[Spider-Man]

I'm glad to see this board get the unfirom DVD thread, too! It's about time!

Now, I want to get back to this Spider-Man: The Venom Saga DVD problem. Why on earth would they delay it? Especialy considering they released promo images, had long trailers on that last Spidey DVD and even had - in big bold letter - Winter 2004! Is there any reason to push this back. I have a bad feeling this is X-Men: Wolverine's Story all over again.

I'm a little leary of Disney's releases. They have the whole nostalgia thing for the older shows, but the treatment the likes of X-Men and Spider-Man are getting is pitiful. One DVD to cash in on 2 of the biggest franchises around?

Batman is getting all episodes released on DVDM, with next year being branded 'The Year Of The Bat', and Spidey and X-Men are getting cheap cash ins.

Spidey hasn't left the air since it debuted, it's not logical to not want to cash in on the popularity of the show.

Spider-Man 3 is three years away. The way Disney is heading, that's when we'll next see another Spider-Man: TAS DVD.

This was pointed out to me. I went to the website for the last X-Men: Evolution DVD (the one with Captain America) and checked out the trailer there. The trailer is not for the last release, but for the DVD that comes out on Nov. 23rd - X-Men: Evolution - Mystique's Revenge. Here it is:

These X-Men: Evolution releases keep creeping up on me. Seems they announce them months beforehand, completely forget to promote them, and release them. I may actually pick this one up on time. I'm a little annoyed at these releases, no doubt I'll cave and pick them all up, but the sheer amount of money and a needlessly huge collection of discs is tiresome. Would it kill them to release them in a set, with more episodes on a disc. I'm glad we're getting them all, but 4 episodes a disc in this day and age is a joke, especially considering the pitiful features the discs seem to recieve.

I saw the Venom Saga VHS in Toys 'R Us yesterday, couldn't find the DVD. I've ordered the disc from www.play.com, hopefully will arrive tomorrow. I'll be reviewing it for my site, for those interested.

I don't feel too bad about how WB is going with X-Men: Evoluion. They're aiming the release more towards the younger crowd and I'm fine with that. I've bought all seven volumes so far and I'm not stopping now. With the Nov. XME DVD, that'll make 30 episodes to DVD, more than halfway there. They seem committed to finishing out the series and I'm fine. Besides, with how cheap the DVDs are getting I don't feel too badly about paying for individual releases.

I am really eager for them to, but I keep searching for news on it, nothing turns up, just people's customs. or will they even release solo DVDs like they are doing for X-Evo right now? Please tell me, this is giving me a headache, superhero shows (both Marvel and DC) that were so great aren't hitting DVD, and yet people will put a bunch of stupid low-quality things on DVD.

Marvel doesn't have the rights to most of those shows any more. Disney does. Marvel is currently suing Disney to try and get the rights back. It could be a very long process.

WB owns the rights to X-Evo, that is why it is being released on DVD.

Yeah, Marvel's lawsuit is holding things up in the DVD release department most likely. That might be why 'The Venom Saga' DVD was pushed back, if not cancelled.

Maybe Disney will be able to sneak out a few FF DVDs in time for the film's release next summer.

In the meantime, there are Hulk and Spider-Man TAS disks out if you can find them, as well the full MTV animated Spidey series, the entire 67 Spider-Man series, and the pending Avengers DTV.

I'm really not sure. As far as I am aware, they are simply re-releases, without the special features. Not only are they a blatant rip off, price wise, but the menu is the same as the season set release! It's also weird that this would be released in January, especially when Spider-Man 2 was released a few months back.

These are simply made for the "casual" fan. If a parent thinks his son might like Spider-Man, these are a good deal. They are not made for people who know they want the whole series.

Actually, I think it was MORE than fair for Sony to release the season set FIRST. Would it not make you more angry if they had released the single discs first with no knowledge of the season set coming?

X-Men: TAS DVDs??

I have been waiting since the first television show ever got released on dvd for my favorite television show ever. That show happens to be the X-men 1990's animated series. I have been waiting ever so patiently for this and i dont' think i can wait any longer. I'm desperate. I want no dvd more than this show. Unfortunatly it seems to me like i am the only one because i hear nothing about it. Does anyone have any news about it. I know there are bootlegged copies on ebay and i'm getting closer and closer everyday to breaking down and looking into those. I don't want to do that because i'm worried about whatever company who owns the rights to this going on ebay records and busting all the people who bought it. I hate stealing so does anyone have even the slightest tidbit of info about this series on dvd. I have heard about that comment that fox refuses to release it because there are too many pirated copies but i have also heard that was fake. Thanks.

The thing about stickies is that we've found a good majority of people don't look at them. Plus, given how Disney release these DVDs, we can often go months without any actual news.

Speaking of updates, Jim put up some news about the X-Men: Evolution DVD coming out Tuesday. It looks like WB is already working on season three which is comforting to hear! Since there is only about 22 episodes left to go on DVD I hope we can get them all before the end of 2005.

Off topic, but slightly relevant. Why is Gargoyles getting a set while Spidey gets the shaft? Is Gargoyles good or something?

My Venom Saga DVD featured trailers for some of the previous Spider-Man/X-Men discs. What interested me most was that the copyright text said the DVD was copyrighted in 2003. Maybe the DVD has been on the cards for longer than we expected, and has legal problems or something.
