The "What'cha Been Playin'?" Thread

In Awesomenauts, I've been having victory streaks and losing streaks. I'm starting reevaluate my builds for the characters I play, especially the ones I'm bad at.

I have three recent highlights in Awesomenauts:

1. Early in one match, my team managed to wipeout the opposing team, leaving the lanes open for clearing. Two enemy 'nauts got so mad, they ragequit, leaving the remaining enemy 'naut with two bots to rely on. It was an easy match from there.

2. In another match, I was playing as a tank and teamed up with a damage dealer to straight up dominate our opponents. We were so dangerous, the enemy team started fearing us!

3. Today, I late-joined a match as Froggy G, my best character to play as. My team was on the losing side, but once I bought enough upgrades, I started pushing back the enemy team. Eventually both our teams were had access to each other's bases, but my team managed to wipeout the enemy team and rush their base for the win.

I have this love hate relationship with dark souls. I keep getting pissed stuck, keep dying and then in frustration delete my save only to start back up a couple weeks later. Currently I'm loving the game, it feels like I have a build that works.

I've been playing Earthsiege 2 thanks to the lovely folks at Hi-Rez releasing it for free. Fun little Mechwarrior clone, even has "all systems nominal."

I got into a strange Final Fantasy mode.
Currently playing Final Fantasy VII.

I bought Elite: Dangerous on sale on Steam and I'm currently going around looking for low intensity resource extraction sites so I can zap a few pirates.

Today, Awesomenauts released their new update that adds an xp system to the game. Now during matches, teams gain xp from killing enemies, which levels them up and increases the team's health and damage.

My first match in the xp system was a blast and left a good first impression! I was playing as my main man Ted McPain and my team did a good job working together. Heck at one point, I even sacrificed myself so my teammate could escape a brawl he was losing. He very much appreciated it and when we won, he wanted to friend me on Steam, but I declined.

DariusBurst Chronicle Saviors on Steam.

Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
I'm playing the Drake's Collection. I'm much farther than I've ever been when I 1st played this on the ps3. I stopped playing when I got to the section where you're riding the jet-ski and you only have a pistol (It's always some level dealing with water that I can't stand). I just have one more dreaded section I have to get through and then that's that. I do like the idea of being able to unlock items through collection treasures. Gives me a reason to replay the game.

Ultra Street Fighter 4
Going back and forth between this and Uncharted, but mainly playing Uncharted. That said, been playing Dudley and Ryu (and a little bit of Evil Ryu). I stopped playing randoms online, it's hard dealing with a so many whiny people (It's even bad trying to watch tournaments these days)

Tried out a little bit more of Arkham Knight and the game looks gorgeous, but the driving really is tedious, which is unfortunate cause the combat is so good. I kind of doubt it, but I'll try to come back to it at some point. Anyway, my focus have basically been on Uncharted, USF4 and I'm getting ready to start a Metal Gear Solid and Mass Effect run.

Metal Gear Solid (GBC)
The Gameboy Color game is pretty good so far, not a frustrating pile of feces.
Playing on Normal mode, thought it would be best to enter this level.

I've been playing Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon for the 3DS. I've already finished the storyline, which really surprised me. I didn't feel like I was that close to the end for awhile. The beginning was slower than I expected. It wasn't bad and it was important, but it was just different than I had expected. I didn't even officially join the main guild until about halfway through the storyline. The storyline was quite good and the ending still made me cry, although it threw in a different twist compared to other endings in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. The missions are really fun and I love how getting Pokemon to join your team is so much easier than in previous games.

I've played a bit of Snoopy's Grand Adventure too, although not as much as Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. It has been a pretty fun little platforming game with some really nice graphics.

I've been playing Killer Instinct on the SNES mainly as Cinder, Spinal or Orchid, while playing as Combo is very hard due to his combos being done in a different manner. Difficulty really isnt different so I just play with any of the 3 and still make to Eyedol no sweat.

In Awesomenauts, I've been using Scoop (a self-healing melee tank), Ted McPain (a tactical range/melee switcher), and Ksenia (a stealthy knife thrower) as my mains. However, I've started using characters I usually don't play as to shake things up. Fortunately, there's a program that lets me plan my builds and I use them for reference during matches. So far, I'm getting better at playing Coco Nebulon (a speedy nuker) and Rocco (a sluggish sniper) and I'm even winning games as them!

Here's a video of me playing a game of Awesomenauts as Ksenia. The quality is not that great, but I'm not well versed in video exporting.

Since my last post in this thread I've played and beaten all 3 Uncharted's and loved almost every minute of them. If I had to point out anything negative about the series (very small and nit-pickish) is Drake himself. I love how the characters interact with each other but Drake has a trait that I cannot stand among people. "Stupid". What I mean is, you know when you don't have a lot of good luck on your side and you decide to do something you know you have no business doing (stupid). In Drake's case, he finds a clue or lead and decide's "oh I gotta check this out right now" (then get caught up in the moment) and next thing you know, it just got real. Other than that I do love the series though. I hold the series in the same standards as I do the Metal Gear Solid series and Mass Effect series (not many games IMO can compete with them games)

