This episode has potential. I'm more looking forward to next week's new episode, but this one could be very interesting in its own right.

Cookie attempts to hinder an adoption, and the gang can't understand why.

I know for a fact this isn't the best show ever made, but I'll admit it has it moments - and this was one of them... Well, it could be if it isn't retconned like Toyoshiko and Olaf In Love were...

Sadly, too bad this new found relationship between Cookie and our adoptee-of-the-week WILL be retconned like almost everything else is on this show (No wonder people don't like it, besides its lack of interesting premise and overall disappointing to downright condescending execution!).

This was still better than this week's Kick Buttowski (well, what I saw of it here, anyway...( And yes, I know this isn't the place to discuss a show from another regime, but I had to be honest with myself, like I always try to be with those reading my comments!)).

I actually haven't been paying much attention to these threads. Why do you say they were retconned?

Well, I didn't think anyone was going to answer me on this (specifically including yourself, since you've said before you're not really interested in this show; though with how things have been going so far with it, I can't blame you). In fact, I agree with you on everything wrong with this show, hence such disinterest in it by almost everyone here on Toonzone. But, since I'm interested in sharing my issues, concerning the retconning, especially:

The plots/endings to those example episodes I've pointed out and what goes on in them, overall, does not come into full continuity of the show after they introduced, and are therefore, ignored - all for no good reason, which ends up ruining anything positive to say about the show . I just makes the show's whole existence out to be the "adoption-of-the-week" show, rather than tell a decent story (at worst, it feels like a 30-min advert for a toy, rather than a real cartoon effort). The endings to those plots should have been kept as continuity. The fact that they're not around in episodes after them either makes the show's writers look bad at worst, or the show make no sense at best (no matter how "smart" or "intriguing" it's trying to look.

By seemingly ignoring actually productive continuity including Strudel's robot friend and Olaf's new-found relationship, this show has proven just how disappointing and condescending to its audience it is to those who are aware that these two great things have been retconned after awhile...

If I'm overreacting or not depends on if I'm missing anything, or how I've worded all of this...

This does not have to be retconned since we will probably not even see Cookie's adopted home again. I did not even think the main characters had homes before this episode, I just figured they lived in the pound.

Really until something happens that proves these events have been retconed there is no reason to believe they have been. Really Toyo is the only one that we can truly say is a Retcon as Toyo would have to show up alot. With Olaf's relationship and the end of this episode not seeing anything does not mean it was undone.

At this point, it's like I said - I hope I'm just overreacting to all of these issues, then.

Because otherwise, I can see why this show lacks any sort of decent fanbase at best,as well as is critically panned by everyone else at worst...

Oh I agree it's just i really can't count them as retcons until something shows up to prove it.

Until Olaf acts loney or fall in love again even if that Libarian and the puppy never shows up again there is nothing saying it was retconed. Same with this episode.

Basically I'm seeing the same thing you are but looking at it in a completely different way. Your saying no continuity unless stated otherwise and I'm saying not a retcon until stated otherwise. Not being told anything after an episode ends works both ways. It might not be until season two (if there is one) if any of these things stick or not.

And yeah I do agree it's affecting the popularity of the show, that and the 2010 episodes were not very good and I don't think many people gave the show a second chance when it returned. It has improved even if it's still far from being great.

As I said last thread, seeing how no two episodes since the studio change have been written by the same writer, my theory is that the episodes were written simultaneously to make up for lost time. There's no "retconning" going on, just writers that weren't able to fully integrate each others work. Note also that it has been able to keep some continuity to the pre-switch episodes.

And that was just adorable. I hope we get to see more of the potential recurring characters they introduced once season 2 roles around.
