The parent organization of the San Diego Comic Con – Comic Con International – and the City of San Diego have agreed to keep the annual signature event in the city through 2021
The 2017 version of the event – scheduled to run from July 20-23 at the San Diego Convention Center – is the 48th edition of the convention.
The original Comic-Con was held in San Diego in 1970 at the downtown U.S. Grant Hotel as a one-day event for comics fans. Since then, it has become an industry monster, drawing an estimated 130,000 visitors and generating approximately $135 million regionally.
