Interest has died down a little here, but the talkbacks still chug along! Here's this week's talkback for the newest Fox Box hit, "The Winx Club."

The story so far...
Having been together for a good bit now, the 'Winx Club': Bloom, Stella, Flora, Musa, and Tecna, are starting to gel as friends. That is, until Stella returns from a date with Prince Sky uppity and tearing their dorm room apart! Concerned for Stella's strange behavior, the girls retrace her footsteps... and learn of the Senior Witches' dastardly plot. But in a shocking twist, Bloom decides to just give up the Ring of Solaria to save Stella instead of fighting the witches... despite a 4-to-3 advantage!

This week's preview, courtesy of Stella...
Like, even though Bloom doesn't regret her decision, we so have to get that ring back! Luckily, our friendship will triumph and nothing 'cept for a good sale at the mall will stop us from getting my ring back! But first... who invited that icky monster in here?

Blah blah blah, usual stuff. This'll also be the last week I'll do ratings. Starting next week, I'll only mention them if it's something significant. And on that note, I'm here to stay! As long as people continue to post here in the talkbacks, I'll be putting them up every week! So, hurray for "The Winx Club." Let's hope the show continues to succeed come September!

Another winner. Next week looks pretty cool, as well.

-So, I guess Bloom can walk into fire okay. I'm liking her more and more each week.

-I'm also liking Flora more and more with every episode. Nice little spell she concocted (sp?) there.

-Unfortunately, Punishment 4-D (temporary removal of powers) rears its ugly head, causing us to slam head-on into our first cliffhanger of the series.

Other than that minor gripe, a fun little episode. Worthy of a 4.

Next time on "Winx": The girls encounter their biggest enemy yet... literally. Without their powers, the Club will have to rely on Red Fountain, and their cunning, to get them out of this mess. Will they escape? And when will they get their powers back? Find out next Saturday.

Aside from Stella being grating at times, Techna can be a bit irritating at times too, seemingly, bragging about how smart she is.

I'm a little confused as to just how conscious Bloom was when she was following the voice. She talked as if she were fully aware of her surroundings, but at the same time, questioned how she got to the tunnel, as if she were sleepwalking there.

Musa's expression right before entering the tunnel? Just priceless.

Cranky Woman, being called that due to not remembering her name, has some sort of obvious vendetta against the girls. It's not so much her enforcing the rules, but her not allowing the headmistress to give them a chance to explain themselves that kinda' makes me feel she has something against the girls. Whether or not it would've helped their case is another matter, but I don't see why Cranky Woman was so irate with the headmistress wanting to hear their side of the story--unless Cranky Woman just plain had something against the girls.

Episode 6 Review - "Secret Guardian" (3 out of 4)

Pluses:
+ I'm kinda glad the show strings episodes together rather than being episodic. Which style works for which series I guess depends on the genre and what the characters in the series are trying to accomplish. For example, an episodic version of "The Winx Club" would probably have them more focused on the going shopping and looking great deal. Not that it's a bad thing... it works with the right show.
+ Add one point for revolving back to Bloom's quest to know how she got her powers. It hasn't been touched on here at Alfea until now. Although nothing new was discovered, we were left with a few new questions. Like who helped Bloom and the girls escape from that fiery pit?

Minuses:
- Today's episode lost two points because the dialogue was a whole lot more cheesy than usual. Old-school 'Digimon' type cheesy. No surprise half of the fluff was delivered by Stella.

Other Observations:
* Frank15 brought up this, which I was gonna touch upon myself. Tecna. Though I think she was particularly grating because she was rushing to get the group out of Cloud Tower before they were spotted. If it were me in the same situation, I'd probably do the same. And as a result of not listening to Tecna... well, you know the rest.
* Edit (Added 7/26): Almost forgot about to comment on the Great Dragon. Apparently, the GD is the 'God' of the Magix realm, creating its own 'Big Bang syndrome' and bring forth the realm that all magical beings now reside on. A part of me tells me that Bloom's quest to learn how she got her powers ties in to this somehow.

Quote of the Week:
In an episode full of forgettable quotes, it was hard to find something good to use. Even after praising Flora last week, I couldn't find a good line from her. Not that she had many... it seems Stella and Bloom do almost all the talking. In the end, I picked a line from the beginning of the episode... from one of the Witches, no doubt!

"And you, I dare you to keep defying me, you second-rate ring!"
- Icy, peeved about not being able to activate the Ring of Solaria, throwing said ring in frustration at the wall

Next week looks really interesting as the plot thickens. And the girls without their powers? How are they going to manage?

I think this was the strongest episode to date because there was actually some meat in the story. As Freedom Fighter said, Bloom's quest to find how she got her powers and the mysterious voice she heard.

I disagree about Tecna as I don't find her annoying at all. That honor goes to Stella and to a lesser degree, Musa. Speaking of Tecna, she has digital powers, yes? She said she downloaded the layout of Cloud Tower and that she memorized it. Did she memorize it because the DLing of the map is considered digital so she just memorized it? Strange power.

I don't understand what Stella's ring is actually for. It sounds like she can't use her powers without the ring, but every other girls have no such ring and they use their powers just fine.

Did anyone notice a wink that Flora did? That was so cute! I'm in love. :o She's definately my favorite character. She was in environmentalist mode again after doing that spell of hers.

I don't think it was so much that Bloom can walk into fire as it was the fire kind of moved away from her as she walked.

You'd think they would've taken those two books with them. Oh well. It's clear now that this show is of the "ongoing plot" type, and that's almost always a good thing.

I just stopped commenting because I really couldn't see anything worthy to comment on anymore. Take that as you will.

2 things i feel i must comment on:

1.) *Slaps Griselda*. I want to multiple slap that old lady over and over. Faragonda is ok, she's nice. Anyway, my beef with her is the fact she wouldnt let the girls explain themselves. I mean, good grief, isnt the ring like a Royal symbol of Solaria? That would be what i call an 'emergency' enough to break into the tower to get it back. Even more, some 'unknown' power is linked to it, so it would be far too dangerous to let the witches hold onto it. So i think the girls should have told Griselda how powerfull the witches would become if they kept it.

2.) I have a theory concerning the voice in bloom's head. Call me crazy, but i think the 'Great Dragon' (that was talked about at the beginning of the episode) may be living inside of Bloom. That would explain the voice. Another side note: I dont know if my tv captions were acting up, but the captions showed the name of that voice talking being "Daphne".

last thing i want to say, SonicX was TV while i was typing the previous paragraph and i noticed that whoever does Amy's voice on SonicX, sounds like also does Musa's voice too. They sound WAY too similar.

Ok, I think im done running my mouth.

I gave this episode a 2.

Im 'obsessed' with this show, but i still liked the 3rd episode best (with the school dance). I personally didnt find this episode as entertaining as the last 1.

is it just me or does Winx sound like the name of a recreational drug?

"dude I just dropped some winx and I'm totally trippin' right now...that hot chick over there looks like she's got fairy wings"
"dude, you ARE trippin', that's a dude"
"Seriously dude?"
"totally dude"
"dude, this winx is some good s**t"
"dude, tell me about it, I don't even exist, I'M ANOTHER HALLUCINATION DUDE!"

Lisa Ortiz. Yes, she has a distinct voice.

It's a 4Kids dub, but many of the voices seem new.
