"The Amazing Spider-Man" Pre-Release Discussion, Part 4 (Spoilers)

Anyway i like the trailer, it does seem to look really good the movie, my only nitpick is that again we see Spidey unmask......is it really necessary to unmask him when he's fighting? I do feel it's kinda lame but still hopefully it will be fun to watch.

It's probably a studio thing. Harrison Ford once said something to the effect of "They pay to see your face so that's what they expect."

They seem to confirm that Paulina Olszynski will play Mary Jane in the sequel.......kinda irony that Emma Stone being a red head she's playing a blonde and with the other actress being blonde she's playing a red head......i don't know it's odd how they make those decisions but i do give them credit that Emma Stone looks alot like Gwen Stacy, Can't say much of Olszynski tho i don't pic her much as MJ but i might be wrong.

That happened in Spider Man 3 too as Kirsten Dunst is a blonde playing red and Bryce Dallas Howard is a redhead who was a blond in that movie. Oh and Emma Stone is naturally blond

Honestly i prefer if they go for something similar to the comics and Spectacular where Norman as the Green Goblin tries to be Big Man of Crime, i never like Ultimate Green Goblin he looks more like a version of the Hulk with horns and shooting fire.

Well, they wrote TF2 during the writer's strike with Erhen Kreuger, who has a rather mixed track record. They also wrote Star Trek Zero and Mission: Impossible III, both of which were pretty good, so I'll give them the benefit of he doubt.

M:I:III is another bad sign for me. I really did not like that movie very much. I've never seen anything Star Trek related. This is a bad sign for me. Plus they wrote the first Transformers movie. Let's be honest, it had all the same problems as the others, just not as insulting.

I read about the execs disliking the film. I wish we knew whether or not they saw it in 3D or not. Not like it matters. I think the film will probably be just as successful as "X-Men: First Class", which I personally think was not as great as some thought, it's just that compared to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", yes it was good.

I really don't expect the film to be a blockbuster, cause I think Dark Knight Rises will clean the floor for the summer, but it will probably do moderately good.

Spidey seems sandwiched between TDKR and The Avengers. It's the wild card of the summer in my opinion. If it was Spider-Man 4, then it would be huge. But it's not, and the jury is out as to whether or not the public will embrace this movie as much as they did the other ones.

Marc Webb said in an interview with G4's Attack of the Show that his three favorite Spider-Man villains are Green Goblin, Mysterio, & Kraven the Hunter. Which made me think of this nice way to do the ASM sequels.


Amazing Spider-Man 2: Mysterio is the main baddie. But since apparently, the ASM movies are supposed to be dark & edgy, they would need to make Mysterio's illusions look like complete mind-benders. Like how Scarecrow was in Batman: Arkham Asylum, that's what Mysterio needs to be in this movie.


Amazing Spider-Man 3: Green Goblin's second go-round. Have it so that Norman Osbourne has been lurking in the shadows for the past two movies, then have him officially become the Gobllin in this one. And the big plotline of the movie is....Death of Gwen Stacy.


I think this could work for the next 2 movies. Though, not sure what I'd do with Kraven though.

For some reason, I don't see MJ popping up until ASM3. I could definitely see Captain Stacy dying in ASM2 though.



But holy crap, I'd love to see Mysterio in one of these movies.

I'd rather they left out MJ and introduced Felicia Hardy. I always wanted her in the original trilogy...so hopefully she makes it into one of these movies.

Well, they were going to introduce Felicia in Spider Man 4, but not as Black Cat but Vulteress.
Hopefully they will do her right if she ever appears.

I also wonder if they will tackle the Symbiote/Venom in this trilogy. Maybe they won't after the disappointment that was Spider Man 3...

After how terrible Spider-Man 3 was received I don't think Spider-Man 4 would be the huge smash everyone thinks (or actually good). It would do well but maybe not as big as the early ones. Though I find it funny haters are looking at that article about the rumored Sony exec comments as an opportunity to say "See! The Amazing Spider-Man is going to be terrible," obviously overlooking how bad SM3 was. I'm actually glad for the reboot. I'm looking forward to this new take on Spider-Man and I'm glad execs are apparently worried about ASM considering how positive they were about SM3 (and we all knew how that turned out).
