This set sounds awesome. I'll have to pick it up, but will probably wait until the price becomes more reasonable.

Does anyone know when we can expect the two 80s Spidey series on DVD?

Nice review, Amazing Spidey! I am looking forward to this disc even if the episode selection is once again less than admirable. Here's another review of the DVD I found:

Is it only some season 3 episodes that haven't been remastered, or are some second season episodes similarly affected?

Ok Mr. T., Here is the rundown:

Discs 1-4 are completely remastered though many episodes vary in quality. Anybody should be more than satisfied with them.

Disc 5 : Episodes that are washed out and blurry:

• "The Winged Thing"
• "Conner's Reptiles"
• "Sky Harbor"
• "The Big Brainwasher"
• "The Vanishing Doctor Vespasian"
• "Scourge of the Scarf"

Disc 6 : Only one episode that is washed out and blurry:

• "Up from Nowhere"

Disc 5 & 6 do have even more episodes that aren't quite as cleaned up as others but the difference isn't near as shocking as the above listed episodes. Keep in mind that those episodes may be better looking than they ever have been but compared to others on the disc they do not look good.

A few observations about the show that I never realized:

1. I had read that animation from previous episodes was re-used in the 3rd season. I never realized to what degree though. Scanning through the 3rd season episode "Rhino" looked like it was about 60% of the animation from the 1st season episode "Horn of the Rhino"! CHEAP!!! Hilarious...but cheap!

2. In the 3rd season, Peter's clothes are almost identical to his clothes in the 81 solo show and Spider-Man & his Amazing Friends. Curious, from what you have told me and what little I've seen, Peter seems to be dating girls other than Betty in the 2nd & 3rd season; so I have to wonder why they went back to having Betty be the romantic interest in the 81 solo show.

As far as the reuse of animation goes, the best example has to be these three episodes: "Swing City", "Up From Nowhere" and "Specialists and Slaves". They actually managed to re-use the same weird plot and animation no less than three times!

And yes, Peter does seem to date a different girl every week from the 2nd season onwards, as Betty (and the rest of the Bugle) are moved into the background. With the 81 solo show, Marvel Productions obviously patterned their episodes after the 67 show's 1st season, since they probably decided on retaining the Daily Bugle and comicbook villains as important parts of a Spider-Man show's dynamic.

I think MP specifically disregarded the 67 show's 2nd and 3rd season episodes because they're pretty "far out" stories that are for far removed from the comics, and they may simply have wanted their first show to be as "traditionally" Spidey as possible.

 

[Spider-Man]

On the preview for 'The Venom Saga' I noticed scenes from both 'The Hobgoblin' episodes and 'Venom Returns' and 'Carnage.' The scenes from the Hobgoblin episode looked to be from the show titles, though, and the Venom and Carnage stuff frpm the two part follow up episodes. So there is still a chance we're getting those two episodes.

X-Men: Evolution Season DVD's

Hi!

Anyone have any idea when seasons 2, 3, and 4 will be coming to DVD?

This piecing together of "themed" X-Men DVD's in the meantime is for the birds. I know it frustrates me to no end. There should be a law that states you can't release an episode from a previously unreleased season of shows before that season of shows has been released.

But that's just my 2¢ worth!

Last I heard Kids' WB had plans to release all of Season 2, but beyond that it probably depends on the sales. And don't get your hopes up for season box sets.

However, I'm looking for the complete season 2, not these "theme" based, one disc releases. I want my purchase to be "Super-Sized"!

I'm not one of these collectors that likes to buy the same thing over and over again repackaged. It just feeds corporate gluttony and empties wallets needlessly.

Right now, the entire first season is available in four single volumes (you can also get them shrink-wrapped together) and 3/4 of Season 2 is available. I think it depends on the success of the 6-disc set. Come to think of it, I would love to see the two 80s Spidey toons as well as the 82 Hulk.

That is SO annoying, i hate when the networks do this - no one buys a chronologically-ordered series, animated or not, just for three/four paltry episodes... bring on the box sets I say - I'm sure even passive fans would pay the extra in one go to get the whole season, I know i would

I Really Hate Clones and Farewell Spider-Man
The Cat and The Black Cat
Blade the Vampire Hunter and Morbius the Immortal Vampire (Or something like that)
Enter the Green Goblin and Return of the GG
Kraven the Hunter and another episode

When did these come out? They were only $6.29, If I could afford it, I would've picked up the Hobgoblin and Series Finale discs.