Now for what I've been playing lately. Dragon Ball Xenoverse has been taking up a lot of my time. Shocking because I tend to stay away from the anime games, especially now. But I was watching a bit of DBZ abridged (the only way I can actually watch DBZ now) and got all nostalgic and wanted to create my own DBZ character. Despite the amount of flaws I'm finding with the game (main one being buttons can be unresponsive at times) I'm having a lot of fun. Back then when I had no interest in RPGs at all, the grinding was one of my concerns. I like the way it's handled here. When it comes to grinding I don't mind fighting over and over (part of it I think has got to do with my love of Street Fighter 3-4). I think right now my character is at lvl 48, a male saiyan, and kind of a well rounded character. I don't remember all of my equipment or skills but I do know that I have Super Vegeta (not exactly sure about the difference between that and Super Saiyan) and Final Flash and am currently trying to unlock Super Saiyan 2. Cell is also my trainer. Like I said, I'm having a lot of fun. Not the best game by any means, but it is fun once you start getting the hang of things. I'm seeing that there might be a sequel. I hope they handle the buttons a little better.

Of course I'm still at it with Street Fighter 3-4, but not as heavily at the moment. DB Xenoverse has been taking up the majority of my time and I'm gonna start up a Mass Effect run soon.

Edit:
As much fun as I've been having with DB Xenoverse, there are times where this game can get to the point of getting you beyond raging limits. There's this one parallel quest where you're fighting all super saiyans and each pairing gets tougher. I got to the last pairing and all they were doing was spamming Super Kamehameha's. If you weren't fighting the mechanics themselves this fight will be alright, but having unresponsive buttons, invisible walls (I got some huge issues with this one) and an unforgiving camera is too much. You won't have enough time to charge your ki, and it's too much like right trying to fight hand to hand (good luck with that since everybody seem to be able to block behind them). Your items won't get you too far either since you only have 4 slots and you use 1 and that one is done for good until the fight is over (yet I have roughly 10-20 healing items in my bag and I can only use 1 per fight, whatever).

That's enough of my rant, but I am done with this game. I can probably beat the rest of the story (the Buu saga was fairly easy for my character), but them parallel quests, man, I don't have it in me. On to Mass Effect

Spider-Man 2 (GBA)
Could have been better, wish it was better.
Can't say I don't enjoy it though, I can't hate it.

In Awesomenauts, I've been maining Nibbs the dragon for a little variety. At first my builds were terrible and was horrible at combat. Then I experimented with a new build that made it easier for her to land hits and realized how freakishly powerful she can be. Good thing she's getting a nerf next patch.

Here's my latest match as Nibbs and witness the power of a baby dragon.

I went back to Mechwarrior Online after being off it for 3 years due to a bunch of ridiculous things occurring that eventually stopped after the developers' parent company went kaput (IGP) which apparently was causing all the kerfuffle.

I'm garbage at the game, but I got myself a Hunchback and I'm going to try to group up with some guys who know the game better so I can figure out whether or not a brawler 'Mech is a good fit.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse
Yeah, I know I said I was done, but I did manage to finish the game, and I found out that you initially want to beat the game first and then everything start opening up on initial playthroughs. I guess my issue is the grinding itself. Yeah, I once stated that I liked the grinding, but now not so much. I didn't know it was like this. Everything being so random is off putting especially when you're aiming for Ultimate Finishes (which increases your chances of getting the better items, skills, etc), but failing to do so, even though you beat a parallel quest within 1-2 minutes from when you start. Like I stated, it's fun, and the reason I keep playing is because I want Vegito's clothes, but keep getting that reminder that this game is going to piss me off with the randomness. There have been multiple times where I feel like breaking the game in half and throwing it out the window. Not to mention I've reached a point where leveling up will take forever as well so that reward feeling seems like it's not there.

Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike
I think the closer Street Fighter 5 gets to its release date the more heavily I play this and USF4. Mainly because the hype fell off with me and at the moment I have no reason to really get into it now (I'll still buy for sure). Anyway, I actually didn't play Dudley this time. I mostly played Ken and Ryu. Tried using my arcade stick and man I do not like this thing at all. It's my own fault though (especially when it comes to comfort). I know it's not going to come to me overnight, but I just may stick with the controller. Found a way I can actually play and still feel a bit comfortable while playing. Hit-confirming is hard in this game.

Ultra Street Fighter 4
Now that Street Fighter 5 is coming, I have never seen so much hate for this game. And what I never understood is if so many people hated this game so much why did they continue to play it? These same people claim they love 3rd Strike more than this yet I didn't see these people playing 3rd Strike either. Plenty tournaments with the last 2 years for 3rd Strike and not one of these folks entered. As for me, I love this game (hell, I love both), and even though it's more of a love/hate relationship, I do love the game. If SFV had the stylish combo's I think I'd be more interested in it (Along with characters that I like). Played a bit of Dudley and Ryu. I suppose I can finally Shoryu FADC Ultra now lol. Consistently, probably not, but I can do it and I'm proud of that.

I have Samurai Warriors 4, God of War 3: Remastered and DmC: Definitive Edition on the way. These are mainly for when I need to deal with anger/stress (GoW and DmC specifically). I will be starting up a DMC4 run soon as well. Not ready to start Mass Effect yet lol.

Been gaming so much on Counter-strike: Global Offensive. It's dope :) Me and the buds are going to use this service to build our own game server, then just straight up multiplayer with people we trust! Going to be awesome :D Anyone else playing CSGO?

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
