Thursday at 7:00p/6:00c!

Onion Gang

Premieres
TONIGHT at 7:00 PM

This week...
Steven finds out about Onion's secret friends.

Steven should take listens from the Bastion narrator in order to be a better narrator

"Onion Gang"

Is Steven is translating what Onion's thinking?

I'm hungry for power too.

The next day…

Where are we going Onion?

I had no idea Onion could whistle?!

I had no idea Onion's friends are named after vegetables. Except Soup.

Garbanzo only says his name like a pokémon. Except the other ones don't speak.

A made up cart.

Is Garbazo dead?!

Oh it was joke.

Steven using his floating powers.

I thought we never see Suitcase Sam.

Private Pictures.

Is that a Garnet picture?!

Bug race!!!

Don't do it Steven don't kill that beatle.

Aww poor Steven. He has no friends his own age, heck he has no male friends at all unless you count his dad, Peedee, Ronaldo, Sour Cream & Buck. He is the middle child of Beach City.

How did Onion do that?

He's alive.

They're Leaving.

I'm sure we gonna miss those guys.

Aww That's cute.

I give this episode a 9/10. I hope the hiatus is not that long as much as I wanna see more interesting Gem-related stuff and Bismuth/Jasper's returns along with Jasper's redemption.

Hi, Tom Kenny.
Bye, Tom Kenny.

I got a laugh from the picture of Garnet. I bet Onion's gang didn't that type of reaction from them.

Thought this episode was kinda lame, okay Onion is weird now we have 4 of him now

Wow I can't believe it, did I just Onion be likeable and kind, and not too creepy, what am I watching?

So we complete the Onion trilogy, of the three of them, I rank this just below "Onion Friend", but above "Onion Trade", and what is up with Yellowtail, is that what you do on your spear time, to much information. Though I guess we see how he got a babe like Vidalila, good for you Yellowtail.

I was scared we had a whole Onion army, that is scary, but they turned out to be okay, that one kid only says his name like pokemon and everyone else doesn't talk. I wonder how old those kids are?

We finally tackle the elephant in the room, Steven has no friends his own age, heck he has no close male friends at all unless you count his dad, and all the other kids are either older than him or younger than him. He is the middle child of the town.

So Steven was taking pity on Onion, when he reality perhaps Onion was taking pity on him, heck reminds me of a recent episode of My Little Pony involving Discord.

Suitcase Sam doesn't talk, but we get to his voice, and the trench coat, if only Peridot was here, than she could finally ride all the rides at Fun Land.

If we go on hiatus, I guess we end on a positive note, though I hope it is not long. I wish they would go on hiatus on an even number and not an odd number because of the way it is put up on I Tunes and Amazon, but that is another story, Onion felt like a good person, and if that can happen, than everyone is redeemable, Jasper, Bismuth, Yellow Diamond, they all can become good, if Onion can be likable. Nothing was more impossible than that.

Ever since Onion and Steven became friends, his character has improved quite a bit - he's a still a trouble-maker, but you can at least feel for him. Best of all, it's surprisingly quite relatable, even if not completely - after all, even Steven knows his history of being troublesome, which explains why he doesn't hang out with him that much.

Saying all that, THIS right here might be the best episode between Steven & Onion, overall, and I won't hear any arguments against that.

Seriously. *walks off and closes the door*

Well there is Peedee, Ronaldo, Buck, and Sour Cream

My bad I fixed it, I meant Steven has no "close" male friends outside of his dad. The only close friend Steven outside of his family or the gems is Connie.

Well, that was a cute episode focusing on Onion, but I'm glad we might get a plot based episode next week....
*checks description for next week's episode "Gem Harvest"*
*said episode isn't going to air anymore*
*we're back on hiatus*

Well, poop.

So the show's back on break after this? Well, I guess after thirty-eight premiere episodes, Steven's had quite a year already.

Walking with Onion.

Onion has a posse.

WHO'S THAT POKEMON! ...It's GARBANZO!

Onion, Garbanzo. Pinto, Squash and...Soup?

It's like Fat Albert's Cosby Kids or Peter Pan's Lost Boys.

