetting mode. Shows end, and go unreplaced. Reruns pile up and the already dwindling audience loses interest. Next step is the block being cancelled and people shrugging their shoulders because it already feels dead.

I’m no fan of OP, but even that couldn’t double up for a few weeks? Almost like they are preserving it.

For the positive thinkers who think they are stalling - for what? They already had 4 flexible rerun slots they could do something with, what could be in the pipeline that needs 6 rerun slots?
