"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

At least this disproves the "Bandai has it so Toonami will never air it" conspiracy theory. This gives a chance for shows such as Outlaw Star, Gundam 00 and Gurren Lagann to appear on Toonami some day.

Manga has Gurren Lagann and potentially 00 for broadcast.

Nice, I've yet to see Eureka 7 or Samurai 7 so it will be quite the treat to be exposed to both of these shows through Toonami, I just hope they're both good and worth watching. I'll be totally sad to see Deadman Wonderland go but at least I will always have the memories of Toonami airing it and exposing me to this show for the first time, thank you Toonami and thank you CN/AS for bringing in such an awesome show! I can't wait to take a bite out of Eureka 7 and Samurai 7, I've been watching trailers for both shows on YouTube and the excitement within me is building for their premieres.

So, Adult Swim updated their on air schedule today, and the new Toonami schedule is:

12:00AM: Bleach (premieres)
12:30AM: Samurai 7 (premieres)
1:00AM: Casshern Sins (premieres)
1:30AM: Eureka Seven (premieres for Toonami)
2:00AM: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
2.30AM: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

I guess Ghost in the Shell is tame enough to air at 5:30AM. Also, I still don't know if Samurai 7 or Eureka Seven are going to be streamed on Adult Swim's website. Their video schedule only lists Casshern Sins episodes for Adult Swim Gold.

Yes for the most part GITS is tame enough for 5:30 AM but Jungle Cruise is one episode I'll be surprised to see aired at 5:30 AM.

I would not be surprised if they don't stream Samurai 7 and Eureka 7 as both are already streaming on legal websites for free, Casshern's dub was only available on Netflix and Deadman's dub was a Toonami exclusive (so is Bleach's because the DVDs are way behind broadcast).

Weird how they're not pairing the Lucky 7's back to back. I guess they want Samurai 7 to do as well as it can by airing after Bleach, since it's new to both Adult Swim and Toonami.

I'm assuming the reason for that is because Casshern Sins is newer than Eureka Seven (at least on Adult Swim), and they want to air the newer shows first. If Eureka Seven somehow does better than Casshern Sins, then it might a good idea to switch those two.

I wonder how the "American Cowboys" disclaimer will play on Toonami. Given that Deadman's gotten away with worse violence, I wouldn't be shocked if they just change the rating for Jungle Cruise from a 14 to an MA and leave it at that without the disclaimer.

TV-MA right before Looney Tunes would be kinda a risk.

Given this is "Toonami on [adult swim]" Eureka Seven is kind of difficult to call a "premiere".

Anyone else get excited to see Tom talk about Outlaw Star to only turn out to be about DVDs

Yep... maybe Bandai will only let them have it if they sell a certain number of units? :P

So, Jason DeMarco says that networks don't keep past promo work. That means Cartoon Network/Adult Swim doesn't have any of the past Toonami bumps and promos anymore. Lucky for us, we have Toonami Arensal, YouTube, etc.

I actually already knew this. When I talked to C. Martin Croker at NYCC, he told me how he sadly didn't have his old Moltar bumps and promos because CN didn't hold on to them. I told him about the Arenal, though, which he was very interested in checking out.

That doesn't include bumpers, right? Because I was about to say that Nick kept their old 90s promos for the 90s Are All That New Years week thing months back. Though those were probably bumpers too.

He tweeted earlier that the network doesn't have the bumps, reviews, and speeches from '97 - '08 anymore. Maybe Nick does things differently...

Was a nice night. Now to hit the sack.

Although Renton is kind of annoying. I hope he doesn't get Naruto-bad.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