Stack on top of each other and sneak into R-rated movies?

Who's Suitcase Sam?
...whoever he is, he just got flashed!

Awww, I had 20 on the grasshopper.

To the...victor...go the spoils?

And it turns out you were the loneliest all along.

No bugs were harmed in the taping of this episode.

First time I've ever seen an Onion cry.

Now it feels like summer's really over.

The entire second half revolved around the Summer ending, with a bittersweet vibe of loneliness.
This episode airs on the final official week of Summer, and is the last one before a hiatus.

There's no way this could've been a coincidence.

And all we have are reruns to keep us warm during the long, cold winter.

Onion Gang was pretty sweet, love the Onion episodes,

More of Steven/Onion's great funny friendship moments.

Nice seeing Vidalia/Yellowtail.

The sweet Moon Children reference.

Onion's friends, Garbazo/his baby brother(speaks Pokemon, hehehe), Soup(looks like Frisk from Undertale), and Squash, best likable minor characters:D, both Soup/Squash are silent as well, hehehe, but their vegetable names, cool.

The Garnet picture, sweet, hahahahaha.

Onion says a word, yaaaaaaay, just makes the jibberish sounds like Yellowtail, hehehe.

Poor Steven, he had no friends his own age:(.

They only come in the summer, they'll be back, poor Onion.

Nice that Onion has feelings which he has a heart who loves his friends/family, Onion's character development next to Pearl, Peridot, and Mr. Harold Smiley's was the best:D.

A sweet ending on Steven/Onion's great friendship.

I've enjoyed the Summer of Steven with all of their epic episodes and to Season 4, I hope the hiatus is not that long as much as I wanna see more interesting Gem-related stuff and Bismuth/Jasper's returns along with Jasper's redemption.

Was the girl with the pan on her head named Soup? I originally misheard it as Sue and I thought that was supposed to be the joke.

I am pretty sure Soup was a boy. Now Pinto I think was a girl.

Onion I admit is a hard character to get a beat on. I know a lot of people don't care for him or think of him as just creepy but I never really felt he was that dislikeable. Though I never felt he was that likeable either and he was just suppose to be that sort of creepy/oddball friend you knew that you didn't really want to have anything to do with. Until this episode that shows he is sort of a more lonely kid who like Steven only has a limited amount of friends to go and hang out with (since I assume he also doesn't go to school as well though... what's his excuse for not doing so?) that he can only see at certain parts of the year. Which is a pretty relatable feeling honestly and honestly if this actually did end the Summer of Steven it makes sense to end on an episode about the ending of summer and actually about the morale of you shouldn't feel sorry for people whose lives you don't fully know nor should they for you as you probably have more in common then you think or something like that. And I thought it was an actual sweet ending of Onion and Steven hugging after the others left. And there were some pretty decent jokes in this one: "Onion couldn't quelsh his hunger... for power", the soup girl's annoyance at Steven taking so long to get her name, the group pretending Garbanzo died and Steven falling for it "You think if we pushed into that guy he'd think we were an adult... oh wait are we actually doing that" the group of people the others banged into including Garnet who just thumbed up them, "drawing lines in the dirt... that's not creepy", and Onion breaking through the screen door.

Honestly though this episode did have a major problem which sadly made me realize kind of a more negative of this show as a whole; they could of easily cut down half of Steven's narration here as a lot of it was pretty obvious what was happening even for a kid and didn't need to be said out loud. Though honestly Steven Universe improves on a lot of things from Adventure Time, one thing AT has over it besides not being afraid to branch out of it's world and fully focus on it's supporting cast and need to tie it to the main hero, is that it can have much more moments of quiet and silence. Sometimes you get that from Steven Universe, but a lot of the time you have Steven spelling out or saying what's happening. Even when it's not needed and honestly this is one of those times it was really apparent. Granted likely because he's the only person who really VAed in this episode (besides the Garbanzo kid) and I don't expect this show to be Samurai Jack in terms of visual storytelling but the constant narration did get old. It was funny at first and had it's moments but not everything needed to be spelled out like it was by Steven. Past that it was a decent episode but that is a major hurdle that holds it back for me honestly.

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
