Gamecube Save Files

Recently my Gamecube memory card was corrupted, erasing literally hundreds of hours of gameplay. Nowadays, I have not the time to play through all of these games again, no matter how fun it would be. Browsing Gamefaqs, I have noticed many games have save files for download. They can be downloaded either by a Gameshark, or a USB Memory Adapter. My question is this: has anyone tried either of these methods? Do they work? Which one is better?

I've never done it but do know people who have and they do work.

But if you don't have time to play the games why do you want the save files?

Because you have to unlock everything again from scratch, and most people don't have the time for that, so they would rather do it this way so it's more convienent.

It makes sense for games like Smash Bros Melee or Mario Kart, where you want to just jump in and play without having to bother re-unlocking a bunch of characters.

Consider doing this: If your save files are still in your corrupted card, buy a new card and use the Gamecube/Wii system to copy the files from the old to the new card. This actually worked for me.

It won't save all your files (some games can't be copied, like Pokemon XD), but it's a start. You'll need a new Memory card anyway.
