"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

They will rerun it, but it definitely won't be reran in the 12:30 AM slot. If there's no new show, they're probably going to move Casshern Sins to 12:30 AM and put Deadman Wonderland at 1:00 AM.

If they have a new show, then Deadman Wonderland repeats will probably be at 1:30 AM, pushing back Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. By the time Deadman Wonderland is done, Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop will have finished their runs, so I think one of them will leave the schedule (most likely Ghost in the Shell).
Somehow I can't see Toonami running on just new Bleach and new Casshern, or at least I don't think It's the greatest idea. I feel like something else new should come along when Deadman finishes, and maybe like Ghost in the Shell should leave so Deadman can air reruns.

In all likelihood, Tiger & Bunny or something new from FUNimation will be replacing Deadman Wonderland when that show wraps up (barring an Aniplex surprise). I have no clue what will replace GITS though which will wrap up a couple weeks before Deadman's finale.

Yeah, I agree that it's most likely going to be a FUNimation show replacing Deadman Wonderland. I don't really see what Aniplex USA show Adult Swim can pick up. I don't think Durarara!! did bad, but I don't think it did great either so I'm not so sure if Adult Swim is eager to acquire another anime series from them. IIRC, Kekkaishi did better than Durarara!!. I think there's more of a chance of a Viz show getting picked up than Aniplex, like Inuyasha: The Final Act.

I think when Ghost in the Shell ends, FLCL can take over since it's only 6 episodes. If not, I guess Ghost in the Shell can start from episode 1 and leave when Deadman Wonderland is done.

Aniplex has two series that have potential to do well on Toonami: Fate/ZERO and Blue Exorcist. However, Aniplex hasn't shown any interest in dubbing either series and in fact seems to be trying to prevent Western consumers from accessing the former series at all by making the DVD costs prohibitively high. This doesn't mean that Aniplex isn't dubbing either series though, Aniplex kinda kept the DRRR!! dub a secret right up until release. Madoka didn't get the same treatment however, Madoka's dub was announced well before release. So it could fall either way.

FLCL could probably hold down the fort for a few weeks, I would not be shocked to see that show make a one-and-done run as a placeholder to buy time for greater, newer things. As for Viz, I think Inuyasha's chances have become remote at best . . . I think AS is moving on from Inuyasha and they don't seem to think that The Final Act would do well enough to justify the asking price. Tiger & Bunny which has massive mainstream potential would likely be the smarter choice. Viz thinks so too considering they're spending big bucks on the dub (just check out the announced cast so far).

The question if it's a FUNimation show is whether it's something new whose DVD release is a while away (A Certain Magical Index, Steins; Gate, Shangri-La) or something a bit older that was under the radar like Casshern SINS was (Shakugan no Shana, Gai-Rei ZERO, GunXSword, about a zillion others). Keep in mind that if FUNi sold their shows in packages, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was renewed a couple of months ago and there's a possibility FUNi attached a show to the deal to continue running Brotherhood. Whether that show is already on the air or hasn't yet doesn't really matter . . . but at the same time I wouldn't hold my breath, it's just as likely that FUNi didn't attach anything to the deal.

I would not discount a Toonami classic from showing up in one of the later slots either. In all likelihood it'll be something owned by FUNi, like Yuyu Hakusho, considering how much of a withered remnant Bandai Entertainment is. But Trigun got featured on April Fools' Day and the powers that be might find it appropriate to give the show a run.

Aniplex does sell their DVDs at a really costly price. I wish they sold their DVDs at other places other than RightStuf and their online store. And when DVD sales don't do well, they wonder why. It could be possible that Fate/ZERO or Blue Exorcist could be picked up, but I still think that a Viz or FUNimation series is way more likely.

As for a Viz series, it doesn't have to be Inuyasha: The Final Act. I've also noticed that Adult Swim might not be interested in Inuyasha (Heck, maybe they even let the rights to the original series expire). The only reason I say this is because Jason DeMarco tweeted that one of the shows that they're considering is The Final Act. Though maybe Tiger and Bunny has a better chance. He did list a whole lot of other shows, so it could be any of those.

I hope that if it's a FUNimation show to replace Deadman Wonderland, it's a series that isn't available on DVD yet. I think it helps increase the ratings. But a series that's under the radar like Casshern Sins isn't too bad either.

It would be awesome if Toonami is able to get a classic anime on their line-up. It could air at 1:30 AM or at 2:00 AM, right before Cowboy Bebop (assuming that it's staying). If they do get a classic series, I'm hoping it's Outlaw Star, since the show has proven already how well it could do.

I still say they should grab Last Exile in preparation for when Fan: The Silver Wing finally gets dubbed.

Nice find macattack. Excited to see that new shows are coming soon.

Willing to bet on a newer show, regardless of whenever or not an older or newer show gets replaced. More on this later when I get home.

If it's a FUNimation show then it's probably either Steins Gate or Panty & Stocking and the jury is still out on whether or not they can even play P&S.

For Viz I wouldn't rule out Final Act just yet but they could choose to by-pass it entirely or simply wait until Viz is willing to lower the price. In which case the best contender is Tiger & Bunny and that might be ready by the time Deadman ends but more likely will have to wait until Casshern ends.

They may decide that playing something from the old days is the best use of their budget after introducing two new shows. DeMarco said he'd like to play Gundam Wing again so that might give it an edge over the other Bandai anime despite Outlaw Star clearly earning a shot by being the only series to get better ratings than the show that aired before it on April 1st. They may not be able to play it entirely uncut though and that means they have to make some modifications to run a less censored cut than the Y7 one.

When GITS ends I would love to see it replaced by Outlaw Star. Though if that doesn't happen they could just air Big O again. Technically it is a Toonami classic.

Welcome to Toonami, Winry. You'll like it here. They have ratings.

My only hangup with Panty & Stocking on Toonami is how they would censor certain episodes, particularly the one titled "High School Nudical". I don't see them airing that one without getting a few nasty emails from one or two lazy parents.

Looks like we have the next Toonami show on our hands

:P But seriously though, cudos to Combuskenisawesome for the Toonami templates! He truly is awesome!

I enjoy when someone puts those together, so I hope to see a lot of these.

This was my first time touching any form of video software, but I was really excited about seeing these templates available, I always wanted to be able to make my own intro to something using the Toonami look. My approach was a bit different since I used Video Games instead of actual shows. Tell me if you guys like it.

Anybody knows if this true or not? Its probably another scheduling error but it will be pretty great if [as] is giving anime more reruns.

It's very likely a scheduling error. Don't get your hopes up.

Someone always falls for the schedule errors. I hope this one doesn't cause too much of a stir. That's exactly the kind of ammo the whiners would exploit.

Yeah, it appears to be the result of the July 2nd schedule not loading yet. Its actually displaying June 2nd schedule. Apologies.

When I first saw this, I knew right then it was fake. No way they would allow Toonami reruns so soon aside from Saturday.

Today marks the 15th Year Anniversary of ThunderCats (2011). While I find it unfortunate that the show was canceled before it had a chance to finish its story, I am glad that the show's art director was willing to give fans closure via a podcast interview.
Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
