I know the season is called Outsiders, but I wonder if Virgil's reduced screen time might be because of some issues with Milestone.
They had Holocaust in "True Heroes" so don't thinks so. In a recent AMA, Vietti and Weisman said there were no issues with any character right this season.

Was anyone else kind of on Brion's side in the argument with Dick? It can't be more than a few weeks since he was banished and Nightwing keeping knowledge of his sister away from him is unjustified. Dick was focusing too much on Brion's reaction and not on why he reacted that way.
Yeah, there is a bit of gray territory with Dick compartmentalizing info but he did cite Infinity Island. And unlike Infinity Island, Santa Prisca is an island nation and a bigger chance of an international incident if Geo-Force stormed his way there and messed up. But yeah, at least Dick realized his mistake during the spat in the driveway.

So is Violet just a spirit inhabiting a dead teen or is it a merger of two souls?
Seems like the former but she still can feel fragments of Gabrielle's residual memories.

My take was that she's similar to MCU Vision, or that one episode of Star Trek Voyager I remember, where two beings merge together and become someone new.

The gore was just on my mind as well. It still feels surreal to see in this show. I took it for granted when Weisman said the show would move into TV-MA territory (paraphrasing). I reeeally don't like gore (which is funny to me when I consider some of the shows and movies I have liked, or even loved) but if it's handled well enough, I can go with the flow, and I love this show enough to go with it.

Yeah like I said, I don't mind the show being darker, but they can go overboard in sometimes.

I wouldn't have minded this show being PG-13 like The Flash, but probably not "PG-13 bordering on R" otherwise it should be rated-R.

I think the reason Dr. Jace feels responsible for Violet is that she was the one who vivisected the mother box. In a sense, she created Halo.

Also, aren't those two paramedics characters from the latest version of the Doom Patrol? I'm not really up on it so I'm not sure.

I guess it is possible some of the Doom Patrol stuff shown in "Nightmare Monkeys" might have been only a fever dream. Only nods to the comics or something, not necessarily canon to the story. Sort of like Flash's hallucinations (inspired by Silver Age comic covers) from Justice League's "The Brave and the Bold".

Also, I've seen it suggested that Wally not getting killed in that part of Gar's dream (or whatever it was) supposedly hints he's still alive.

Yeah, that was brought up in the character countdown thread for this season.

Some thoughts:

Exceptional Human Beings

-Loved that Oracle also works with Batman and his team.
Well it would be kind of weird if the former Batgirl wasn't still intimately working with Batman :).
-Oracle singling out Metamorpho was awesome then he noticed Batman was staring at him. lol.
They know him well :p.
-Saw some critiques on Metamorpho being too similar to Plastic Man. Ugh, Plas can't turn into a gas form and depending on his mastery this season - when he transforms, he's still the colors of his costume whereas Metamorpho can full on transform like with the black garbage bins when he hid Katana from the patrol.
Just wait until Elongated Man shows up ;).
-Shiva's line "If I feel disrespect, you'll know." :D
Yeah, that's Shiva alright...I can only imagine she's even willing to serve under Deathstroke because she actually likes training people and it gets her closer into the Light :ack:.
-Jade leaving like that. :(
Things can never be too easy for the Harper family :(.
-Wonder if this Soultaker will have its comic book abilities or if it's just a prized sword.
I wonder if Katana's husband is already in there. Maybe she took a vow of silence after his death ?
-Okay, Megan confirmed to be a guidance counselor. Hmm, wonder if anyone else from the Team or past supporting cast will be employed at HHHS.
I wonder how often she uses her abilities for her job, or if she's just instinctively good enough to realize what's going on with people and how to help them without her telepathy?

Conner is the only other member of the Team I could see helping out at the school. Maybe Mal and Karen too since they're also alumni.
-Very cool that Violet discovered she can make Boom Tubes. Could come in real handy is something were to happen to the Zeta Tubes or they need to go somewhere beyond the Zeta Tube network...
Kinda makes her like comic Cyborg, since I think (currently) he can do the same thing).
-Victor's reaction to Forager made total sense. Way offguard. lol.
We have to remember ordinary civilians aren't as used to this stuff as the heroes are.
-Date night! A secret base! And Wolf's reaction. lmao.
Superhero relationship problems ;).
-Been loving all the direct references to the comics this season. But what gut punch to see the scene continue from "Players" Ch. 6 when Queen Bee uses her hypnosis to make Marie drive off the cliff. I hate it that Queen Bee is 'untouchable' at this point and hasn't had any real comeuppance other than being TK'ed into a tree in season 1.
I think both she and Luthor are due a good thrashing .
-Did not expect Psimon and Devastation to be a couple.
I don't know if they're a couple but Devastation definitely still seems really into Psimon :ack:.
-Got a bad feeling that part of Granny's plan, that she alluded to at the Light meeting previously, was to get all of the trafficked metas in one place: the Meta-Human Youth Center.
That would mean that the heroes taking down all the Metahuman trafficking centers was part of the plan, which explains why Terra was prepared as an infiltrator .

