Anyone seen "The Secret of Kells" yet? If not, SEE IT!

I bought the European dvd off of eBay a few months ago. Loved every minute of it, I had to say. However, the ending was rather weak when compared with the rest of the film.

Sounds promising, but I'm sort of disappointed that it's premiere is being pushed ahead.

Cartoons That You Missed Out On When They Originally Aired.

I remember catching the first few minutes of an Invader Zim episode on Nickelodeon, back when they still had the evening SLAM! block. I was intrigued, but I forgot about it soon after I changed the channel. In 2008, I decided to rent the Doom Doom Doom: Vol. 1 dvd at Blockbusters on a whim. I...

Toon Zone Talkback - Oscars: "Motion Capture Is Not Animation"

I believe that any type of mo-cap animation that attempts to be "realistic" and "detailed" has no actual artistry in it. Yes, it is lazy when animators and directors (Robert Zemeckis, as you said) do that. However, when a film, like Monster House and Happy Feet, have some sort of artistry or...

    Anyone still watch VHS?

I have a gigantic collection of VHS tapes from my childhood, which I still view from time to time. It gives me a nostalgic feeling, and the fuzzy resolution and slightly distorted sound takes me back. The VCR clock still says 12:00 after all these years, because I've never been able to figure...

Weird Al movie for CN cancelled

The only live-action production from CN that I was actually anticipating, and now it's cancelled. Of course, this does mean that other live-action film projects from CN are cancelled, but unfortunately, the same could happen with the animated film projects from CN.

    Worst cartoon on TV today

Basically, the toyetic animes shown in the US (Pokemon, Bakuman, Yu-Gi-Oh 5D, etc...) are all pretty bad.

Toon Zone Talkback - "The Clash of Triton": Release the Kraken Already!

I defnitely agree. In the ads for the episode, "Enchanted Tiki Dreams" that aired a while ago, there was a scene in the ad, in which Patrick accidentally destroyed the paradise he and Spongebob built for Squidward, then it cut to Squidward sobbing. I thought that scene would appear somewhere...

Does Anyone Remember Cartoon Cartoon Fridays?

I didn't start watching CN regularly until a few years ago, so I only have memories of the Fridays block used from 2003(?) to very recently.

SpongeBob "Clash of Triton" + Week of Premieres Talkback [7/5-9]

Lame. Even for a half-hour episode, it went by really quick. The ads made it look like the most epic Spongebob special of all time, while the actual thing mainly consisted of Neptune crying and Mr. Krabs whining about the party being ruined.

Dexter's Lab Season 1 DVD announced!

It's about time! In fact, think of all the other possibilities CN could explore with this "Hall of Fame" concept! Unfortunately, many of the more obscure Cartoon Cartoons (Sheep in the Big City, Robot Jones, etc...) probably won't be getting a DVD release, but there's always a small chance...

    Big-Lipped Alligator Moments

I thought it was piss. And yes, I do think that scene counts as a BLAM, because the film would've been just fine without it.

I believe you're talking about Brad Bird, although he probably was the only crew member who would later be in Pixar.

    Old-School CN Nostalgia Thread (1990s)

Thanks for the uploads. I thought I'd never see the Morning Crew intro ever again. And, by the way, that really is high quality. I wouldn't know it was recorded by camera if you hadn't specifically said.

New Gainax series- 'Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt' News and Discussion

Aside from the unusual animation (for an anime, that is), this is just what I've been expecting from Gainax: No-holds-barred ridiculousness that takes itself seriously. I really hope it gets at least a chance here in the US.

Toon Zone Talkback - Date for Fourth "Ice Age" Announced

It's a possibility. But CGI is too difficult a medium to shell out every product with every year, even if the products are cheapquels. Unless they were to make them in traditional animation. But, believe me, that would not be a pretty picture.

Toon Zone Talkback - Date for Fourth "Ice Age" Announced

It's actually the second highest grossing animated film of all-time. Wooh! Upper hand! But seriously, Ice Age may be as big of a franchise as Shrek, but it doesn't have as big of a company behind it, like Dreamworks. Blue Sky is still independent, am I correct in saying that? However...

I believe the "gift" is that the kids will be too distracted by the Great Dane to celebrate Mother's Day, enabling the moms to have the entire day to themselves. Just a theory.
