Being better than Shippuden ain't much of an accomplishment. Regardless, FT is way to tame for Toonami.

Well personally I think as animes Fairy Tail is way better than Shippuden, but that is just my opinion. Actully people agree that the Fairy Tail anime is better than the manga, the story is just presented better in the anime than the manga in the opinions of many.

I can't really compare Fairy Tail to Shippuden or the manga since I'm not really familiar with either one of them. I've only seen about the first fifty episodes of the series and I do like it. It has some likable characters, good action, most of the arcs have decent pacing and there are some good emotional moments in some of the arcs I've seen. It would be cool to see it on Toonami in a way, but my main issue is that Toonami already has a lot of long-running shows on their lineup and adding in a fourth one into the mix might not be the best way to handle it.

I know there's people who'd like to see Fairy Tail, but even with Bleach a little over a year from finishing, do we want four in a row? Especially three that would be on a long time. We don't know if we'll still have 11:30 when Space Dandy ends, so it could start at 1:30 then move to 11:30. Whatever the case, I want to see newer and shorter premiers within the first couple hours of the block. Something short and sweet that can be replaced upon finishing so there's some variety. Who knows they'll do when Bleach ends.

We know guaranteed there's at least '1' big announcement, but we don't even know how deep in 2014 that announcement comes to light. If it's Fairy Tail, that's fine, but again, hope to see some more 26ish episode series when Space Dandy ends, and as early as possible.

One of the big announcements is likely Attack on Titan. It's currently the most requested show for Toonami, and it was the most popular anime of last year. It's practically a no brainer, and it's more of a question of when, not if.

Nah, One Piece is good in this area. I think it's referring to how Fairy Tail has no blood or anything like that. One Piece got that.

That's what I've BEEN suggesting since the block was revived! Granted Adult Swim can only go with one Funimation title at a time for now. But I hope that someday they'll consider it.

The latter. One Piece may be a kids show, but at least it has some violence, blood and swearing to make it seem like it skewers toward a slightly older audience. FT's violenceand language, by contrast wouldn't feel out of place on Nicktoons, even uncut.

Jason DeMarco had a small Toonami Q&A on his Twitter earlier today. Some highlights:

- The Toonami intros for Bleach and Naruto: Shippuden will continue to be used.
- Space Dandy was pitched to Adult Swim after Toonami's revival.
- They'll be taking a look at Sword Art Online II, since they like Sword Art Online.
- Space Dandy performed well ratings-wise.
- They've seen about 5-6 episodes of Space Dandy so far.
- The Japanese opening for Space Dandy was cut because of timing and licensing issues.

I really hope that they don't go for Sword Art Online II since I'd rather see them get better shows, but since they like Sword Art Online, it's a possibility. If they do air it, I'll most likely skip it. A part of me might be curious to see the so-called best arc of the novels, but depending on the schedule at that point, getting more sleep would be more appealing, especially when that arc has the same kind of problems that the first series has from what I understand. I figured that they'd keep at least the intro for Bleach, but it's too bad that they can't do more for Shippuden for the people who like that opening. I had a feeling that there was licensing issues with the Space Dandy opening, but it's kind of disappointed that they can't have the first show of the block with the full opening.

Parts of me wouldn't mind if all shows, even Space Dandy if they could, just skipped their original intro in favor of a 7, 10 or 30 second intro. I remember it was like that for a long time on the weekday Toonami, and it never bothered me that I didn't see the opening. Probably a lot of people wouldn't like that, but it's a thought. They could do full endings or no endings with that, if it were done.

Nice though that they could do the full Dandy intro if enough people request it.

Shame about Dandy's op, but hey, at least what we have is better than the Bleach and Shippuden Toonami intros. ^^,

I personally believe Toonami's attempting to transition to no shows (sans Bebop) keeping their opening themes. Bleach's running time doesn't really require losing the opening theme, they're just cutting the theme because they want to, same with Shippuden. The effect is that Toonami from One Piece-SAO started early until FLCL eventually aired to even things out, but I can't see FLCL staying on the block forever.

The thing is, if Attack on Titan gets picked up and they don't air Guren no Yumiya and Jiyu no Tsubasa (the two opening themes for AoT), there will be Internet riots. People are going to want those songs aired. This strategy may come to bite Toonami hard in the ass in the public relations department because Guren no Yumiya in particular is a land mine waiting to be stepped on; it's pretty much an iconic song already and it's for sale in the US iTunes store (along with Jiyu no Tsubasa and one other Linked Horizon song on the same EP).

It would be disappointing if they don't give any of the shows besides Bebop a full opening theme. It would be especially bad if they didn't air the full openings for Attack on Titan if they do pick it up. Guren no Yumiya is basically this decade's "Tank!" or "Ready Steady Go" in terms of how popular it is with the US audience, it's synonymous with the show itself. Jiyu no Tsubasa is pretty popular too, not at "Tank!" level but definitely at "Ready Steady Go" levels. Toonami basically HAS to run these themes or they're completely tone-deaf. If DeMarco is getting frustrated over the complaints over Bleach and Shippuden's OPs getting cut, he hasn't seen anything yet if he decides to remove AoT's opening themes. It'll be pretty bad.

And the truth is, even though AoT has a longer running time than Bleach and Naruto Shippuden, they could pull it off. They'd basically have to pull a Moribito and run a five-second credits sequence with a black screen and a piece of AoT's BGM playing in the background, and of course cut the preview. But they could pull it off. And people would be fine with that because the actual ending themes are massively overshadowed by the OP themes, people forget they exist. XD

I don't mind Toonami cutting intros one bit, but with Shippuden I just think it's kinda stupid because Shippuden is shorter than most shows and that it causes the block to run slightly off-time until FLCL comes on. Maybe when FLCL leaves and it kinda never evens out, they'll realize this.

I'm REEEEAAALLY hoping by the time Samurai Jack airs in February or Blue Exorcist airs in March, more people are going to get over the whole "opening/ending theme", problem. Because I'm not gonna lie, hearing everyone complain over this regardless of whether it's justified or not is becoming a really crappy buzzkill for being able to enjoy watching Toonami first thing in 2014.

Toonami's custom intro's have honestly gotten rather bland, and I believe they got flack for removing intros even in their heyday. I can say that people are justified with their complaints.

The thing is, if Attack on Titan gets picked up and they don't air Guren no Yumiya and Jiyu no Tsubasa (the two opening themes for AoT), there will be Internet riots. People are going to want those songs aired.

Yup, hardcore fans will howl...while ratings chug right along. I've seen and heard it all before, this issue isn't new. I'd like to have it all, sure, but given the choice I know what one I would make: openings and endings are secondary to an unedited episode and, yes, to money, which makes all this possible to begin with.

In the end, this is what home video releases and youtube are for.

I disagree. I don't think they're justified. Not to the extent that they'll easily outright condemn the only basic cable TV network that still cares to broadcast anime with/without a merchandise tie-in. And when people say it's not enough whether those openings and closings are available on home video, digital download or somewhere on the internet, where do you draw the line with how entitled people have the right to be?
