We all know about the animation age ghetto, the outdated viewpoint many executives have, where they see animation as purely for kids, and no one else. I think there's something interesting to talk about when it comes to preschool animation. There definitely seems to be stigma surrounding preschool animation in how they can't have adaptations or revivals that specifically aim for an older target audience while staying animated. It's seen in how non-preschool shows and franchises like Samurai Jack, Young Justice, and Scooby Doo can have reboots or revivals aimed at adult audiences that are still animated, but when shows like Dora The Explorer and Vampirina do the same thing, it's in llive action (like the 2019 and 2025 Dora movies and the 2025 Vampirina show). The option to age up a preschool show for a different target audience can clearly be done, but it seems like executives think it can only do so by switching mediums.
