I just saw this today it was funny and good
I'm surprised there isn't a thread for this

Without too much detail or spoilers from me, I'll say this here and now.:

Definitely not a bad movie in the slightest, even though I didn't think a sequel to this movie was really all that necessary, IMHO.

It has its stupid moments and hiccups, but it wasn't enough to make me distance myself from it. In fact, this is the kind of movie (As long as they don't overdo the comedy or comedy beets, which the minions of GRU sadly and clearly are, even of just IMHO!) that Illuminations should try to make more of - by that, I mean tighten the humor and characterizations up a bit more in future efforts and don't make anymore screw-ups like that Lorax movie...

Incase you don't the character on Margo's shirt, It was identified as Wangan-Kun from the Bayside Shakedown 2. This had me asking, Is Illumination's untitled project for 2015 is an Americanized animated remake to Bayside Shakedown? Other than that, the movie was good.

I saw the movie with my sister and Mom. The first movie had issues on the comedy, villain, and predictable plot. This film has its comedy tightened with almost every gag hitting, and hitting hard, the villain was more engaging and entertaining than the annoying Vector, and the new characters introduced were all entertaining. However, the predictability was still there, and the reveal of the villain I could see a mile away. However, the film's strong protagonists, chemistry, and the overall charm of the first film is still present here, and I'm interested in seeing the Minions movie

I saw it on Saturday. I enjoyed it despite the fact I have heard some bad things about it. I am surprised that it is doing as well as it is. Of course I knew it was going to be a hit, I wasn't expecting it to out gross the first one in just three weeks!

I never saw the first film but I got to see the sequel over the weekend. Luckily it doesn't require extensive knowledge of the first film to understand.

Overall, I enjoyed it. It's not a revolutionary film, or one out to change how we think about cinema, it was just a lightweight, silly movie. Sometimes that hits the spot. Though I must say, I pretty much knew where the movie would go once we learn that Agnes desires a mother figure in her life.
Yep, Gru's gonna hook up with Lucy Wilde.

Favorite stuff: Anything with the chicken; Lucy Wilde in general, who was hyper without being annoying; and of course, the gibberish-spouting Minions. I also enjoyed the scene where Gru mimes to Agnes what to say to a woman who's at the door that he doesn't want to see. "He's... pooping??"

Trivia: Apparently Al Pacino voiced the villain, but left the film over creative differences (and I'm talking AFTER he had already recorded his lines). I can't say I've heard of that happening before. Benjamin Bratt did a good job anyway, but hopefully we hear Pacino's take on the character at some point in the future.

There is a Despicable Me 2 Talkback already on Toon Zone / Anime Superhero but because the search function is broken I cannot access it. This thread will be a placeholder for my review if the mods feel like merging them. They might not want or need to. It's been a few years.

Despicable Me 2

It was slightly better than the first, but considering the hype, it should have been great, and it wasn't.

I was almost going to give it a respectable four stars, but I can't anymore. Because of the damn Dance Party ending. It's like the film was deliberately trying to piss me off. It's eerily uncanny for that reason.

I'm starting to like Dr. Nefario.

The part with Purple Kevin destroying all of the punishing things being unleashed upon him in the demonstration was a great run of terrific visual sight gags. I wish the movies did more stuff like that.

Kristen Schaal playing the hottest of messes. She's cool as bad-ass preteens, but the truth is her being potentially frightening significant others is her freaking wheelhouse.

Do all the movies end with a dance party? If so, I'm not going to wind up liking any of them too much. ***1/2.

Deleted Scene: Gruties:

They toned this down in the movie because it's just too damn cruel. **.

Mini-Movies:

Three cartoon shorts of varying quality. Overall: ***.

Puppy:

Super cute. ****.

Panic In The Mailroom:

It was nonsense, but it wasn't even FUNNY nonsense, so I can't even give it credit for that. **.

Training Wheels:

Agnes and her Unicorns continue to be adorable. ***1/2.

To celebrate the fact that I got three weeks off from work for rest, I watched today the latest installment in the separate Minions series of movies. What I loved was the unique logo variation of the Universal logo, which was akin to the plot taking place in the late 1800s

Not everything from DC and Marvel comics needs to be more like the adaptations.
