Viz is mostly known for their manga releases anymore. I don't think they license enough anime anymore to be a permanent help to Toonami. Not to mention I think they are owned by Shonen Jumps parent company. I doubt they would want to sell their North American manga distributor.
If Universal Japan was interested in buying Crunchyroll I would have no problem with it. I just don't trust any of the US based studios to do right by them. From what I can tell from the outside Sony doesn't seem to interfere to much with Funimation's operations. I consider that a good thing and...
I'm not saying that you shouldn't be skeptical. But shouldn't that skepticism aIso apply to anyone else who could have bought Crunchyroll? I have little faith that anyone in Hollywood would treat Crunchyroll any different then they were under AT&T. At least Sony has experience when it comes...
There's no way Sentai could afford to buy Crunchyroll. They can't even afford to outbid Crunchyroll or Funimation for current season shows let alone be able to come up with a billion dollars to buy Crunchyroll. I also think that Sony is the only one of the big Hollywood studios that gives a...
I wonder if some kind of relationship with Netflix would work. Sony has said that they aren't interested in having their own non anime streaming service. If they partnered with Netflix they offer Funimation/Crunchyroll as an add on to Netflix similar to how Disney+ offers Hulu as an add on. It...
I really don't see how this will be any different then when Funimation and Crunchyroll worked together before. Hasn't Crunchyroll been going down hill ever since AT&T took over. At least that is what I have gathered from reading about this on other boards. Do you think Disney, Paramount...
If Sony goes through with this it will be because Crunchyroll has a worldwide audience while Funimation is limited to about 5-10 countries. If Sony's plan was to make FunimationNow a worldwide brand like Crunchyroll then they might a well buy Crunchyroll while it is available. Besides Sony is...
I believe it was announced that the manga was in its climax. I think the plan was to split the final season in two so that the manga would have time to finish before the season ends.
My memory was wrong then. I thought they said it would later this year. Does anyone know if Viz has ever done a simudub before? To bad about Burn the Witch. I thought we were going to get a nice 13 episode series for it. I wonder if they would air Tiger & Bunny since it is getting a second season.
They could always get the Bleach - Thousand Year Blood War anime that is coming out later this year or even Burn the Witch which is set in the same universe.
I have wanted an animated Harry Potter series for years. I think a seven year run would work. One season for each book and one chapter per episode. That way nothing gets left out. If its successful they could even adapt the Cursed Child as an 8th season.
For my own idea what about Rick...
If its an animation for Bleach's final arc I hope that Kubo has spent time over the last few years to fix the ending. It would be interesting if the new anime had an ending that wasn't Kubo's rushed ending in Jump.
As far as his new work I think it will be a full series for the Burn the Witch...
The difference might be that How Not to Summon a Demon Lord was part of the Crunchyroll deal while this one is licensed solely by Funimation.
I wonder if the problem isn't the content but the amount of times it happens. If Sony's guidelines are similar to the way they determine movie rating...
I don't understand Sony at all. Why are they making movies about villains when they could be doing a Silk, Spider-Gwen, Scarlett Spider, or a Miles Morales Spider-Man movie. I know Miles is starring in Into the Spider-Verse but why not do that as a live action movie. Either that or stick to...
