Sentai has so much anime they could start their own channel and Adult Swim STILL doesnt get any of it to air. I hope its because Sentai refuses and not because Toonami is too picky.

Sentai actually does have a linear channel on Plex/Pluto. It's mostly K-On and Clannad played on an infinite loop. There are at least linear anime FAST channels as an alternative to Toonami. It seems like Sentai and Crunchyroll both save most of the "good stuff" for their actual paid subscription service.

The main thing Toei has coming up that might be Toonami-bound is the World Trigger reboot. We'll be waiting at least a year on that, though, if the block can hold on to something in the meantime...

The 2014 series could've aired on Toonami, but instead it ended up (exclusive dub premieres and everything) on a Latino kids channel eight people got. (At least a shonen was on a kids channel for once? Though it was still TV-14.)

Because at this point Toonami could use a new show. ANY new show. I'm not even hyping up anything. It might be mediocre even but at least its a NEW SHOW. Although at this point I'd settle for just a final night for Toonami. The state it is in is SAD.

I understand wanting them to get a new show, even though it isn't like they haven't been able to get new shows in recent memory, but it just seems rather ridiculous to act so desperate for new content for the block to the point of recommending Digimon of all things.

You havent even watched the block itself by your own admission. And with a final night I meant a cool final night of movies or cool shows they could get for one night only. Like they could get Bleach for one night but pick that night to air the final episode of the anime.
I get the pushback for Digimon. I am not even suggesting it seriously, but I am insisting because at least it generates SOME discussion other than "There are no shows for Toonami to air."

Also closing down with a Bang is very important. It shows I care for a proper goodbye rather than just coasting.

To be fair, I don't think you can watch the block either. They've been able to air Bleach, so they'll most likely get the last season. I don't think that constantly insisting that they pick up Digimon really generates more discussion. People just disagree with you and explain why. Much like the block itself, I would hope that we're not in such dire straights that we need to just throw out random suggestions to generate discussion for the block. Besides that, people have brought up shows for Toonami to air. It isn't like they have no other options at all.

You didn't say closing down with a bang before. You just said that you were okay with the block ending, which didn't really imply much of a emotional investment in the block.

Of course, if in the coming months Toonami DOES get new shows that arent Digimon to shut me up about this, I'd be extremely glad and hope it goes on for years and years. Again even I dont think it will ever air Digimon myself, but at least it beats the unconstructive doomsaying.

I just don't understand this obsession with Toonami getting new shows. It isn't like they've gone through all of 2026 with just reruns. They've picked new shows and people are expecting that they're saving what budget they have for the last Bleach season. I'm not saying that there's no problems with the current lineup for anything like that. I just think you're being pretty melodramatic about it.

Saying that constantly bringing up Digimon is better than all of the doom and gloom talk isn't as big of a selling point either. I get tired of all of the doom and gloom talk here too, but constantly throwing to same nonsensical recommendation just because it's better than being a Negative Nancy about the block doesn't really make the inevitable future discussions on why Digimon airing on Toonami is nonsense sound particularly pleasing to me either.

In general, how was it compared to season 1?

I’ll be writing a review of Tokyo Revengers for the front page soon. I think it’s worth watching past season one. Oddly on Disney+ with Hulu, they list it as two seasons of around 24 episodes, rather than splitting up the second and third seasons as they were in Japan. I only made it as far as the Christmas arc so far, which was more of the same formula but with many new characters battling in a church on Christmas. Is that too sacrilegious to air on American TV? They did air content warnings before like five episodes of season one.

Their last Sentai pickup was the first week of 2023 when they got Made in Abyss S2. You have to feel there is something more that prevents Sentai shows from airing, because their history of ignoring them even when they are desperate stands out.

Though in some level of irony, they love using Sentai to dub their originals. You would think that would aid their interest in the rest of their catalog, but apparently not.

I just don't understand this obsession with Toonami getting new shows. It isn't like they've gone through all of 2026 with just reruns. They've picked new shows and people are expecting that they're saving what budget they have for the last Bleach season.

