Then again, they also made it clear that the DS would co-exist with the Game Boy line.
I don't recall that statement, but that's a fair point. I'd just rather be hopeful that they'll do something else for their handheld system line.

Would you be interested in a Switch mini like some people have suggested as a successor to the 3DS? I love my 3DS so I definitely want to see it continue to be supported for a few more years.I'm not denying that the 3DS is an aging system or anything like that. I'm just saying that it seems less and less likely for the Switch to replace their handheld system completely, which I'm happy about for multiple reasons. And it's true that they wouldn't want people to jump ship from the 3DS when all of their biggest titles for this holiday season are on that system, but even with that in mind, I think it's telling that they made it clear that the Switch isn't replacing the 3DS. I can see the 3DS getting support for at least another couple of years, especially when I'm positive that the seventh generation will stay on this system.

I don't see the Switch as a handheld. It's a portable home console, which is kind of merging both handhelds and home consoles. As Nintendo said however, the Switch is a home console, first and foremost. Despite what some people are saying, Nintendo is stating this as a home console. That doesn't mean it doesn't have similar functionality has a handheld. But it's mainly a home console you can take on the go.
If Nintendo made a smaller version of the Switch tablet that is more portable than the home console version, backwards-compatible with 3DS games, and can still play Switch games, I'd be all for it. It doesn't take away from the Switch, but at the same time, it continues Nintendo's handheld line.
Not exactly since they have announced and unannounced games coming to the 3DS next year, plus multiple Japanese titles that could be localized. At the very least, 2017 will definitely have a decent amount of titles.Nintendo is obviously only saying that the 3DS will still be around because they want to keep selling pokemon sun and moon for as long as possible.
anyone else remember when they said the DS will not supplant the GBA?
As soon as those two games run their course the 3DS will be dropped.

I've played my older systems even after getting more recent ones, and I'm sure the Wii U won't be an exception. If any of you guys have a 3DS or Wii U, will you keep playing them after the Switch comes out?
Nintendo confirms this was another rumor. Until Nintendo says so themselves, I'll continue to wait and see. I have a few Wii U games I missed this year anyway like Pokken Tournament and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE that I'd like to get. The first half of the year had a solid amount of Wii U games even though a lot of people seem to forget because of the sparse second half. For the record, the Wii U will cease production this week.

With the Switch’s unique capacities and design, Nintendo could again redefine the way we play games! The Switch is accessible at its core and will give people the freedom and the pleasure to share more experiences and play anywhere at anytime. The Ubisoft teams developing games for the Switch are inspired by these new possibilities, and I’m really happy that we’re able to continue doing great things with Nintendo. In addition to Just Dance 2017, I think there’s at least one game that will definitely surprise you!
Being told March 17th is currently planned Switch launch day in PAL, will release worldwide that same week but not same date all regions.
This is from the same source who told me about the reveal trailer date before it was official, I have reason to trust their info.
Being told Japanese launch may be a few days earlier but plan is to launch in all major territories that same week.
Do you have a Wii U? That's got a touchscreen controller. As disappointed as I am realizing this, It'll make since for the Nintendo Switch to not be a touchscreen. That works great for handheld, but how would that work when it's hooked up to the TV?

So it'll be a touchscreen in portable version only? Will you have to buy a touchscreen controller for certain games? They should've shown that in the trailer.Do you have a Wii U? That's got a touchscreen controller.