Also, I've seen it suggested that Wally not getting killed in that part of Gar's dream (or whatever it was) supposedly hints he's still alive.
I guess Jason doesn't count because he was Lazarus Pit-ed back to life ?

I think it's more a consequence of being on the Team who, compared to the Outsiders and Batman Incorporated, are the least focused on in the entire plot .

Gar's "mindscape" was not just a fever dream. He mentions Rita after he breaks himself out of the fugue state, so the parts about Rita being his adopted mother are true, and, I would wager, so are the parts about the Doom Patrol.

I literally gagged when I saw the gore in "Another Freak". It took me back to Flashpoint Paradox which had some really grizzly murders in it.

How is Canada's Teletoon channel airing this?

My guess is they'll edit some parts out. While we have seen some gore, it hasn't been a near constant.

I don't think so. They've mentioned before that they haven't had any problems with the Milestone characters. While it would be cool to see Static after being a hero for a couple of years, I don't know if they'd fit within the storyline they're going for with this season. They might get more attention in the second half of the season, especially if the Outsiders do join the Team, but it's hard to say for sure right now.

I thought that Dick was pretty justified with keeping Brion in the dark. The moment Brion thought that Terra could be in the League of Shadows, he immediately put himself, Violet and Forager in danger and if it wasn't for Violet's powers bringing her back to life, he would have been responsible for her death. He could have at least let Brion know that they were looking into the lead, but considering his past actions and how he didn't really calm down enough to help on the rescue mission until after their confrontation, I don't blame Dick for not telling Brion about this lead. Brion could have easily caused a worse incident at Santa Prisca given his hot headed attitude.

I'm pretty sure that it's the latter. Violet does have flashes of Gabriel's memories, so I assume at least part of her original self is still in there. I imagine that her personality has changed after the mother box possessed her, but since we didn't know Violet before she died, it's hard to say for sure.

We have Terra and Slade in this universe, we all know it was going to happen. Also was it ever stated that Beast Boy worked with the Doom Patrol in the show.
They might exist, but Beast Boy was created on this series, it's not like there was a prior relationship with them. I'm more interested in seeing the Teen Titans team. Just need Starfire and Raven.

Also, I've seen it suggested that Wally not getting killed in that part of Gar's dream (or whatever it was) supposedly hints he's still alive.

That argument would only hold water if Gar was psychic. But I find it interesting that Gar’s nightmare offered an exact replication of Wally’s passing and Artemis’s reaction. Gar wasn’t there so how could he know exactly what was said and by whom in that scene?

The last batch of episodes for the first-half of Season 3/Outsiders continues to pack a lot of content in them and have a lot of details to think about.

It was pretty cool to see Batman, Katana & Metamorpho in action and those scenes where they didn't talk reminded me a lot of the first 4 seasons of Samurai Jack. I liked seeing Bane return and it was also cool to see more of Lady Shiva in action. Victor Stone (the future Cyborg) makes his debut and we get to see his conflict with his father. It was sad that Cheshire still isn't reuniting with her family, it makes you wonder if her story this season will have a happy ending, a sad ending or a bitter-sweet ending. It was cool to hear more of Fred Tatasciore as Deathstroke & Danny Trejo as Bane and Gwendoline Yeo continues to give an impressive performance as Lady Shiva. It was surreal hearing Khary Payton's Cyborg voice coming from a different character when Cyborg was also present but I think it's only fair to give Zeno Robinson some more time as Cyborg before evaluating his performance. I also found it to be a nice "passing the torch moment" to have Khary Payton play Cyborg's dad.

