As promised, “The Simpsons” killed off a character on their season-opening episode over the weekend and after hinting that it might be Krusty the Clown with the episode title of “Clown in the Dumps”, it actually wound up being Krusty’s father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski, who was voiced by 83-year-old comedian Jackie Mason. The Rabbi died in his office chair while having a conversation with Krusty, who had become depressed after being roasted by Sarah Silverman.
Mason had been on the show nearly since its inception, beginning in 1991, the third season of the long-running show.
