So... I got something drawn in a style that's NOT anime! *gasp* I became an Invader Zim fan, like, two or three weeks ago after watching it for the very first time with a couple friends. Completely fell in love with the art style right off the bat and had to draw fanart. Go figure.

This technically wasn't my first try with Invader Zim fanart, but it was one of the first, and it came out the best, so it's the one that gets to be shown (the others are, of course, at my website).

The crosshatching came about 'cause I didn't want to do any shading or coloring, and just leaving it would've been to plain. So I decided to torture myself and do something I rarely do.

Yay! More crosshatching! Same story: didn't want to color or shade. Because I am who I am, I almost always have to create an original character for my favorite movies/tv shows/books. Don't worry, I never write fanfiction (with the exception of Mode Ryuu) so all you're gonna see is art and not some horrible story about... whatever.

Mya is the Irken (to imagine her character, just think of the Irken equivalent of a walking blonde joke... that's homicidal), and the SIR unit is NIR (he's a ninja... don't ask). NIR's inking got kinda screwed up, but I'll cover myself by saying I meant to do that, and he's a ninja, so he's supposed to blend in with shadows and stuff.

That's all for now. I'm not looking for critiques on the above, as they are both done in ink and I ain't changing anything now. It's just fun to do stuff that's not anime and pencil shaded for once ^_^

i LOVE invader zim!:D that show rocks! awsome work man! Awsome!:D

I think the crosshatching REALLY works and gives the work it's own unique mold outside the standard cell model. I would look at that being something you do more! Looks really cool!

I definately want to do crosshatching in more of my stuff. It takes for-freaking-ever for me to complete it that way, but I'm much happier with the final product :D

Wow! I've only seen Zim a handful of times but you've captured that wonderful spiky style and the edginess to the characters just beautifully. The cross-hatching works wonderfully, these look like they've been lifted straight from a very superior comic book

Fantastic work :)

To celebrate the fact that I got three weeks off from work for rest, I watched today the latest installment in the separate Minions series of movies. What I loved was the unique logo variation of the Universal logo, which was akin to the plot taking place in the late 1800s
