Shrek: "Forever After" or "The Final Chapter"?

The on-screen fifteen-to-thirty-second trailers on TV mention this years Shrek film's title as Shrek: The Final Chapter, but some commercials from brands like Yoplait Go-Gurt and General Mills cereals still mention the film's title as Shrek Forever After.

The film is coming to theaters next Friday, but until then, what will the final film title be, Forever After or The Final Chapter?

Shrek: The Final Chapter is the promotional title. When the movie is seen in theaters, I believe it be called Shrek: Forever After. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As for my view, I want it to be Forever After as I like the implied number and it is much more interesting. I'm cool with them defining it as such, but I find "The Final Chapter" boring.

I was going to bring up that, myself. Why would they refer to the movie under two separate names? All it does is confuse people.

Still, just because it's occasionally called "The Final Chapter" doesn't necessarily mean anything, considering the apparent "Shrek 5" and "6" are supposed to be prequels. Way to come up with loopholes there, Dreamworks.

I don't know if the toys are out yet, but one name might be to try and throw off counterfeiters. They did that for Return of the Jedi in 1983 by having the title be Revenge of the Jedi.

Forever After because The Final Chapter would be false.

That's why I've been so confused with the title for this movie. I've only seen the title Forever After at the end of Go-Gurt commercials, but everywhere else its called the Final Chapter. There's even a billboard not too far from my house with that title. I also prefer Forever After since it has a nicer ring to it and considering that there's another movie or two afterwords, it would be weird to give the impression that it's the final movie.

From what I've seen, "The Final Chapter" is referring solely to the 3D version.

The non-3D version is "Forever After".

The "Shrek 5" annoucement was two years ago; the whole "Final Chapter" promotion seems to indicate that plans for that were scrapped and that this will, thankfully, be the last movie.

Empire of Dreams said Revenge of the Jedi was an actual working title, not just to throw off fake toy makers.

Saw an advance screening of the 3D version yesterday in Orlando (thanks gofobo.com!). Title card at the start of the movie said "Shrek Forever After".

Shrek the Final Chapter was just the promotional title, just like how the commercials for "How to Train Your Dragon" called it "Dragons".

But the "Dragons" movie was still called "How To Train Your Dragon" even as it is still playing in movie theatres with a DVD and Blu-Ray release of the movie by late Summer or Fall 2010.
