Braniac can't be dead...

I'm reading talk about Braniac's possible demise in Twilight. Many say he can't die because of an appearance in a Static Shock episode I haven't seen. But I have another reason why he can not be dead: he lives far in the future. Remember the STAS epsode "New Kids in Town"?

You can't keep a good villain down. With the possible exception of Steppenwolf (and even that is a question mark) I don't think any of the villains that "died" in Twilight is dead.

Brainiac can't really "die," he's obviously made back-up copies of himself. The only way to destroy him is to eliminate all of the copies of his program.

Brainiac dead? I don't think so...just like I don't think Darkseid's dead either. Or Desaad...Steppenwolf...maybe...but Brainiac, Desaad and Darkseid? I don't think so...Darkseid has "come back to life" so to speak in the comics a time or two if I'm not mistaken. Plus it has been said that he can bring people back to life with his omega beams that he had vaporised with his omega beams...I'm not sure but I think he's killed Desaad several times...when you think about it...experiencing death over and over again would be worse of a torment than eternal death. And Brainiac will always come back because he always find a way to rebuild his self.

Well Brainac's not dead after "Twlight" because he still reappears in Static Shock's "A League Of Their Own" which takes place after "Twlight" so he isn't dead.

Best rules for dealing with death in a comic-book superhero universe:

1. They ain't dead unless you see a body (or an appropriate substitute in the event of a disintegration).

2. Even if you see a body, that doesn't rule out a resurrection further along the line.

3. Death means absolutely nothing if you're talking about the X-Men.

Commit these rules to heart and internalize them as Carved in Superhero Story Stone and all kinds of problems you might have with a story where someone "dies."

The hows and whys are just details.

Brainiac has been "destroyed" numerous times. He always manages to leave a piece of himself behind (those where the JL got their piece which is featured in the Static Shock episode was not fully explained...)

The other confirmed death in "Twilight" was Desaad -- who died the same way as he did decades ago in the comics. However, missing his somewhat trusted confidant, Darkseid later used the omega effect to resurrect him.

I can't say if Darkseid has this ability in the animated world...

Obviously he does...remember Kalibak? I guess he could have teleported him but they made it appear that he killed him.

The only reason why I'm leery about animated Darkseid having that ability is because it would imply he could bring Turpin back to life.

What purpose would Darkseid have for bringing Turpin back to life? Besides...they wouldn't do that...it was a tribute to Jack Kirby. It would make "Apokolips...Now!" be an almost pointless episode. I don't see Bruce Timm and friends doing that.

I don't even know why they attempted to "kill" braniac at all. We all know he's alive, so why not just have him escape? Unless, of course, you like seeing the same thing happen repeatadly.

I figured that it was the remains of the Brainiac from Knight Time, since Batman obviously took Superman's advice to check his databases for any lingering Brainiac programming.

If he brought him back to life he would be doing it just to torture Superman. Darkseid could revive him to get Superman to accomplish some mission for him then when Superman has done as he has asked Darkseid in all his evilness would disintergrate Turpin again. Robbing him of his chance to save his friend.How mad do you think that would make Superman?

Actually, Jack Kirby did create Dan ("Terrible") Turpin in his "New Gods" comic book series in the 1970s.

But that doesn't answer the question.

Since Braniac had so many years between krypton exploding and the present day, I'd assume he has numerous copies of himself stored all over the universe.

The trick to beating him would be following him whenever he went to update his copies (since they seem to have his previous knowladge.) but I'd think he'd be smart enough to keep a few untouched.

Or, he may have a wireless connection to all his copies so they would have the same memories.

Even then, you could home in on the siginal to his drones.
