Since my last post, I've read:
The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen (21/25)
The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson (22/25) -- This one took me forever to finish. It was so unnecessarily long. A better editor needed to get their claws on it.
"Playing with God's Bowling Ball" by...
Since my last post, I've read:
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (16/25)
Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson (17/25)
Mitosis by Brandon Sanderson (18/25)
Firefight by Brandon Sanderson (19/25)
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson (20/25)
Up next is the second Mistborn book, The Well of...
There was also a shot of the team from the Legends of Tomorrow promo when Barry was running through the Speed Force.
I thought this was an excellent finale. The scene of Barry sitting with his mother as she died was rough. Eddie's fate didn't have much emotional impact for me because I never...
Since my last post, I've read
Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake (10/25)
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (11/25)
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater (12/25)
Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater (13/25)
Very Good Lives by J.K. Rowling (14/25)
Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta...
Two fantastic episodes in a row. Ahhh, I loved "Book of the Damned." Sam actually got to express emotions in this episode. With words. Shocking.
Also, not one but two classic rock songs in the episode.
This series was fantastic. Episode 10, "Nelson vs. Murdock," was probably the strongest episode for me, with the focus on Matt and Foggy's relationship. Nelson and Murdock, avocados at law! There's a moment when Foggy is berating Matt while Matt lays on the sofa and Matt sheds a tear while...
Last week's episode was embarrassingly bad, but this week's episode was phenomenal. Bobby is a piece that's really been missing from the show; when he returned, things just felt like they clicked naturally back into place. I was tearing up while Sam was reading Bobby's letter.
Since finishing the last book I posted about, I've read:
Veronica Mars: Mr. Kiss and Tell by Rob Thomas (4/25)
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon (5/25)
The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon (6/25)
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (7/25)
Ciy of Savages by Lee Kelly (8/25)
Anna Dressed in Blood by...
No snow here in northeast Georgia, but it's been raining while hovering at freezing most of the afternoon so trees and powerlines are freezing. The ice is definitely worrisome.
Finished The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin (3/25), the first of the Inheritance Trilogy. The mythology of the world was neat, but I never got an emotional attachment to the goings on in the book. I hear the second one is better, though.
I only read 20 of the 48 books I wanted to read in 2014 (not counting the reading I did for work), so I lowered my goal to 25 books in 2015.
I just finished I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson (1/25) and started Something Real by Heather Demetrios.
I just marathoned through the mid-season 2 finale of The 100, so I'll be ready for it to come back in January. I thought it was going to be a cheesy, teenage dystopian story when it was first being advertised, but wow, it's actually really good. And there are strong ladies everywhere! Can't wait...
I'm trying to streamline my collection a bit, so the list isn't super long:
Blu-ray:
Nikita season 3
Game of Thrones season 3
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Nikita season 4
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Supernatural season 9
Arrow season 2
The Legend of Korra...
In chronological order:
Veronica Mars: Such a fun, fan-centric experience
Divergent: Enjoy the books a lot, thought the film was mediocre
Captain America: The Winter Soldier: Quite good, liked even more on rewatch
X-Men: Days of Future Past: Loved it
How to Train Your Dragon 2: Love, love...

Merry Christmas, all! My family has our big celebration on Christmas Eve and open family gifts, so last night my brother and sister-in-law and their crazy dog came up for dinner and presents. My uncle, sister, and two-year-old niece are also visiting, so it was the biggest gathering for...
We got the tree up today, finally. We're later than usual on the Christmas train because my brother got married last weekend and we've been dealing with wedding preparations and travel rather than Christmas.
I finished my Christmas shopping at least.
I (try to) keep up with on a week-to-week basis:
Supernatural
The Flash
Arrow
Once Upon a Time
Scandal
How to Get Away with Murder
Castle
Covert Affairs
Suits
Game of Thrones (for those 10 weeks a year)
The list has been longer, but I dropped more shows than I picked up this season. Plus a few...
I voted before work this morning. There were more people voting at the polling location than I remember from the last time I voted, but it wasn't by any means packed; I was in and out in ten minutes.
No dressing up here; I just wore some Halloween-themed jewelry, ate some candy corn, and watched The Nightmare Before Christmas. Trick-or-treater-wise, we only had our next door neighbors come by with their two little girls. Not many kids in our neck of the woods.
I've been looking forward to Nyssa's return, and she didn't disappoint. Her grief at Sara being gone was heartbreaking and pitch perfect. I hope we get a lot more of her. Was excited to finally see Ra's as well.
I like how almost offended Malcolm seemed when the fight between him, Nyssa, and...
I love Felicity, and she's absolutely wonderful paired with Barry. I love their friendship -- since that's, unfortunately, all that it seems we'll ever get with the two of them.
Loved seeing Wentworth Miller back on my TV and he sure gives some good villain. What a great performance. His...
Well, that could have been better. So many angels, so many demons, so little brothers >.<
The Shining-esque bunker cat and mouse was actually really good -- I just wanted more. The whole thing felt very anti-climactic by the end.
This show continues to kick butt. The Barry/Joe relationship continues to be a highlight, but seeing Joe and Henry face to face was brilliant. And everything Barry/Henry is heart-wrenching as always.
I also love Barry and Caitlin's friendship. Lots of care and support there despite not knowing...
I recently read Gone Girl and Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. I've started her third book, Sharp Objects, as well as the memoir Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan
I'm still angry about Sara's death, but man this episode was heartbreaking. I was a wreck after the scene at her grave. I was pretty sure Diggle and Lyla would name their baby Sara, but it was still a really lovely moment. Actually, I just really loved how solid and supportive Diggle was in this...
I am so ridiculously, obnoxiously, head-over-heels for this show already. I love Joe being in on the secret and working through what it means for him and for Barry. His relationship with Barry is just... ugh my heart. I adored the voice over in this episode, too; they're having so much fun with...
The Winchester side of "Reichenbach," I thought, was actually pretty great. Feral demon!Dean was everything I wanted from that character, and I loved the Casablanca nod with Dean at the piano when the Winchesters finally reunited.
The angel storyline is still meh (though I like Hannah quite a...
Ugh, so mad. I can't even joy the Olicity storyline from the episode because I'm mad. I don't need Laurel to be the Black Canary, though the writing has been on the wall for ages, but even then, did Sara really need to die for that to happen? Laurel has already lost her boyfriend and she doesn't...
This was easily my favorite pilot of the fall so far. Grant Gustin is wonderful. Jesse L. Martin is wonderful. Candice Patton is wonderful. John Wesley Shipp is wonderful... Everyone is wonderful. Even the effects look quite good.
The scene with Barry and Oliver was great, but the final scene...
Definitely The Flash. Arrow is my favorite show on television right now, Barry's introduction episodes were fantastic, and I was a fan of Grant Gustin from his Glee days.
I'm also excited for Gotham, wary about Constantine, and intrigued by How to Get Away With Murder.
Usually between midnight and 1 AM. I get up around 8 in the morning during the week, 9 on weekends. I leave for work around 11:30AM, so I get up in time to workout for an hour.
