The final Season 2 DVD is coming out in November. TvShowOnDVD has the details.

The release date is 11/23, and the cost is $14.97 SRP.

The cover art picture isn't that great so I can't tell if it's a snapper case or keep case.

I was hoping for a keep case but I guess a snapper will keep it in line with the other X-Men cartoon releases for WB. Maybe when they start the Season 3 DVDs they'll drop the snapper. I'm surprised there's been no talk of the DVD release here on the board. It has some of the best second season episodes on it!

Whoa, they're releasing these so quickly now. The only DVD from season 2 that I have is Mutants Rising. I really want to get this new one when it comes out becuase I've never seen Shadow Dance, Retreat, or The HeX Factor before,\.

This will bring the count up to 30 episodes, right? So that only leaves 22 more to be put on DVD? It would be great to see these all released next year over four of five more DVDs. I'll be glad to have a full collection. I just hope the extras aren't disappointing.

Cool! With the exception of Retreat, I love all these episodes. I have hopes for the comics-to-cartoon featurette, though the Toad quiz sounds like a waste of time.

I just discovered how upsetting these DVDs are. On average about 5 episodes every couple of months. WHY?!? Why can't they just release the whole stinkin series as a set? Or a few volumes? I don't want to get caught like I did with BTAS, wasting money on separate DVDs before something better came out. Does anyone know if they are going to make better sets of Evolution, because I'm not going to be buying anymore if they aren't. I've got tapes, and they do me just fine.
EDIT: While I'm ranting, why doesn't WB have a site for the show. Not the DVD, but the show. It can't be because it's cancelled; other cancelled shows have sites. By other cancelled shows I mean BTAS and Superman. If only X-Men could get such good treatment. Batman has spoiled me, now I need X-Men. Also, can anyone direct me to a place where I can contact WB about this? Either they don't have anything on their site, or I can't find it because I'm too upset.

Volumes is the way they're going to go for the next few years. 4 per year until the entire series is done. Season sets probably won't be seen until the current generation of youngsters are much older and will get nostalgic about a show like this. And by then, DVDs will probably be old news.

I understand that, but who came up with the bright idea to release the whole series over about 20 different DVDs? I realize that it's all about money, and that X:Evo is probably not their most profitable show, but wouldn't it be easier to have just released the whole series as one and just be done with it? Then they wouldn't have had to bother making so many pointless extras, and they wouldn't even have to produce so many DVDs. I just don't understand why they're doing it this way. I could see if they were only releasing a few random episodes over a few DVDs instead of the whole series, but they're not. The only possible reason I could imagine is they think they will sell more if they sell it at a lower price, because the whole series would be more expensive than what the casual buyer would pick up. Dividing it up allows more sales to stupid kids. I'm not trying to be rude, but everyone here probably gets what I mean.
Also, I just realized that it took years for Bat fans to get their DVD. It wasn't that long a wait for me. But X-Men is under different circumstances. Season sets of shows exist now. WB makes me mad.
I think the best way to go would have been like the MTV Spider-Man release. Release the whole series, then make a couple cheaper random versions for the casual buyer. Granted, Spider-man was a shorter series, but that way would make me happy.

With The Venom Saga a few months away (do we have an official announcement?), I thought I'd bump this.

After TVS, I don't have any idea what they'll do with these DVDs. It's presumed either Venom or Green Goblin will be in Spider-Man 3, and we don't have any Venom/GG episodes left! All we'll have...dare I say it...is a possible box set to cash in on??

Also, as with the Daredevil Vs Spider-Man DVD, we may get guest star movie cash ins. Iron Man and FF have thier own series to be released, what other Marvel movies are possible for next year?

On the preview for 'The Venom Saga' I noticed scenes from both 'The Hobgoblin' episodes and 'Venom Returns' and 'Carnage.' The scenes from the Hobgoblin episode looked to be from the show titles, though, and the Venom and Carnage stuff frpm the two part follow up episodes. So there is still a chance we're getting those two episodes.

I must have missed this post when it was posted or I would have responded sooner.

I watched the opening and the preview multiple times and Spider-Man is right. There are one or two clips from Carnage, but none exclusively from The Hobgoblin. If you look at every clip with the Hobgoblin in, you'll see it is also from the opening. In fact, one even goes on to show a clip of the Scorpion, which follows that same clip in the opening. Thus indicating it was captured from the opening, not a specific episode. Maybe if Disney is feeling generous, we'll get Doctor Strange on this DVD too, finishing both the Mordo story arc (minus a small refference in Spider Wars) and the season "Sins of the Father" arc.

This leaves us with the following as the list of episodes released on official, legal, Disney DVD.

Looking at that list still leaves me with the impression that we'll be getting a Kraven and/or Morbius DVD because of the missing episode from the forth season, but it's anybody's guess.

Disney have been far from logical with these releases. I can see the movie tie-in angle, but we've still got several Doc Ock episodes to be released, I'd have thought we'd have got some of those on DVD.

With an unrelated Venom/Carnage DVD on the way, we can only hope Disney will see fit to release another non movie tie in DVD in the future.

This could be the start of something new for Disney. Maybe this will help get the ball rolling on seperate releases. Then again, I have a feeling this DVD will hit on November 23rd, conveniently a week before Spider-Man 2 comes out.

MARVEL SUPER HEROES on DVD?

Amazon, Barnes&Noble and BestBuy have all added a listing for a 5-DVD set from Walt Disney Co., "60's Superhero Collection." No programming information in the listings, yet. B&N and BB show a release date of 11/16/04, while Amazon strangely reports 6/28/05.

Anyone have more information? Disney's website, and UltimateDisney, have no information (so far) that resembles these preorder listings.

Could this be the 1966 MARVEL SUPER HEROES cartoon series? (Disney's Buena Vista currently holds the rights to those toons.)

It contains he first 5 episodes of the following cartoons

The Avengers (which is actually from the 90's)

As far as I know a 5 disc boxset is listed for release on September 20 over here, but it seems to contain the same episodes that have already been released on the initial 5 DVDs. I'm sticking to the separate releases, particularly as Volume 2's for the five shows have been announced. Hopefully they'll release all 13 episodes of each of the shows.

The R2 DVDs were released by Maximum Entertainment, through an arrangement they have with Fox Kids UK. They've been releasing lots of other non-Marvel Fox Kids shows onto DVD as well. Disney isn't mentioned on the copyright, as they're dealing with Fox Kids only. Technically speaking this means that they could release other shows that Fox Kids could show (aside from the 90s shows) such as the three 80s Marvel toons.

Although the 80s shows have never been on Fox Kids UK however, I believe they could be shown with no problems. Sub-Mariner and Captain America have never been shown on Fox Kids UK, but they've certainly got copies of those shows to release onto DVD via ME.

I don't think that ME will be releasing any of the 80s and some of the 90s shows however, as it seems the only Marvel shows they can touch are the ones Disney/Buena Vista aren't interested in releasing to DVD themselves. Disney basically only want all the shows connected with characters who have had recent motion pictures. Note that Max Ent only released 4/5 of the 60s Marvel Superheroes shows, avoiding the Hulk, an episode of which was released as an extra on Disney's sole Hulk animated DVD.

I guess they were able to release The Avengers because no one wants to touch that!
