Nice to see a poster with the Digimon in it.

Yeah, this is a really nice poster and I like it more than the first one as well. Seeing the humans with their Digimon partners is really nice and adds more flare than the first poster had. The train cart being covered in vines is also a really nice touch. It's nice to hear that the original voice actors for the Digimon will reprise their roles. Hopefully that will also include the Chosen Children's voice actors as well. It would be nice to get some release date for this series, especially when I think that the spring season for anime titles is about to start, but hopefully we'll get something about that soon.

Ugly poster. It's pretty jarring how the Digimon look exactly the same but the teens look nothing like their former selves, except for Tai.

There's this thing humans have called aging, that results in slight but significant bodily changes over a period of time. Digimon seem to lack a mechanism that cause such gradual change, thus looking the same over time while their human partners change.

Dang! It's nice to see Digimon sell as well (and better) than many fan-service and moe shows. I like it when more traditional stuff sells.

Aging, more like cosmetic surgery. They all look their trying to get a spot in some teen fashion shoot. At least in Adventures 1 and 2 they had distinct styles. Might as well made some alterations to the original Digmion designs while they were at it.

Digimon Adventure was produced all the way back in 1999. It's not realistic to expect static character design 15 years after the fact. Between the characters being older and this show effectively being a reboot as much or maybe even more than a sequel, adopting a new and fresh style is appropriate.

If anything, in fact, it's a sign they care about what they're doing. Recycling old designs for the characters is the path of least resistance.

Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi's designs for the first two series weren't exactly varied, either. It wasn't until the films that they even looked half-way interesting thanks to Hosoda and Takaaki's hand.

Different hair styles, heights, clothing and etc. These new designs make the characters seem like they can fit into just about any run of the mill high school anime. Designs as interchangeable as the the partner digimons personalities.

My only problem with the new designs are that, admittedly, a lot of the faces look the same, but I'm sure once we see it in movement, it won't feel that way.

The first season is actually my least favorite of the whole franchise. The designs were one of the few things I actually liked. I'm hoping this series is the best yet or at least the same quality of Savers and Tamers.

It only appears that way because everyone is wearing the same school uniform. It's a sign - that times have changed, and they're moving onto a larger world.

Shida is working on a 'certain title', which is his way of referring to something that isn't airing yet. Perhaps it is Digimon Adventure tri? It'd be great to have a good fight scene in here somewhere!

Some big news: things have apparently developed and changed to the point that Digimon Adventure Tri will now debut as a six-part film series in Japanese theaters. In essence, that is the business model that we've seen manifest with such works as Space Battleship Yamato 2199, Broken Blade and most recenty Ghost in the Shell Arise. Screenings first, then home video and then perhaps a recut version for television broadcast (and in the GiTS Arise case, a lot more story). The bad news is that this means we will likely be waiting longer for it than we would be otherwise, particularly since part 1 doesn't screen in Japan until November 21. Digital is king for TV anime, but so far OVAs and films don't make it quickly. The good news is, considering the quality of works that have premiered this way in the past, I take this as a sign that there's some serious confidence in this title.

A long 4 minute trailer has premiered online, and it's looking pretty slick. This just might be an anniversary project worthy of the name.

This is the best option. Six theatrically released episodes will be less strain on Toei Animation and also make for a better overall project. It also means that each episode should have some more effort from the chief animation supervisor, meaning any bad key animators will have their work corrected.

Toei uploaded a version of the trailer with English text and subtitles for the tiny vocal bits



It looks pretty cool. I wonder who would pick it up for an eventual English-dubbed release though. Would Toei commission it themselves or would someone like Funimation or another company step in to pick up the license?

Edit: The English trailer is cut a bit. They don't include the specific dates and release information that the Japanese version of the trailer provides. Guess they didn't want to create confusion about the release in foreign markets?

Tomita Yoshikazu did the key animation for those action cuts. Tomita did a lot of work on Digimon Xros Wars, so it makes sense for him to return to Digimon now, especially if he'll be able to do the mecha-esque Omegamon.
