"Swat Kats - The Complete Series" coming to DVD on December 14th

Looks like it might be worth buying. It'd be nice to have the episodes without network logos on them.

Although the "Complete Series" monkier leaves me a bit downtrodden with the project I'm working on.

"ships to US destinations only."

NOOOOO!

WB has no love for us canadians...

I really hate this MOD program...

Hopefully Warner has fixed their MOD program, because the last 7-8 films I've ordered are defective out of the 10 I own. I'm not the only one either, they've even shipped out blanks before. Or they become defective after two weeks. That said, as much as I'd love to own Swat Kats, I cannot justify support Warner's awful program. It's also a headache because they'll stand by that product and refuse to give you a refund. Instead, just ship another defective disc to you and that would be that.

As for bonuses, I'm pessimistic about it. The one thing that is intriguing is that the website list this as "Standard Edition". Which makes me wonder, if they get enough sales will it garner a "Special Edition"? Who knows.
I figure they mean "Standard Edition" as in "4:3 full-frame." All WHV releases categorize 4:3 as "standard version."

Thanks to Boomerang running this show ad nausea for years, I've personally seen enough of Swat Kats to last me a couple of lifetimes, so I don't need to purchase a DVD of this, but I know a number of fans who are going to be very happy to hear this news.

If there's decent extras I might consider getting it but I like to pay a bit less for 26 episode sets when possible. I might the bullet on this one because I doubt Swat Kats will get any other kind of release at this point.

it's about damm time.

Shame it will probably be bare bones with just the episodes and no extras, but at least it'll be a complete run of the show.

Only thing worring me is the remark they're using the best possible source material (pharaphrasing here) so does that mean the quality is going to yo-yo from one episode to another?

Now all I need to see is a complete Big Guy and Rusty and someone to finish Code Lyoko.

Basically it means the quality will be the same as you see on Boomerang. They aren't bothering to remaster the masters, because it's not really neccessary. Sure, it would bring better picture quality (more detail, better colours), but that would cost a ton of money. Which in the case of a MOD release is not worth it. Frankly, WB is against themself. Especially with a release like Swat Kats, which deserves to be a regular DVD release, with remastered picture and a ton of extras. Sadly though, I have a feeling that in that case the set would cost maybe $59.99 and not $34.95, thus noone would be buying it. Hard to say why WB has stopped doing regular cartoon series DVD releases lately. I doubt they don't have money. They're just scared of the classics.

They couldv'e went with two volumes of either two discs or 13 eps on flipper discs.
Honestly, I put exactly as much stock in WHV flipper discs as I do in DVD-Rs. My West Wing seasons 1-3 box sets deteriorated in just a couple of years. I fear for the future of my Powerpuff Girls series set, but I still bought it because I had no other choice. Same here with SWAT Kats.

This is good news. I'd love for them to get a regular DVD release, but any DVD release is good at this point.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll pony up for a real release in a few years after a good response. Yeah, just let me dream a bit, kay?

Even though I really don't care for them aesthetically, I have never had any technical problems with flippers. Sometimes we can get dvd's from a bad batch, which is often the case with these things. I know I had a prob with a Samurai Jack disc and returned it to the store twice before I shipped it out to WHV and got a better copy.

The way WB has downsized on stuff, they must've really lost some big time money in the past couple years. I mean they're cutting corners like a small-time co., yet WHV is much larger. Disney is just CHEAP since they get revenue from merchandising and theme parks. I really wish I could see just what kind of money they spend on the dvd's and just how much the sales look like.

I kinda wish it comes out in stores, if so.... i might want to see the show, and might wanna buy it.....

I'm thrilled to see one of my fave shows of all-time show up on DVD, but DVD-R? I've never bought into these "archive DVD releases" and I'm skeptical about the whole concept. I suppose it's better than nothing, and it is a rather unreasonable expectation for such a cult, niche, non-mainstream show to get a big deal release, and I am immensely thrilled that it's coming out at all. This show has big-time nostalgia value for me.

I'm not going to be buying this particular title, but I've already placed an order for The Phantom Tollbooth, which is also a part of the Warner Bros. archive and will also be put on DVD-R. I have concerns about this DVD-R thing myself, but I'm still hoping for the best, as it's the only movie I have left on VHS, and I've been pretty much longing for it to go to DVD. I called wbshop.com to ask about the whole DVD-R thing, and the representative I got had told me that they haven't heard anything about their DVD-R titles not ever working. I know I'm taking a big chance here, so if my copy of The Phantom Tollbooth turns out to be junk and they may never bother to put it out on conventional DVD, then I'll just have to cherish my VHS copy while I still can. I'm just glad that it's the only thing I want on DVD.

Now, I know this has nothing to do with Warner Bros., but M.A.S.K. is the only other cartoon for which I'd like to have DVDs. If it never happens, it's fine, but if it does, then hopefully whoever puts it out chooses to do it on conventional DVDs.

Someone over at Swatkats.us said that oldies.com is shipping it internationally.

Here's the link: http://www.oldies.com/product-view/9399FD.html

WOOHOO! Shipping and customs are going to cost me a fortune (4.99$ + 0.99$ for every DVD in the set?!) but I might treat myself. Thanks for the link!

And they even have Flight of Dragons that I've been wanting forever! Looks like this site is getting some of my christmas money.

I bought the set and got it right after Christmas, so far it's been really good the colors of the animation look awesome and it sounds excellent the whole set is much better than what I though when I first heard about "MOD" DVDs. IF the rest of the set is as good as it has been so far I might end up getting more of WB's MOD DVDs.
