"Toonami" News & Discussion Thread

Good to finally have an airdate set. Too bad it'll be an hour later than it previously was, but hopefully it continues to do well.

Edit: Here's the trailer:

I kind of figured that it would keep the same timeslot for season two. If they couldn't get the 11PM slot for Attack on Titan, I wasn't so sure that they'd be able to get it for the next season of Space Dandy. It's too bad that they won't be able to air the full opening theme, but I think that I prefer the American opening more than the Japanese opening theme anyway. I'm sure that being a new season will help boost its ratings.

Why can't Dandy air before Bleach in the 12:00 slot?

Comrades,

I want season 2 of space dandy to be good but my expectations are VERY low. except for the animation and ian sinclairs performance, season one was bad. most of the jokes fell flat and the adventures aren't as zany as they should be. also for a show that mentions breasts so often there is surprising lack of nudity and fanservice in general. whats up with that?

it's good that its staying at 12:30. i think bleach and attack on titan will benefit more from the earlier time slots. the repeats of dandy still do good in the ratings.

July 5th schedule posted. We're getting a mini Dandy-thon to go with the season premiere.

Toonami

And to anyone lamenting about no long open for season two, Jason DeMarco already said we'll be getting the full thing for the premieres.
Huh, I thought Episode 12 would have ran the week prior, although I haven't been keeping track of the re-run schedule. But thank god for getting the long intro.

That is superb! Love that theme. For me I get into it a little more. I know 11:30's a given, but it'll be amusing to see both the long and short intro on the same night.

I think that Space Dandy should take that midnight slot away from Bleach. It proved that during its first run, it can get higher ratings than Bleach.

Bleach can probably get better ratings when being the one airing first too. Bleach has been at 12 for a very long time and I so think they should keep it there. I also think Dandy right after Titan is a bad idea.

But yeah it was obvious they wanted to air it at 12:30pm. Otherwise they wouldn't have put it there. They want as few schedule changes as possible.

Bleach only has 20 episodes left. After so many years in that slot and with the end quickly approaching, they might as well keep it there until the very end.

I'm fine with the lack of fanservice and nudity. I don't see how either element would help improve the series' humor or entertainment value.

I'm kind of surprised that they pre-empted Attack on Titan. I thought that they would air episode thirteen in Bleach's timeslot so that they could air all of season one again before getting into season two, but I can see why they'd want to have a mini marathon for the new season. As for the timeslot, I think it would be good to just keep Bleach at 12AM for the time being. It's been in that slot for a long time and is close to ending anyway, so might as well let it finish airing there.

Well, guess that explains the multiple deaths.

All I can imagine is every single Dandy in every single universe bites the dust, then on the following episode, he's back :p

I would not be surprised if they go that route for the season premiere in the slightest. It seems like an obvious choice for them to make with bringing all of the different Space Dandy characters together.

Viz Media Adds JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood - News - Anime News Network Hints of news at AX... Could it be they've licensed the anime? After pulling off the impossible with Sailor Moon I wouldn't put it past Viz to do the same again. I guess if T&B and Final Act are really lost causes for Toonami (shame about the former), then Jojos would be great to see when Bleach ends.

That could be a possibility since I'm not sure if they'd save more announcements about the manga for Anime Expo. Plus, it would give them even more attention after licensing Sailor Moon and by extension, more money. Seeing the series on the block could be interesting.

Okay, so I found out that Sailor Moon had meet and greets at Universal Studios back in May. It would have been so cool if we had that at the turn of the century. I have gotten hugs from a Sailor Moon and a Sailor Mars at a local con back in the 2010s and spent under $100 doing it, so I don't know if this is worth the splurge but I can see that these affluent geeky people are enjoying their Sailor Moon hugs.
The characters from Netflix's Mating Season apparently were born from the same deeps as the Warner Bros cartoon characters