From 2012 to late 2019, there was no such things as delays or stalling. When a premier show ended, it was replaced the following normal week by a different new show.

This year, they have only acquired shows ONE time, in March when they got Blue Lock and Tokyo Revengers. If the budget is truly tapped after using it a single time, the very least they can do is reduce the amount of hours Toonami has so that people can simultaneously reduce their expectations. Insisting on keeping the block 4 hours long makes people expect it to not have any stretches of time where it sucks this hard.

This recent schedule update was the absolute perfect time to make this change since they could have cut one hour all at once, and if they do acquire something, they already had one flexible hour by adjusting the reruns,

For people actually tuning in week to week, the decline in the schedule quality is actually felt. If you aren’t watching it, it’s not a surprise that you don’t hold any opinions towards it because it barely affects you outside of periodically checking the schedule.

I thought that they picked up Dan Da Dan this year, but I must have mixed it up with last year. If they have only picked up one show this whole year, then I can understand the issues with the schedule a bit more. I still don't think it's bad enough to recommend any new show for them to pick up though. I don't know what their budget is like or what they're dealing with behind the scenes given the absolute dumpster fire that is WB management, but I imagine that there are reasons why they haven't shorten the block. Maybe that would do more long term harm than good.

DanDaDan season 2 aired on Toonami this year, but they revealed they had it last year with a “sneak peek” (don’t flatter yourself, guys) in December

In the 2010s, it was almost always Funimation's big AAA shonen titles, but after the Funiroll merger happened and Toonami lost its biggest supplier of titles, Toonami predictions are almost impossible now. It used to be a fun game in the 2010s where Toonzoners guessed the next Toonami show, and it was actually reasonably easy to predict. Bleach seems to be the only sure bet (even if it may not air until 2027). I thought that the next seasons of Blue Exorcist and Demon Slayer would be sure bets, but they have yet to come. Absolutely nobody predicted Tokyo Revengers and Blue Lock.

I agree with this, we shouldn’t be suggesting just anything because that doesn’t lead to any constructive discussion. The block deviates from its theme now and then, but rarely willingly. If you have been watching Toonami for awhile, you kinda know what they do and do not want to air, and suggestions should take that into consideration.

Maybe that would do more long term harm than good.

Can’t think of a single negative that would come from a cut aside from the obligatory community panic, which even that can be spun into a positive because it gets regular viewers into a “Toonami is dying” mindset so they tune in to “save” it.

Less bumps, less slot rotations, less work, less reruns. It’s not likely Toonami ever exceeds more than 4 consecutive premiers ever again, so it’s not really decreasing potential possibilities either.

Yea, looking back, I think I always had more fun predicting the schedule than I did actually watching the schedule. Used to be if a hot new Shonen was getting a dub, it was basically a lock for Toonami. Was just a matter of picking the right time.

Now we never know anything and the only consistently right prediction people can make is “nothing”.

Well, if Beatbreak isnt dark enough, maybe the next Digimon series might be. I normally woudnt insist on this but Toonami desperately NEEDS MORE NEW SHOWS. I would be ok with it simply closing down though.

Why are you so insistent on a block like Toonami airing crap like that?

If Toonami has exhausted it's shonen options, why not go with isekai? Isekai is clearly the second biggest type of action anime out there besides shonen manga adaptations.

There are possible shonen series they could air, but it seems like 2026 has been an "off" year for new shonen IPs, at least in my opinion. Don't know if Kill Blue or Black Torch would bring many viewers in.

Besides, isn't the theory right now that they are stalling for Bleach? That seems like a reason to hold out hope.

Kill Blue, Tougen Anki and Black Torch should have been aired on Toonami. Hell, there's absolutely no reason why BT in particular is on Crunchyroll of all places.

I think it's Williams Street being Williams Street, which is say, grossly incompetent.

Impossible, they would need to stall for well over a year. There aren’t even any active DB projects on the market right now, and as we saw with Daima, it will likely take around 8 months for one to even hit the block.

AS only owns the rights to S2, so they would have to fork up for S1, which wouldn’t be good optics with the block in its current state
