"Guiding Light" Ends - "Let's Make a Deal" Replacing It

c) Trivial Pursuit: America Plays could leave syndication and move to CBS in the Fall but keep Christopher "Peter Brady" Knight as host.

I'd like to think that we as a society will never reach a point where a judge show is aired nationally one of the big four networks.

CBS needs to fill that time slot with game shows, and Trivial Pursuit: America Plays, hosted by Christopher Knight, could be a possibility. I say NO to having court shows and talk shows on CBS' airwaves- we have too many of them on TV, already.

I'm amazed no one mentioned the ill-fated Guiding Light/Marvel crossover event. There was a special comic and a full episode of the show dedicated to it (some video at http://www.marvel.com/videos/38.Guiding_Light).

Probably Passions. That was one of the last catastrophic events of the series that also had tsunamis, houses being sucked into hell, and daydreams about Bollywood movies. Seriously, Passions was a wonderfully twisted series.

Of course, it could have been the Gemini Twins storyline of Days of our Lives. But that really wasn't an asteroid. Just a satellite.

Thanks for clearing that up, but still, CBS needs game shows, not talk shows and definitely, not court shows, to fill up the time slot being vacated by the departure of Guiding Light in September.

The new Let's Make a Deal with host Wayne Brady, premieres on CBS daytime, next month to replace the now retired Guiding Light. Does anyone since a Who's Line is is, Anyway? redux, here? Well, there is, Drew Carey hosting The Price is Right and now, Wayne Brady hosting Let's Make a Deal. BTW, 86 year-old Monty Hall is serving as consultant on the show. Anyone ready for that?

Although I don't really watch soaps anymore, I did catch the last episode of Guiding Light. I thought the ending was pretty appropriate.

It's sad to see the show go, but they had every chance to fix things, and they just couldn't do it. I expect we'll see more soaps fold within the next five-ten years. The era of the daytime drama is, sadly, beginning to come to a close.

I sure can't wait for the new LMAD with Wayne Brady in October. And rumor has it the next CBS soap to get pink slipped by 2010 could be As the World Turns and could open the door for more game show revivals (Revivals of Press Your Luck, Match Game, Now You See It, Sale of the Century, and/or Split Second possible for an ATWT replacement if not on the back burner $1,000,000 Pyramid?)
