Today Ubisoft held its panel for the latest Assassin’s Creed game, entitled Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, but it didn’t stop there. To help promote the game, they dug into their pockets to have a special animated short produced, which made its debut at the panel and shortly on YouTube thereafter. So….here it is!

When you finish that, how about a making-of video? Ubisoft created that too:

The short was produced by director F. Gary Gray, whom Ubisoft goes into great detail about in their press release:

F. GARY GRAY is recognized as one of the industry’s most prolific and versatile directors, known for consistently pushing the envelope, spotting new trends and talent, and delivering innovative exciting entertainment to a diverse audience.

Gray is currently directing and producing the highly anticipated biopic Straight Outta Compton, which follows the birth of the gangsta rap group NWA.  The film is produced by Gray (PGA), Dr. Dre and Ice Cube and is set to be released on August 14th by Universal Pictures.

With his production company, Nucleus Entertainment, Inc., Gray recently produced the upcoming film The Sea of Trees for director Gus Van Sant, starring Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey and Naomi Watts. The drama, which had its premiere in competition at Cannes this year, follows the story of a suicidal American who befriends a Japanese man lost in a forest near Mount Fuji and together, the two search for a way out.

Gray is also a leading member of his community and has been an active supporter of numerous organizations which include the Tom Bradley Youth & Family Center, My Friend’s House Foundation, and Urban Compass, among others.  He has received multiple commendations from the city of Los Angeles for his Philanthropic work.

The short was animated by visual artist Pop Mhan. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will make its debut in video game form this fall on most current consoles and the PC.
