Digimon Adventure Gets a High School Sequel

Im so glad you liked it Lady Lucario!

I loved it too. I hated the first episode but everything fell into place by the second! AWESOME!

As a heads up, the second movie will be titled "Determination" and is released in theaters, and I'd assume streamed on Crunchyroll, on March 12, 2016, with a Blu-ray release on April 2.

Earlier than some expected, and that's awesome. A four-month turnaround between movies is more than bearable. Of course the waits might get a bit longer later down the line, but yeah, at this rate the whole series will be out within about two years.

I thought that the first episode was fine myself. It might have been a bit too slow for some, but it was good to setup the characters and introduce some of their problems before they threw Digimon into the mix. It was a nice way to gradually reintroduce the characters and see a bit into their lives before the Digimon returned.

Wow, that's a lot earlier than I expected. I thought it was going to be next winter, but I guess I mixed up the anime seasons with the actual seasons. I also thought that we'd get one movie a year, but that was when I thought that this was structured more like a movie rather than an OVA kind of series. Still, that wait is much more manageable. It's still rough to wait that long and a part of me still wishes that this was a weekly TV series, but waiting four months is much better than twelve. I could see the gaps near the end of the series getting longer so that they have more time to work on the episodes, but taking roughly two years to finish it isn't nearly as long as I initially expected either, so that would work out fine too.

Episodes 5-8 (which really are just "movie 2" split up into four parts with opening and ending credits added) will not be available until early March, when the movie itself hits in Japan. Really, I'm not sure why they even uploaded it in this particular format... Why not just upload it as one 90 minute movie on CR as well? To make it more easily accessible because you have some convenient break points? The stopping points felt pretty arbitrary anyway, especially between parts 3 and 4... Where part 4 just repeated the end of part 3 because part 3 basically ended mid-scene.

I'm not sure if this would work significantly better if all four episodes were merged into a movie format. It seems like they were designed as episodes first instead of as a single movie if that makes any sense. It reminds me more of an OVA format, so the episodes kind of work for me. It might make it easier for Crunchyroll to stream the whole movie too.

The also broke it up because some streaming sites make more money off of ad revenue off of individual episodes than a whole movie.

It barely makes sense as a "series" anyway. The episodes just sorta begin and end abruptly without really building up to anything in particular.

Yeah I didn't care for this. 90 minutes of Taichi whining over broken cellphones, Matt slapping him in the face repeatedly, new girl we don't care about, and fights that come off as nonevents because the digievolutions took up all the runtime/budget. A waste.

Ah, that would make sense too. Except for the ending for the third episode, most of the stopping points worked pretty well for me. It didn't feel like they suddenly stopped or that the ending points for the episodes didn't make any sense. I don't know it would flow as a whole movie, but as four separated episode, it worked out pretty well for me.

I just want to ask you about Nursery School: 3 to 6 in Japan is that right or not?

Also I found this list from this website is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Japan

Elementary School: 6 to 12
Middle School: 12 to 15
High School: 15 to 18
What does this have to do with Digimon, why do you want to bring up their ages.

I wanna get into this because the artwork and the movie in general looks/sounds really cool...I presume you've gotta watch the original Adventure seasons first though? Crunchyroll reviews were giving me mixed signals ("You don't have to watch the original Digimon, oh wait yes you do, no you don't...")

I don't think this movie would really work unless you've seen Adventure (and 02, though that one isn't as important, at least not yet). The movie just clearly expects the audience to know these characters and plays heavily on that for its plot.

I had no idea this series came out already. For whatever reason, I thought the premiere was set for December. Very much looking forward to binge watching the first movie when I get home from work in a few hours.

I think that you definitely need to see at least Adventure to follow Adventure Tri. Adventure 02 would also probably be helpful, but it hasn't been major to the plot yet, so you can probably follow these first four episodes with if you just watch Adventure. That probably won't be the case for the other movies given that the lack of Adventure 02 characters is going to be an important plot point down the line most likely. This really isn't made with new fans in minds. It's clearly meant for fans who are familiar with the first two series. It doesn't stop to explain things for new fans, but rather expects people to be familiar with the characters, their dynamics and their history. I really like Adventure Tri, but it isn't a gateway for people who are new to the franchise or who haven't seen the other Adventure series before.

Adventure Tri is one of the few sequel anime that I would say you need to watch the predecessor not for plot reasons, but for emotional reasons. Literally over half the film only works if you are invested in the characters, and care about them. Almost every review I've read from someone who hadn't watched the older seasons seemed to think it was boring, so...

Just watched the first two episodes. I don't think I have wanted an anime series to be dubbed more than this one. Watching it with subs is fine, but my childhood memories associated with Digimon coincide with the English voice actors.

I'm sure that Adventure Tri will eventually be dubbed. Hopefully they can get as many as the original voice actors to reprise their roles as possible. It just might take awhile for the dub to happen, especially when Saban isn't involved with the release of Adventure Tri on Crunchyroll.

When Digimon Adventure Tri dubbed English coming?

When Digimon Adventure Tri dubbed English coming?

We don't know. It has not been announced for an English release yet, so we don't know when the dub is coming out. There's no point in asking about the dub's release constantly ask people about this since no one at this time would know when it comes out. It most likely will be dubbed, if only for the nostalgia appeal it has, but we don't know when.

If they dub it, they'll probably do what Viz did with Crystal and wait for the whole show to be released first. Easier to dub that way.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
