Anybody else get the text "Tim Burton's Corpse" on their tickets? XD
"Alright guys! We're gonna see Tim Burton's Corpse! Hell, that's worth $10.50 for sure!"

[/font]
Think that's bad? My ticket just says Corpse. :shrug:

When you think about it, the title "Tim Burton's Corpse Bride" really is sort of...welllll....

Necrophillia-packed?
Yeah...which reminds me. That dress she wore (sp?) with all that cleavage was...disturbing. To say the very least.

When my sis and I saw it, the theater had it listed as 'Tim Burton's Corpse'. XD

Aniwho, I LOVED it. It's one movie my sis and I will gleefully see again after Wallace and Gromit. The music, the characters, the story... all of it was just beautiful. *__* If this is what Nightmare Before Christmas is like (I only catch the first half hour of that movie each time I watch it, sadly), then I can see why people love that movie.

And I'm convinced that -despite the fact she's a corpse- Emily is the most beautiful character I have ever laid my eyes on. ^^;;;;

If this doesn't win Best Animated Picture at the Oscars next year, I'm going to be incredibly upset.

But she was cute!

It wasn't bad and it wasn't an epic, but, you know, that's okay. It was a very enjoyable film that works on it's own level. There were some very creative character designs and lots of visual elements to take advantage of with the dead. The story flowed well and the musicals were enjoyable instead of grating.

Overall, it is an animated film that proves plot, style and even stop-motion is certainly not dead.

I didn't like it was Tim Burton's other claymation film, but Corspe Bride was still entertaining, both in stories and visuals. Much as certainly improved since Nightmare Before Christmas...of course, since that film is over 10 years old. A very sweet film in general with a sweet ending.

I think it's more stop-motion than solely claymation.

Anyway, I just saw this today-- I liked it a lot. I really liked the lighting effects they used in this, in focus-- the skeleton song.

And I smiled when I saw the 'Harryhausen' Piano.

Clay is messy and unreliable...it's never used for serious stop-motion. Wasn't used in this film or Nightmare. Faces and hands and things weren't animated by moving them, they're solid plastic models animated by completely replacing them every frame.

Actually Scythe, they're complex metal marionettes with silicone skin whose joints are moved fractions of inches for each frame. But, on to my opinion of the film. :sweat: The performances sparkled, the songs were sweet, the animation was incredibly lush and lifelike... the plot, however, was as spectral as the bride herself. Nightmare had nearly the same runtime as Corpse Bride, and yet, in Nightmare, I really got a feel for the characters and their world. I can't say the same for Bride. I felt like a toddler in a toy store, wanting to stop and look at everything, but being pulled away towards JCPenney just as I spotted something interesting. I wanted more. The same goes for the ending; too blunt, too abrupt, and a little too out of the blue.
I mean, Emily turns into butterflies, and then just flies away. Has her soul completely dissipated? Has she just gone home to the Land of the Dead? What about Victor & Victoria? I wanted to see their wedding!
This doesn't mean that I don't like the movie, if anything, it makes me want to buy the DVD as soon as it comes out just to see if there are any deleted or extended scenes. It's a good movie, but it needs to be meatier!

Yeah, that was one complaint I had: the movie ended *way* too abruptly.

I mean, she turns into butterflies and then the credits rolled. I sat there, wondering if the fade out from that scene would lead to Victoria and Victor's wedding, but... it led to credits. Hmmm... was Burton hard pressed for time 'cause he needed to get 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' done?

But perhaps it was better to end it there. Hm, I'll just have to listen to audio commentary on the DVD to hopefully get an answer.

Not that it's a huge complaint of mine, just a small nuisance. ^^;

Also, is there anything after the credits? My sis and I would have stayed, but we ourselves were hardpressed for time. D=

Nope. And I do agree the movie ended rather abruptly. Also, the character designs in this movie are nowhere near as appealing as Nightmare before christmas :shrug:

Ah.

I did notice that Burton and co. changed the ending a bit from the original. In the original -as stated above- the living bride (which would be Victoria) made a promise to live the Corpse Bride's dreams and they buried her. Here, Victoria did absolutley nothing and Emily turned to butterflies.

Given the opening of the movie, I can see where the butterfly ties in to that, but still. =/

Oh, I also agree with AkirQueen about the title appearing in the opening.

Lastly, I'm not one for musicals. Maybe that's just me being soured by really bad ones in animated movies recently, but this one actually pleasantly surprised me. It took me a moment to realize that Bonejangles was Danny Elfman too. XD;;;

In this particular film, they rigged the puppets to they didn't have to replace their head after every shot. Instead, (from what I've read) they inserted a small key into a hole in their ears, which allowed them to adjust mouth movements each shot. In the end, as we can all plainly see, the result was far more realistic.

That being said...I absolutely loved this film. It was beautiful visually, and managed to get a simple plot with a complex love triangle to be told without mucking up the ending.

Like others have said, my only complain would be the abruptness of the ending. A simple fade to black while Victor and Victoria said their vows in the church would've been enough to satisfy my need for closure...but alas. The film worked so hard to get us to feel a connection between the two living lovers, and then we don't even get to see them wed.

Didn't ruin the movie for me though...like someone else mentioned, just a minor annoyance (and probably the only one in the film I can pick out).

Something about the opening credits REALLLY bugged me. I wish they had put them against a black card or not had any at all. It didn't look right overlaying that beautiful animation, and they just looked soooooo "typed this in on computer editing software. brr...

I saw the movie on Saturday (9/24) & I loved it. My favorite part was the ending; TRULY AMAZING! After the movie, I bought the soundtrack and now I have the opening song stuck in my head.:p

Anyway, it was a good movie and I can't wait for the DVD to come out.

:(

DAMMIT. Me and my girlfriend want to see this so badly, but every movie theatre within 100 miles is closed right now. (I live in Southeastern Louisiana).

average simply average. None of the songs were worth anything, even some sung by characters with horrible voices not suited for a musical number. The man villain could be spotted a mile away with the cliche way they designed him, though i thought he looked cool, but still. Another eye candy animated film that relies on the animation and stars to push the film and not a well crafted story. The maggot just added insult to injury, and whats with all the dead jokes, and horrible puns? The whole piece just felt uninspired. Why can't anyone do a decent animated musical anymore?

Last night started watching a new adult animated series, a Netflix original that is basically the succesor to Big Mouth.

What is so great? Despite being a 18+ show, they actually bothered to give it a Romanian dub :ack::eek:
