Marvel and Disney’s stylish “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” will return for a second season this year, and in anticipation, a new trailer for the upcoming episodes was released today. By the looks of it, the new season will be just as colorful and dynamic as the first one, if not more.
Beginning Friday, February 2 folks can see the continuation of the show (as viewers will remember, it ended on a pretty big cliff-hanger last year). The trailer and log-line for season 2 can be found below:
“In Season 2, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are in their element as Super Heroes; however, as Moon Girl’s Super Hero-ing intertwines more with her personal life, she must decide if the cost of keeping her identity a secret is worth the toll it takes on her family.”
Also announced recently were some of the celebrities that will do guest voice acting roles this season. Season 1 had some pretty big names (Wesley Snipes being the most surprising one, for me) and season 2 will be stacked as well. Jonathan Banks, SungWon Cho, Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Andy Garcia, Arsenio Hall, Ann Harada, Jackee Harry, Manny Jacinto, Carol Kane, Xolo Mariduena, Alex Newell, Edward James Olmos, Parker Posey, Ephraim Sykes, David Tennant, Robin Thede, and Peter Weller are so far confirmed as guests. We don’t know yet which characters each one will voice, though. Olmos is supposed to voice the villainous Molecule Man, while Weller will voice a certain Dr. Stern, who some believe might be teasing an appearance from the Leader (whose real name was Samuel Sterns), but that remains to be seen.
All of these, apart from the series regulars such as Diamond White as Lunella Lafayette (Moon Girl), Fred Tatasciore as Devil Dinosaur, Libe Barer as Casey, and Laurence Fishburne as The Beyonder, to name a few. Fishburne also has the behind the scenes role of Executive Producer, with Steve Loter, Rodney Clouden and Pilar Flynn, Kate Kondell, Halima Lucas, Ben Juwono and Rafael Chaidez in other key producer roles. Grammy Award-winner Raphael Saadiq serves as the series executive music producer.
In other recent news, the show won quite a few Emmy Awards, including for Outstanding Voice Directing, Outstanding Voice Casting, and the two-part series premiere won an Award for Outstanding Animated Special.
Season 2 of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur debuts Friday February 2, 2024 at 8 PM ET on Disney Channel and Disney XD with two episodes. Episodes will also be available to stream on Disney+ starting the next day.