So the Father Box lead to Victor becoming Cyborg (although he hasn't taken on the codename yet) in this adaptation, that does fit in with how Greg Weisman likes to make the shows he works on be cohesive. Victor and his father's conflict is quite tragic, Victor may not have the promising future he hoped for but Silas did manage to save his life; I imagine we will receive a concussion to this in the second-half of the season. Forager going to school did catch me by surprise, I'm guessing they might have thought it would help learn more about Earth culture; come to think of it, I don't think they ever mentioned Forager's age (or his "Earth age equivalent"). I don't know anything about Harper Row but I take it she will take on an important role in the future, considering the focus they put on her meeting Halo and Forager.

I am glad to see Beast Boy get the spotlight in an episode but I am confused about if Miss Martian's blood transfusion actually played a role in his powers or not; it could just be "fever dream weirdness" but it also seems very specific for a fever dream, I hope this gets cleared up in some way. It looks like some were right about the Mother Box being a part of Halo and Victor having a Father Box does make them foils to one another. I may not be a fan of Teen Titans Go but the Doom Patrol parody was hilarious and I liked how the Teen Titans cast took on the roles. Perdita's relationship with Beast Boy is sweet and Miss Martian's sibling bond with Beast Boy is one of my favorite dynamics on the show, I also like Superboy's bond with Beast Boy even if it is shown in a more low key manner. I'm guessing the "fever dream monkey" having Kid Flash's voice is a nod to Jason Spisak voicing Wally and Garfield's pet monkey. Hynden Walch did a great job as the teenage Perdita (I wouldn't be surprised if Starfire X Beast Boy Shippers were having a field day) and I didn't recognize Scott Menville as Mento.

I noticed that Season 3 reached Halloween faster than Season 1 did in their respective runs, I take it we might get to see some more December episodes in the back-half of the season. The Father Box possessing Victor did bring some horror-movie vibes to mind and I wonder if he really is cleansed "for good". I don't recognize Mr. Bliss but his role sort of reminds me of what Roulette does. Seeing Devastation care for Psimon (like in Season 2/Invasion) and Superboy being "frenemeis"with Icicle Jr. were pretty nice moments; I also realize that Artemis didn't interact with Icicle Jr. "as herself" outside of the tie-in comics despite being in the same area as him (taking into account that Artemis was posing as someone else in Season 2/Invasion). The Terror Twins new looks caught me by surprise, Tommy's teeth really stood out to me. Terra being a traitor/mole was to be expected but I am someone who believes execution of a plot/premise/idea is more important than how many times it's been told, so I'm willing to be patient and see how this adaptation will execute the story. Tara Strong voicing Terra in this adaptation is amusing to me both in the name sense and taking Raven's history with Terra into account.

So far, I have been enjoying Season3/Outsiders but I still don't know where I would rank it compared to the other seasons; that might be easier to answer once the season ends. Seeing Cyborg appear makes me wonder what Starfire & Raven would be like in this adaptation (I recall Starfire being hinted at eventually appearing, if I'm not mistaken). I recall hearing that Season 3/Outsiders was split into different storylines between its two halves, so I will be curious to see if the second storyline has a different "feel" to it compared to this one. After the long waits with the first two seasons and the delays to start this season, waiting until June for the rest of the season will be easy for me; I have learned how to be very patient over the years.

Well, I meant, it was cool that she's not only working with Nightwing in the field, she's also working with Batman as well. I'm curious if she helps the Team in a similar capacity or passing intel along to them.

I wonder how often she uses her abilities for her job, or if she's just instinctively good enough to realize what's going on with people and how to help them without her telepathy?
Good point but come to think of it, too bad they didn't have Megan employed there as a math teacher instead. ;)

But I find it interesting that Gar’s nightmare offered an exact replication of Wally’s passing and Artemis’s reaction. Gar wasn’t there so how could he know exactly what was said and by whom in that scene?
Good point. Hmm.

We know M'Gann, Kaldur, and Wonder Woman are aware of her, so it's not just Batfamily who know about her, but so far she seems to be primarily utilized by Dick and Batman .

Maybe after her injury Babs built herself backup, came out as Oracle for the Batfamily, and is now slowly integrating herself into the wider hero community :)?

Hmm, I wonder if Helga's daughter will turn out to be the Earth-16 version of Windfall. I don't think they ever revealed who her parents were in the comics.

It just occurred to me the William Shatner-expy is Paul Sloane. In the comics, Paul Sloane briefly became the third Two-Face. Who (relatively) recently voiced Two-Face in a most notable fashion?

I genuinely can't tell if that's an intentional layered in-joke or just a happy coincidence, but either way I love it.
