Cel Animated Show That Switched to Digital Coloring

There's a lot more than 5 cel segments. I did a bit of a deep dive on Wacky World awhile ago and while I can't remember specifics, there were about a dozen half hours that were cel animated.

The show has 3 specific animation styles throughout its 65 episodes
1. cel animated (mostly contained in the middle third of the show)
2. early digipaint (colors are in-between the dark cel and bright regular digipaint episodes. There's only around 5 of these)
3. regular digipaint (the vast majority of the show. The beginning and end of the show are all regular digipaint)

in a half hour show, each short contained will be the same category (likely meaning all the shorts in each half hour show were produced at the same time)
I went back and these are the episodes that were cel animated. Less than I remembered but still a good amount.

Captain Planet: cel its entire run, restored by WB
SWAT Kats: cel but edited on tape. Would be tricker to restore but possible
Pirates of Dark Water: cel
Fish Police: I've seen cels online
Centurions: all cel. I don't think Ruby-Spears even had a digital ink and paint unit their entire run as a studio
Galtar: cel?
Dink: see Centurions
Jumanji: I've seen cels, might have gone digital later seasons
Aeon Flux: cel its entire run
Dungeons and Dragons: digipaint for TV animated series wasn't invented yet (first digital cartoons were in 85)

Hey thanks, didnt except an answer let alone so soon. Some notes...

Captain Planet, I have the bluray and it is fantastic, but some scenes are clearly from the old (tape?) masters for some reason. Also the opening and ending isnt restored sadly. Which is odd, because I know cels for the intro were made. At least for the title card. Similarly some planeteer alerts are HD, while most arent. Overall its a 8/10 upgrade, sadly let down by the minor sd fillers. The new seasons animation is a mixed bag though.

Swat Kats... is on DVD and looks good. But I feel like the show deserves a Bluray. Not many episodes so not that expensive, but I guess theyd have to get back to the cels if they exist? But the show rights are not with WB anymore. Maybe just for distribution so idk. But the animation done in Japan for many episodes really is neat.

Pirates... has a DVD release... Blu upgrade would make sense. The show looked stunning. Which was also why it got cancelled lol.

Fish Police... Yeah, cels indicate Blu possible, with just 6 episodes it should be a quick scan. But alas nobody remembers the show.

Centurions... already on DVD and that looks really clean. Bluray would be cool. I think they could do it. Really hype futuristic gem.

Galtar... is on DVD too... looks decent. I presume too it was cel. Id put it in the same bag as Herculoids and Thundarr who are both on bluray. Maybe one day...

Dink... yeah.

Jumanji... Not sure myself. It is a newer show. It looks nice, but can't really tell.

Aeon F... Id hope for bluray then. The animation was stellar. But given Paramount situation... sadly not to be expected.

D&D... ah okay, didnt know.

---------- A few more come to my mind...:

Phantom 2040... probably like Aeon Flux?
Sky Commanders... like Centurions?
Wild C.A.T.S.... definitely cel since I have one, just 13 episodes... should do a Bluray
Spiderman Unlimited?
Spawn?
Thundercats... Id expect to get a Bluray release as it was cel, right? But probably mastered on tape? Similarly to Silverhawks and Tigersharks...
MikeLuOg... cel painted... but probably not worthy of at least a dvd release
Addams Family 92... is similar case, but there i dont understand given the popularity
The Mask... maybe cel?
Conan Adventurer?

And yeah I know I list too many, sorry :D

Capitol Critters deserve a home video release too!

Never saw this thread before. I'm confused as to why some shows did it for just one or two episodes? If you have the equipment, why not all the time?

I also didn't know it went as far back as 1982. Did you need 15 refrigerator-sized supercomputers to do it then?

despite that One Piece is already digital coloring in the start, the first movie One Piece: The Movie (2000) uses cels (making the only Toei Animation One Piece to use this; not count with the OVA from Production I.G. in 1998), though that would not count because it was a movie

The following cartoons were never cel-animated:

Little Bear, 1995
Little Bear was Digitally Painted in Season 5 using Wang's Digital Ink and Paint system given to them by H-B (in the 80s as H-B used Wang) while the other 4 seasons (in which the animation was done at Hanho) Nelvana Did it themselves as it was nelvana's First Animted Series to be Digitally Painted in-house (Episode 40/The Season 4 Premiere of Rupert (Rupert and the Giant) was the first with Nelvana's New Amino License in 1995 (Little Bear was added in the Spring of 1995)

Tales from the Cryptkeeper (1993) was one of the early Nelvana shows to use digital ink and paint right from the start.

As someone who's Portuguese, it just bugs me again that we lost. I wanted Portugal to win this time because this is Ronaldo's last, but no, we think Ronaldo has devolved significantly, and we lost against Spain.
