"X-Men 97: Season Two Prelude Comic Will Be Released This June"

"There hasn’t been a word from Disney or Marvel Animation about Season Two of X-Men 97 for months and months. As of today, that still hasn’t changed, but Marvel COMICS has broken the silence. They’re publishing a “prelude comic” set between seasons 1 and 2 of the series, and the first issue will be released in June.

IF what that release date suggests is correct, then the second season of X-Men 97 could be premiering sometime this summer…which would mark over two years since the finale of Season One, which appeared in May of 2024. What we don’t comprehend is why this took so long when the show had a two-season order to begin with. Isn’t the point of those early renewals to keep a steady schedule?

Instead, X-Men 97 will face the same problem most other streaming shows have…by the time the new season rolls around, you will have forgotten what happened in the previous season. This problem will extend to the comic, so….here’s a recap of the situation as we left it:"

Any word on a DVD release or Blu-ray (or even Betamax) release yet? I don't pay for the garbage quality that Disney+ streams at.
No word on it, unfortunately and Betamax was discontinued a decade ago, so any possibility of a release on that format is very unlikely.

It's funny how Cable's X-Force is full of couples (JubileexSunspot and possibly Archangel/Psylocke) :p.

I honestly can't imagine any Mutant would want to work with Val if they found out about her involvement with Bastion/Magneto, so her involvement with X-Factor should be interesting. I wonder if anyone on the team other than Lorna and Alex will get dialogue. And Lorna apparently jumps ship to X-Corp .

Nice ad-hoc X-Factor costumes for Jean and Scott ;)!

Savage Wolverine :D!

Outside the novelty of adapting the Morrison costumes...the X-Corp's looks feel really boring in animation? It's a cartoon, you should be wearing colorful costumes/designs .

Though it is kind of cool that Kurt and Rogue get "New X-Men" costumes when they weren't really part of that era. Rogues seems based on her Xtreme X-Men costume :).

Magneto is aura farming so hard in his new look .

Kind of wild that he wrote the season 1 tie-in comic without having watched the show versus this time where he's actually seen it O_o.

I love Bishop referencing how he and Forge were buddies in an apocalyptic future even if Forge doesn't remember it :).

So Val has turned the X-Factor into a government gestapo against Mutants? Way to redeem yourself Val .

I wonder if we're going to see a time-skip where Jubilee grows her hair into a bob...

Given that season two will have nine episodes, this means the third season's fifth episode will be the 100th overall episode of X-Men: The Animated Series.

"X-Men 97 Season 2 Begins July 1 — Check Out The New Trailer"

x-men-97.jpg

"We had to wait longer than we expected to for the second season of X-Men 97. The order from the beginning was for two seasons (a third has been ordered since then), and usually when two are ordered at once it’s to prevent delays and endless waiting. We’re not sure why it took so long, but it makes the flashy two-minute trailer we got today feel like a refreshing oasis. Wolverine puts a stamp on it by recreating his iconic stance from the 1982 cover where he flashes his claws and beckons all challengers. “We’re BACK, baby” indeed.

In the first season finale, the X-Men managed to save the Earth from Asteroid M…but having been in space near the explosion of the giant rock, it appeared to the world that they perished. Instead, the incident created a time portal that scattered our heroes across the ages, with most of them winding up 5,000 years in the past."

So much stuff O_o!

Okay, so:

- Take a shot every time someone mentions "the 90's" in this trailer :p.

- Young Nate Grey :D!

- Recreating the iconic Frank Miller Wolverine cover .

- Emma Frost in a diamond lair? How on-brand :rolleyes2:.

- Dang, did they kill Magik/Ilyana in Genosha and that's what drives Colossus to become an Acolyte? Did they kill Iceman too :(?

- Acknowledging the Bronze Age X-Men roster with the 05 plus Polaris. Also I guess Lorna and Storm are now close friends :).

- Exodus is leading the Acolytes and they fight X-Corp ?

- Psylocke and Archangel fighting...Apocalypse Sentinels outside X-Corp Tower !?

- Danger :anime:!
Full EW article. Working on season 4, it seems.
We can look forward to season 4 and an X-Men season a year :proud:!

The biggest rumor floating around that also explains why season 2 is only 9 episodes long is that though season 2 was originally primed to be ready last year, they wanted to severely alter it to remove a lot of the ideas Beau DeMayo who had been one of the prime writers of the first season who was then fired and thus lost his touch over the show, brought to the table. Including the original ending that was being built up throughout the season that they aren't going with anymore thus had to realter a lot of things. I'm not sure how true any of this is since it does sound plausible and could also be Beau just sprouting things as we don't know the exact behind the scenes but that is something I heard. I do hope it's more Beau saying stuff no offense to him I'd just want the next seasons to be more in line with one and not worry about some drastic dip in quality.

I will say on a technical level the show is still living up to it's high standards and that like grand epic scale rendition of the theme song cover was good plus yeah setting up the goal is to get everyone back as Apocalypse is preparing to eliminate the X-Men for good in the different time lines is cool. Some of the lines again don't sound that good spoken in trailer like Rogue talking about Gambit or Wolverine's kind of obnoxious "we're back" at the end but yeah trailers aren't meant for showing exactly how a scene will go just selling an idea and they are selling a lot is happening and to get invested in that. So are we getting weekly schedules again because it keeps saying "X-Men season 2 is coming July 1st" but not really going into any specifics past that.
