This is pretty funny.

And then 12 minutes later

I wish I was watching SAO.

What's that supposed to mean? Panty & Stocking is better than anything Toonami has aired?

I'd argue that it'd be better than any of the shows that are currently in premieres actually. Except One Piece but that's only because I'm just starting that.

I don't that is far to call it a poor man's One Piece. Fairy Tail is more like Rave Master than One Piece. And there are difference, the Strawhats are a bunch of out laws constantly being hunted ty the marines, while the Fairy Tail guild is a legit law abiding guild, who can walk around freely without having to worry about being chased around by the rurin knights and the magic council. Yeah Gildarts is a rip off of Shanks, but that is about it. Everything else, is not like One Piece didn't rip off somebody.

As for Fairy Tail's popularity, like it or not it is as big as the Big 3, I have been on certain sites that have their own manga rankings for english speaking fans, Fairy Tail is always near the top of list, if not on the top of the list at times. (BTW, is the most popular manga on most of these lists is Naruto, it is not One Piece, it is Naruto that is the champ) Not to mention the DVD sales, Funimation was only going to license more episodes based on sales and they already licensed the whole series, so it must doing something right.

Speaking of which, I see just as much similarity in Naruto as I do One Piece in Fairy Tail. In Fairy Tail, they are broken down into teams, and they go on missions. The Strawhats don't go on missions, they are not split into different teams at least by design.

There are quite a few similarities to Naruto and Bleach which One Piece does not have in common with Fairy Tail. Much of the "it's a poor man's One Piece" comes from the opinion that the art is similar and Natsu is a dead ringer for Luffy in particular and Gildarts. Though none seem quite as deliberately the same as that one guy early on who looks like Shikamaru from Naruto.

It's not like One Piece didn't rip-off somebody? Like most shounen adventure manga to come after Dragon Ball it takes some inspiration from that series but borrowing themes, elements and character cliches doesn't in itself mean the author is ripping off somebody else's work. I would like to hear what you feel One Piece is ripping off.

In America, Naruto is the most popular of "the big 3" and Bleach is 2nd and that's a stark contrast from Japan where One Piece is king followed by Naruto and Bleach isn't even that popular anymore. Fairy Tail is occasionally on the the best selling manga list posted by New York Times so there's no question it sells.

Fairy Tail is very popular right now but if you can agree that it has similar elements to the 3 long running shounen already on Toonami then I'd say it's obvious why it would simply be more of the same and not shockingly, most people think 2 to 3 of those long running shounen is enough and 4 is downright excessive.

To be honest I tried to get into Fairy Tail and I hear it gets more interesting but I'd much rather the next FUNimation show on Toonami to be a shorter series and Attack on Titan in particular which is currently killing it on the US manga sales charts with multiple volumes in the top 10 for the past few weeks. Not many series manage to get multiple volumes in the top 10 at the same time.

I'm curious; are you aware that Rave Master and Fairy Tail were done by the same guy?

A lot of people criticize Fairy Tail for copying One Piece's art style. Only, you know, it doesn't have nearly the same skill or energy.

LOL. Naruto hasn't used the mission system in eons.

I don't reallt want to join in on this, since I believe all are good in their own ways and it's up to oneself to decide, but I have to say that nothing beats how Gildarts is similar to Shanks at all. Not that it's a bad thing, they're meant to get inspired by each other. Shanks is a solid character and so is Gildarts.

If you can access that through your provider you can also watch many of the Toonami premieres if you missed them and those views count toward the success but you'll have to watch Sword Art and IGPX live. Another perk for those of us who are not on the east coast is access to the east coast feed. Toonami at 9PM for the win!

Wouldn't you already have it at 9pm anyway in PST? I wouldn't see how you'd get it earlier online when all it is is a time difference. Maybe I'm mis-reading your post, though. Either way... I'm sure lots of us have 'some' jealousy of you PST'rs ;)

He gets 2 feeds, east and west coast. So what east coast sees at midnight he sees at 9, or can wait til midnight his time if he watches west coast feed.

Toonami at 9PM for the win!
I agree with you wholeheartedly. In fact, I've been watching Toonami at 9 since the original Midnight Run in '99.

So, did anyone give the stream a shot on Saturday night?

I sure did, because I was working a 13 hour security shift, which became 17 hours when my dang relief didn't show up on Sunday morning. I managed to get a decent enough connection despite the area being a bit of a dead zone. I was able to watch One Piece, SAO and IGPX. They don't run the exact same commercials as on-air and I imagine there's some network and advertising politics about that. The way they do it almost seems like a warm-up for doing an all day feed but for now it's nice to be able to watch Adult Swim shows from my computer or phone when I'm not home to watch them on the TV. It is however difficult to live tweet while watching Toonami from the phone app but that's a serious first world problem if ever I came across one.

I did have the east feed when I had DirecTV but Comcast Xfinty doesn't offer both feeds so it's nice to have the east feed again. I don't mind staying up that late to watch but you really miss out on the community experience on twitter if you can't watch the east coast feed.

They likely won't ever have an all-day feed. Cartoon Network's feed runs during the day and ends when Adult Swim's begins. It's functioning the same way nearly all the other cable network live streams are except it's not all-day due to the network being split up in this way.

I'm aware of CN's daytime feed but I do see the potential of taking this broadcast of Adult Swim and expanding it beyond what they are willing to do on the TV network.

I'm pretty sure that's new. I'm not too surprised that IGPX isn't getting a second run right away. Its ratings haven't been good enough to warrant getting a second run right away. If they still have the rights for a good long time, then I could see them giving it another run later on in the block at some point. I've never seen FLCL. If it does take IGPX's slot, I might check it out or I might just go to sleep earlier than I normally do on Saturday nights.

Oh yeah. I totally missed that part when reading over the announcement. My mistake. I'm not surprised that they're pushing it that late due to its ratings and they'd probably want to give Cowboy Bebop a break for awhile too. I'm still not sure if I'll watch FLCL, but I'll think about it.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
